So wait a minute - when exactly does everyone get the scene in destroy when Shepard takes breath? I just replayed and chose the destroy option - as a femshep I thought "well, if i see a female N7 lying there I will know for sure that is supposed to be an image of Shepard" but...I never got that scene. The credits are rolling as I speak. All saw once i shot the tube was flashbacks of Joker, Anderson and my LI. Then it scans to earth and shows the troops in London fighting reapers that suddenly "deactivate" and then all the troops cheer. The crucible/citadel explodes and then the mass relays. Then Joker, Garrus and my LI emerge on the garden planet...? I never get the rubble-breathing-shepard? Maybe I need to get my readiness rating up? Here's my numbers: TMS:5394, Readiness Rating: 63%, EMS: 3398. What matters overall your TMS or EMS?

DELETE - my question was just answered by the above-poster. Weird.

"Privately, I can't deny the atmosphere. The angles of the walls seem to be pressing down on you. I find myself clenching my teeth..."

I don't know about "pressing down" but the walls and ceiling in the Citadel at the end are strange to say the least. There's also clear tension in Shepard's voice as if clenching teeth, though that could just be from being in a truckload of pain.

I believe you need a EMS of 5000; I have yet to get it myself, but I haven't played any multiplayer yet.

5000+ ems is required. Destroy is the first ending unlocked with ems, followed by control, then synthesis. They're then modified by earth being destroyed or not and then the final modification is the shepard breath scene on the "bad" ending. And that's the highest EMS check. Too suspicious. If they didn't want us to question it they'd have put that ending on every choice when you reach 5000+.

For the Shepard survive option, you either need 4000 EMS with some right decisions made (I'm not sure which ones) or 5000 EMS.

With all due respect to some of the commentators here, but I'm a Christian, and this ending doesn't appeal to me at all. In fact, having Shepard destroy an ultimate evil and saving the galaxy is more appealing to my beliefs... just sharing my opinion.

I fully supoprt this, ESPECIALLY the Paragon and Renagade flip at the end for choices.  I asctually had to stand there and think for a while, wondering "why is the renegade option the one that Anderson has?"

I ended up choosing the destroy option, but didn't have enough war assets to get the final breath scene.  I just REALLY REALLY hope that I didn't really kill EDI or the Geth.  Losing Legion was hard enough.

It gave me a moment's pause too, not only from the perspective of the heavy price of sacrificing synthetics, but also just on a more visual level and an understanding of ME morality up until that moment.
I even started moving toward the blue first, because I was anxious and thought I hadn't correctly paid attention to the images of TIM and Anderson.

I think there is a minimum EMS for the breathing scene. Also, the more I think about TIM's indoctrination, the more I worry about Legion's. Anyway, I noticed there is also a good bit of flowing liquid around in the final area - look over the railings the keepers are next to, or past the sides on the bridge. I don't know if it has any relevance, but it seems a bit out of place.

It's just me, or there were some dark "Anderson-like" weird dark shadows, when Shepard goes to control room in Citadel? I barely glimpsed them, like in good old horror. It was creepy, so at first I even decided, that there no Anderson - only Illusive Man and his tricks.

The EMS meter doesn't help the "they wouldn't screw offline only players!" argument. Because you're not getting 5000 EMS offline. I seriously doubt even 4000 is possible. But those are for the "best" endings.

That's hilarious. As a huge fan of Usual Suspects, I'm laughing out loud. Thanks for this.

Yes of course the dream trope has been used before, but this case is unique. This is Bioware actively immersing the player in their own indoctrination. Do you stick to your convictions, or do you let the Reapers convince you of another option? If you stick to your convictions, you get the scene where you're waking in the rubble. You kept your resolve, you get to see this through to the end.

I usually lurk around so I don't get sucked in into any discussion, but I wonder if anyone heard the "kid" voice in ending selection scene closely? Is it just me, or does some part of the extra voices that follow his speech sounds like male Shepard and female Shepard speaking in unison (I needed headphones while listening)? Also, like to point out, it is a bit strange that Shepard's voice has a mini echo effect during that dialogue.

Sorry if it has been pointed out, I couldn't read all 190+ pages. :pinched:

I know this has been discussed ad nauseum by now, but I have just watched the "Destroy" ending probably 50 times, specifically Shepard being alive.

The materials are most likely concrete or at the very least a form of stone. Something you don't see much of in the Citadel. Additionally pieces of corrugated steel or building supports are visible. This just doesn't make sense.

Finally with the destruction of all major tech thanks to the red pulse from the Crucible I would imagine that any Mass Effect fields keeping any form of atmosphere within the Citadel would have failed, as would any conventional glass barriers. The void of space would have vented the chamber Shepard was shown to be in. Either he'd rapidly asphyxiate, die from exposure, or most likely be blown into space by the force of the decompression.

Either Shepard is still in London or the art designers at Bioware are awful.

In a manner of speaking, anyway.

My problem as of now is that, even if this indoctrination theory is true, we still have an ending that provides no closure to the series (and at least looking at the endings as they are solves the Reaper threat).

This could be solved with DLC, but the fact that Bioware would intentionally charge $60-80 for a game without an ending leads to another issue entirely.

You need 4,000 EMS and not let IM kill Anderson to get the scene. You need 5.000 EMS, and it does not matter if Anderson dies by the IM's hand.

How is TIM able to control Shepard and Anderson, if this isn't a hallucination brought on by indoctrination? I thought his tech only affected those suffering from indoctrination.
