Whats the find people are raving about

These guys noticed that in the ending as Shepard is walking up the ramp towards Anderson you can hear what sounds like electricity arcing.  However, what they have speculated is that it's not actually electricity, but really the sound of gunfire during the battle raging around Shepard.

Holy crap...

I did what you said @DJbare, and I'm more than sure that I could hear gunfire and screams!
Could it be the soldiers still fighting back on Earth around Shepard?

Anyways, good catch!

Give that person a cookie!!!
Thank you for confirming what I suspected, you are a star!!

hey, I said it first, now I want a cookie, too. :P

I missed your post, sorry, a cookie for you!

And you get a cake for pointing is towards it. This is so..brilliant!
I'm gonna be honest, how I feel now is how I felt back when I first started understand IT. If Bioware really intended it that way...man...they are geniuses, even more now!

This is EXACTLY how dreams work if something happens around you. You pick it up and your brain incorparates it somehow into your dream, sometimes the brain does it in funny ways.
When it happens to me, I don't know what it is I'm hearing but my brain puts it in some context that's familiar with the dream.
In Shep's case, she hears gunfire in random intervalls and the first thing the brain takes is electrical discharges, which are often random, too, and then chooses a Shakdow Broker surrounding, since that's where she heard a LOT of discharges.

It only seems logical.

What is thsi about again?

I think that if the IT is confirmed, we should make a memorial thread, where the names of all those are listed that contributed here.

Granted, it would be a tremendous undertaking, but I think it would be well worth it!

Real or screen name?

I'd say both, but it all comes down to if we want our real names listed on it!

*snip*

I will have to try this tonight on my headset. That's a pretty awesome catch, if it means anything.

Whats the find you guys are talking about?

Replay citadel: the return. Then go up to the ramp where Anderson is, but don't go too far, or else the scene will start.
Turn to either the left or right, then close your eyes, and listen...

I promise you, you'll know immediately what we found!

I lent the game to my brother.. so I have no idea what it could be. Guess I'll have to wait.

LOL about the egg, because we had a science experiment in middle school that consisted of trying to find a way to keep the egg protected somehow from a drop off the tallest building in our school (two stories). Pretty much everyone who used memory foam had an intact egg. Guess who invented memory foam; NASA. I'm just saying that the tech to is completly within reach for the ME universe.
He would only be falling at 85% the speed he would be if it were Earth anyway.

And I'm just saying that the experiment with the egg packed in memory foam.  In a helmet, at least from what we see of the helmets in Mass, your head can move around still.  Else punching and being hit by cars/trucks at sub 100mph wouldn't hurt either, as the foam in your armor would absorb the impact.  If you can hit the ground with such force all your bones are shattered (as seen in the in game movie when Shepard is being revived) that means you hit with enough force to get, at the least, a concussion.

Go listen to the the sound at the top of the ramp just before meeting up with Anderson, specifically the arcing from the sparks, it sounds like gunfire and shouting.

@subastris - atmospheric pressure and gravity are about 13-15% less than Earth. So I'm assuming it can't be far off. The major difference between shep and the lady who survived the fall... is she didn't reenter from space... while Shep does.

After a certain point it doesnt matter how far you're falling from. Once you hit terminal velocity height stops mattering.

I think we finally got back to discussing IT, and the idea is you ehar screams and gunfire on the citadel, which adds fuel to the idea that you're not on the citadel, but on earth with soldiers fighting around you, much like incorporating an alarm clock into your dreams.

Yes it is. It's the poping of the ships shooting and exploding. This is what I pointed out a long time ago when I mentioned sounds travelling in the vacuum of space. It happens a lot in ME and the explanation I was given was auditory emulators.

See my post above.

Also those aren't screams, it is the sound of the Eezo stream coming from the crucible. It has a slight variation to that of the beam on earth.

Sure, I haven't checked out the physics, but just using rough estimations of the speeds it seems as though he would just be juice. I don't really know how your first thought could be anything else. Why don't you see this is as weird but Synthesis as completely abnormal?

I think it's a level of suspension of disbelief before saying something is "space magic" everyone accepts for himself. And I find Shepard behing rebuild after crashing on a planet in armor far more likely than the Synthesis ending. If the acceptable level is lower or higher in your case, so be it.

I'm still a minor so I doubt that I would want my real name on the list.  However, I would certainly be fine with my screen name being put on the list.  I'm proud of this.  I feel like I'm helping to make a real difference.  This reminds me so much of my time on the ME Deception opposition thread.  Back then, I was fighting to stop one tie-in.  Now, I'm fighting to save quite literally the ENTIRE ME universe from sucky writing.  It feels like the difference between fighting the Collectors and fighting the Reapers.

So to sum up: Harbinger's blast completely destroyed your kinetic barriers, completely charred your armor, but conveniently left your radio and auditory emulators intact?

The crucible is not docked with the Citadel at that point.

I never thought that auditory emulators were built into your armor. I thought it was a ship and vehicle thing.

But if it is in the suit then why not? Not all of Shepard's body was charred either, look at his face and neck. Not much damage there.

No, not the stuff happening outside at Starbrat's.

The electrical discharges from the Shadow Broker ship parts on the Citadel ramp, before you talk to Anderson.

Not very likely, I'd say...

Anyways, the citadel is closed, so Shepard should not be hearing the gunfire of ships anyway!

I don't know if Shep ever *fully* recovered from the Lazerus project, His brain may have gotten scrambled a bit but it was all in one place. Perhaps they did have to push some grey matter back in place before starting his heart again. I don't know, but I do know that helmets fit snuggly around your head and there is no open space between your brain and skull besides fluid.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had to pull skull fragments from his brain, the point is its all in one place and "they had the technology"

Well Cortez mentions he relaxes by turning off the auditory emulators and watching ships go by in silence. He does it at the docking bay of the Citadel.

I doubt the workers at the docking bay or his superiors on ships would just let him turn the auditory emulators off it it was something built into the station or into the ships.

You're right, auditory emulators are NOT in combat armor! That means, that Shepard wouldn't even be able to hear the ships firing outside, it would only be possible for the ships to hear it, not Shepard!

Thanks for strengthening the idea! :P

Huh, I didn't think about it like that before.  You've got a very good point.
