While we're on the subject, if it wasnt for the fact that the Reapers are actually taking losses, the fact that they take the Citadel to Earth would convince me that they have some kind of grand design conspiracy going on. Earth is far, far from the safest possible location they could take the Citadel. Darkspace anyone? What about simply deactivating the mass relays? Unless Bioware is really just having the Reapers "conveniently" make mistakes for the sake of being able to wrap up the story (which is possible, I admit), there is a lot more going on than we are being led to believe.

Hmm, don't know about the Mass Relays - I mean, it's clear that the Keepers don't listen to the Reapers anymore. But I think they couldn't do it on their own - Sovereign still needed Saren as an inside man to activate the Citadel Relay. (or at least "repair the Keepers" or something)

Darkspace whould have been a long way. But I agree, they could have hidden the Citadel basically in any system, or in between, but they chose Sol/Earth - maybe because the majority of their forces are there?

Hide it behind the Omega-4 relay.  "But the Normandy/Cerberus could follow" some would say.  Well not if the Reapers did for the first time in 37,000,000 years what IT professionals tell you to do every month and CHANGE THE GODDAMN PASSWORD.

But that wouldn't matter because EDI can break the encryption.

Presumably, they have brought the Citadel to Earth because they have chosen Humans to be the predominant species they wish to Reaperize and since the Collector base is gone or under Cerberus control and the equipment built to create a Human Reaper was damaged, the Citadel is plan B since it is likely a Reaper factory/nursery.

Well, their primary goal is ostensibly to protect the Citadel from being used alongside the Crucible. Whatever they are doing with the beam is a secondary objective. If it were a primary objective, they would not have waited until being informed about the Crucible to retake it and move it to "protect it".

Agreed, keeping it from docking with the Crucible would have been their primary objective.

By the way, this thing about making a human Reaper on the citadel - we have just about zero reason to think that, save a brief thought by Shepard. You'd think they'd at least confirm or deny it, even in an offhand manner. Apart from that we're not really given any reason for the conduit :S

I'm of the opinion that there is something in London (what are the odds the story twist is "the protheans DID find the catalyst but were too weak to use it so they hid it on Earth. Under what is now london. or something like that :P) and that the Conduit thing is a trap/misdirect.

I mean, they've already set up facilities on Earth to make dreadnoughts. Beaming people up to the citadel for processing seems insanely inefficient, apart from being just plain weird.

I'm making the argument that it has already happened, therefore it could happen, therefore it is valid. Whether it is a fact or not is up to Bioware. The evidence is in its favor of being a fact, however, since it's as much a cornerstone of the series as The Force and Lightsabres are for Star Wars.

There is no evidence to suggest that it is fact outside of the fan conjecture in this thread. You're making the argument that you think it happened, therefore you think it could happen, therefore you think it is valid.

And again I must stress that I'm not trying to disprove the IT. It works very well by itself and could be the subject of another story set in the Mass Effect universe, but not as the ending of Shepard's story.

Anyway, back to our original disagreement and beyond whatever problems you have with my communication, you presume that something that has been shown to happen in the Mass Effect universe cannot happen again nor can it happen to the main character nor should it. These are not decisions for you to make, so you can not present them as facts since they are your opinions.

However, it is not an opinion that something that has happened before can happen again since it is purely a matter of statistics, logical possibility, and a story element used again and again in the same story.

You're right, my supposition that it is a Reaper factory is just that: a supposition. I have little evidence beyond that it is a Reaper construct and much of it cannot be accessed by the temporary dwellers who live there in the 50,000 years the Reapers are not present.

It's an identify friend-foe, not a password. The Omega-4 Relay  activates in response to the presence of a Reaper. The IFF, according to EDI makes the Normandy indistinguishable from a reaper for that tech.

Yep, January '93. You've been listening this whole time to a near 20-something.

Also, I see Lex0r used me list, I'm touched. It seems I was there in spirit. :)

Aside from hitting 2000, anything noteworthy noticed today? I did finally get to read up on the theory about Coates...I was glad to hear I wasn't the only one that thought he was behaving suspiciously.
