So the implication of the Citadel trees is that BioWare originally intended the catalyst convo to be even more surreal than it already was, but removed them without removing their reflection from the floor?
Or they were originally supposed to just be in the reflection, to leave it "subtle".
Interesting ... and kind of a shame. Based on the screen-grabs, it would have been a pretty damn trippy-yet-beautiful image if included in full.

I love how the laser from the Destroyer on Rannoch AND the Destroyer on Earth are powerful enough to instantly kill you, but Harbinger's laser is only powerful enough to knock you down.

Honestly, though, I'm glad I wasn't here. I'm still not coherent enough to be an effective Resident Mother right now.
In an attempt to be somewhat relevant, I'll say that I find the whole "trees in the background" image interesting. Assuming it isn't manipulated, it does make one wonder why they'd be there . . .

And on that, going to take a nap. Please be nice and respectful in the meanwhile, okay? Hugs all around! <3

Which begs the question - was Harbinger really trying to kill Shepard?
Because obviously Harbinger's beam is powerful enough to do that.

Yeah, that's been rattling in my mind even from my first play-through -- when, uh, that laser killed me one or two more times than I'd like to admit to. It's one of those surface-level "surreal" triggers that doesn't even have to directly associate with the theory, even though it's the start of the giant neon sign pointing towards it being a possibility.

If you actually stand still and dont rush the conduit, you'll see basically an endless wave of marines charging the beam, and Harbinger directly hits every single one of them with his laser. Never once does he first start on the ground and then lead his beam slowly towards them, and never once does one of them survive. They are all completely vaporized.
Theres no possible way Harby was trying to kill Shepard. I mean, even if you believe the endings as they stand are the actual endings, Harby still just flies off after Shep stands up. He didnt even make sure she was dead.

Anybody else think that the platform kind of looks like an indoc eye?
Oh, also you wake up on a smaller version of it in the Crucible.

If you just dodge once your whole screen is in flames but you still don't get any damage. If Harby would keep that up your armor would melt but you don't die.byne wrote...

Hopefully the image above posts properly. Don't post much, but thought I'd mention something I've slowly been noticing more and more with each play-through. Forgive if it's been discussed, but the codex entry on indoctrination mentions subliminal signals as one of the methods used. And I've been seeing more and more of it the more I know what to look out for. Some of it is so subtle its scary.

I never did just stand there, so that is very interesting that Harbinger's targeting is that accurate.

It's hard to see the blue, but those are the RGB colors.

The thing why they become more noticeable is because on the destroy side it's a whole bunch of them while at control there are only two making them more defined and easier to spot.MaximizedAction wrote...

Shepard: You're just a machine! This time the organics are taking control!
Destroyer: A philosophy reminiscent of the quarians. Observe the result of their efforts to maintain control.
Why would a Reaper be against both control AND organics being victorious?
I thought that the entire idea behind Reapers was to maintain control of the galaxy so they could prevent synthetics from destroying organics.

I know!
I saw in the cube pics that the trees are spread out approx. uniformly.
