In my point of veiw, the whole theist versus atheist argument stems from the fact that both sides are wrong.

Athiests beleive since we can objectively prove there is no man with a gigantic white beard sitting on a throne in the sky, there is no God.

Fundamententalists ( quick fact, are you aware in ancient Rome, the Fundament was referring to your ass?) beleive there is.

I can say there is some force out there that was the prime mover, the cause of all other causes. Does that mean it was a sentient being? Maybe, though probably not. "God" is not necessarily a being, he could be a force, an idea, not necessarily sentient or even living. Could you even call this force "God"? Sure, but you could also call it quintessence, the Grand Unified Theory, or simply, the Cause, the beginning of the Universe.

But that's all I'll say about that.

Or... Cosmic Imperative. (Shameless self-plug I know. Well, since I'm already going to hell...)

I've always reasoned the whole issue thus.
  • Assume that God is benevolent. Then you have good reason to be a good person, and God will surely forgive you for not neccesarily beleving in Him.
  • Assume that God is malevolent. Then you should be a good person to other people so that they are good to you and everyone can benefit and make the best of it.
  • Assume that God is indifferent. Then you should be a good person to other people so that they are good to you and everyone can benefit and make the best of it.
  • Assume that God doesn't exist. Then you should be a good person to other people so that they are good to you and everyone can benefit and make the best of it.
In other words, God or no, being a good person is the best strategy regardless. Any benefits gained from being a bad person only come with undermining your long term prospects.

And that's all I'm going to say on the subject.

I do NOT want to start a religious debate here, but as an atheist, I (me, myself, personally, my opinion) see IT as atheism, because we're using facts, evidence, and are willing to change what we see based on how the facts change. And we all know face value endings can not make logical sense. Period. Regardless of if Bioware was to say the face value ending are canon, they still don't make logical sense.

Just another reason to not listen to MintyCool I guess Posted Image

I agree, even though I am a Deist. Most Atheists are not worried about what you are, but who you are.

Agreed. I approach God through science and see It as Albert Einstein would, buried in the physics of the universe, a faceless nonanthropomorphic force. But we should probably end this discussion on religion...

A troll came. Tried to derail this thread with religious debate. So we ignored it.

Someone now brought up the subject again. And now we're doing the opposite of the troll's intent: we're engaging in polite, intellectual discussion with the goal of greater understanding for all.

Becuase we're spiteful bastards that's why.

I applaud then; but alas we are so close to 2052.

Deus Ex must happen. Must happen.

No problem, I have an atheist friend, know you are not all Christians-haters.

But back to IT, I will disagree with you. Yes, we use facts, evidences, but in the game those facts and evidences are not physical ones.

[/quote]

They are nonetheless provable and logical deductions can be made from them.

This was just a momentary blip and we were courteous about it. No need for a moderator to crash the thread.

I'm pretty sure that what happened there was probably just a bug. Destroy and Control are both unlocked well before Synthesis is unlocked.

Brb, reinstalling.

Also, you know what ending I'm gonna pick? Oh yeah.

"Yesterday we obeyed kings and bent our necks to emperors. Today we kneel only to truth."

Words to live by.
