They might believe God is doing it, but that doesn't make it true of course.

BW did design every aspect. Doesn't mean there is also a meaning behind everything for example, the fact that the same models are used on one planet and another doesn't mean the two things are linked. Or in fact, they didn't think everything through. IT requires infalliability on BW's part.

Again, we know the trees are there, we don't know why they are there

If you don't know then what are you arguing for? Like you have somethingto prove to us strangers and you don't even know what it is.

I am warning that skepticism should be applied to proposed evidence.

But all your evidence is golden?

As I've said, IT is a theory.  Getting hung up on one aspect of the theory is an easy way to disprove it.

Are the presence of trees the ULTIMATE proof?  No.

There are lots of holes in the ending.  There are some funky things that don't seem to jive in the story, etc through-out the game.  Could it be a QA issue?  And over-sight?  Sloppiness?  Laziness?  Pressure to get the game done?  YES.

Could is also be that Bioware had a plan?  Yes.

I've said it time and time again.  Bioware wanted speculation, they wanted discussion on the ending.  If they didn't want this sort of thing then they would just come out and say that IT is a great idea, but it isn't true.  Maybe they just want us on the hook a little longer and it will ultimately be fanfic.

But right now, the theory can be considered alive and dead.  We won't know until Bioware says so.  And I'm sure they will make it very clear - but I'm not even 100% certain on that.

So sitting here debating the FRAKKING trees doesn't prove or disprove anything.  It's just another piece that some of us feels fits into the puzzle.

We're all skeptics... we aren't going to follow the herd and just say "Bad writing!" because THATS the easy solution. We are simply asking why the game ended only half way through the third act.

If you say so :)

And THAT'S how it's done. ^_^

Now, since I've sufficiently applied logic, I will be off again. I'm sorry I was not able to stay away, but I'll try now.

Well, it sounds as if you're commiting the fallacy of Argument from Personnal Incredulity, in which you deny something because you cannot explain it.  It's a common trap that Creationists fall into, which is kind of ironic since you would appear to be an atheist.

Creationists – God created the world because the Bible says so.

Atheists – there’s no proof there is a god.

Me – Tacos and donuts are awesome!

Which is right? Well, there’s no proof, but both sides will argue as if there is; sometimes to the death. The fact is, that it’s a choice, a belief, an idea and that’s all there is to it.

At least for me, I don't care if IT is true or not, I just want that BW explain the end of the game. I support IT cause it's the best explanation given until the moment.

But if EC makes sense in another way, I'll be equally satisfied.

We don't know. I'm not sure they necessarily put them as remodelled it from another purpose, hence the trees. Full trees seem to go against indoctrination (why would Shep think of them)?

I'm sorry, but I can't even understand what you're trying to say. Shepard seeing trees where there are non goes against the idea that he was seeing things that aren't there (I.T.)? Now you're just contradicting youself....

Shepard seeing trees of such quality which are not the same to any trees seen in the other evidences for IT, such as dreams. Points to another reason, not IT

LOL! and what reason would that be?

I'll give you a similar argument to what you are saying:

1) Unexplained thing happens
2) God could explain unexplained thing
3) Therefore God did unexplained thing

See what could be wrong there?

2nd premise doesn't lead nicely into the last

I'll give you a better, similar argument.

1) We've found species that seem to adapt to their surroundings over time by weeding out the genes of individuals that don't adapt well to their surroundings. Well that's interesting.

2.) we have evidence of guided adaptation like dogs, cats, and other domesticated animals. Also the fossil record shows an interesting amount of species that change form over time, becoming more efficient. Also, our children seem to inherit the traits of their parents, especially physical traits. Wow, that's a lot of pieces to fit into a puzzle. But now all these coincidences are starting to add up to something.

3) therefore evolution explains everything. And the puzzle is complete.

Thank you, Charles Darwin.

Indoctrination theory is closer to the theory of evolution than it is to creationism.

Of course, when BW confirm IT, they are being truthful, but when BW confirm that it is not true, they must be wrong!

When was it confirmed false

Wouldn't that be a funny mod to Mass Effect that all the reapers, husks, etc were replaced by Zoidbergs?

HILARIOUS!!!

Not sure if the res in that version is high enough. Here.

http://wenchy.net/stupidity/trees.png

The image on the bottom right is the cubemap of the level, and contains the trees. If you need help seeing them, orient yourself using the curve of the earth or the explosions.

EDIT - if you're really stuck, orient yourself this way - just to the left of Shepards ass you can see the Reaper in the left of the cubemap (looks kind of like a crocodiles mouth). Then just follow the curve of the earth.

MegumiAzusa don't suppose you could check if you can see them more clearly reflected on the control ramp? That's where I spotted them the easiest, might show up in screenshots more clearly.

The clearer we can see these trees the better.

So the implication of the Citadel trees is that BioWare originally intended the catalyst convo to be even more surreal than it already was, but removed them without removing their reflection from the floor?

Heh, I opened the screenshot in Photoshop, and yes - there is a tree reflection there.

Maybe BW reused floor from Presidium Ring and they also copied the textures reflection ;) or something... or trees grow in space... ;) or... you know... Ghostly Light Trees so Casper doesn't feel lonely...

Or they were originally supposed to just be in the reflection, to leave it "subtle".
