I'm waiting on this too... I'm also still waiting to see EDI in the Destroy ending, I don't think we will get either though.

I got edi on the destroy ending on my first playthrough - to be fair I had crap-all tech powers & brought her on practically every mission, also always checked on her and joker between missions so I probably had more interaction with them than my other squadmates.

If I can find time betwen trying to get my MEng and mindlessly procrastinating on here, I will

Also, about your thread, there is a specific sounds in the BGM that sound like reaper laughter and one part that sounds like it's saying "harbinger" in harbinger's voice. I'll try to find it in a moment, also, You're looking at yourself embracing the kid and then being consumed by fire, there are TWO SHEPARDS, one that smiles as he is being consumed by fire, and YOU looking worried about what youre watching.

LOL! Again.

How can the Catalyst claim that he wants to prune organics so that we don't create synthetics if the tech they left for us is conducive to creating synthetics?

Also, it's impossible for a synthetics to kill off all organics, only 1% of the Mass Effect galaxy has been discovered and there are countless civilizations and species yet to be discovered (even on earth)

In the time it would take to purge organics from one corner of the Galaxy, more will spring up in another.

The catalysts entire argument is hypocrisy built on lies.

I'll take a crack at this but I'll be clear that this is mmy opinion and is not meant to prove nor disprove IT.

They leave the technology behind for two reasons. One, because they need the relays themselves to be able to move around and take out organics. Two, the relays and citadel being around is a test. If you're civilization is intelligent enough to find, use and reverse engineer reaper tech, then they're capable of creating AI's and synthetic life.

Humanity was around, aparrantly, the last time the reapers were here. They left us alone because we weren't smart enough to kill ourselves. With this idea laid out, you can then conclude that we gain enough competency to kill ourselves before the reapers' tech influences it.

One thing I would add is that the relays were left for us and not just the reapers. Otherwise they would all be like the Omega relay and require an IFF.

It's still kinda wonky to...

It's like if someone leaves a bunch of tools around so you can build a power tool, but then that someone who purposefully left the tools there comes and scolds you on the off chance that the powertool will hurt you.

I think the IFF was in place specifically to let reapers in, as they didn't want their cover blown. Shepard made the the Normandy look like a reaper ship. But that doesn't mean reapers can't use other relays as they feel like organics do.

They also can't afford destroying the relays because they'd have to rebuild them each cycle while they harvest and because that's how to measure their victims.

About the powertool example, I don't think it's like that. If we were capable of reaching the Sol relay, which is really out there then we were eventually going to become our killers. It's like building powertools on your own and then discovering that your drill can be improved 1000 fold by adding this glowing motor.

Did he really say that?

Edit - he actually says that he can't tell you that the end of the GAME will be on the disk not just the end of the story - somethng was planned. If you watch a little before the link he also says that DLC size and scope will depend on the fans reactions.

Hey guys, great thread. Have been following it almost the whole time, but haven't posted so far.

But now one thing came to my mind regarding the limited choices at low EMS. If Destroy is the "right" decision, why is it possible to have control as your only option?

I always felt, that destoying the collector base was the "right" choice. Maybe destroying it was not just the renegade-option(more renegade or paragon points would have no effect at this point of ME2 anyway). Maybe keeping it is merely just the TIM-option(first small step towards indoctrination) and yeah we can all see what TIM has become later on.
But what actually were the consequences of this decission? Besides well... Collector Base goes Red or Blue Explosion (sounds familiar?).
Is it possible that the decission of destoying the collector base is some kind of pre or baby-version of the cruicible desicissions?

So how did this pretty important decission effect ME3 after all? Well I see it this way:
If you got low EMS, AND kept the collector base you pretty much ****ed up twice and thus get only the most ****ty option.
But of course a decission from ME2 can't after all keep you from getting the "good" end in ME3, (as otherwise they would force you to play ME2 (and maybe even ME1) again to get your wanted import with Wrex etc.), so if your EMS is high enough, you still get the other options.

So in a nutshell: At low EMS:
Blue in ME2 -> Blue in ME3
Red in ME2 -> Red in ME3

I have to admit, that this does not really require, support or contradicts IT in any way. (As even without IT destroy remains the ending wich makes the most sence.) Even without control being a bad ending at all, it would still make some sence.

About IT:
The indoctrination theory blew my mind like nothing else in years! After some minutes of Acavyos video I was like: O.O !
But today I must confess I am not really 100% into IT anymore (shame on me, but after all I think the most important thing to learn from the whole issue should be to be sceptical and don't believe things to quickly).
Regardless I like the theory very much. More because what you awesome guys have come up with: a masterpiece of creativity and investigation (great job!), than the actual implications and evidence. It is very important, that companys react to feedback and they don't get away with a ****ty ending like that. So future games won't repeat the mistake.

I think it IS possible, that the EC will turn out as IT, but not necesarry. My main problem is, the part on the citadel with TIM and Anderson. If all this was an Illusion/IT attempt, then how could the storry resolve? Sheppard wakes up and the *real* fight goes on. You enter the citadel again, this time the *real* one, team up with the *real* Anderson and finally a big showdown with the *real* TIM. really? oO ?
And the whole deeply emotional TIM/Anderson part before becoming pretty pointless and disappointing from there on. Isn't this strange and odd from a storrytelling point of view?

This is no matter of proof or disprove and highly subjective. But for me that points makes me rather think, that IT wasn't really intended, at least in the form presented here. (But I still like it and hope it turns out to be true and thus Bioware as most badass genius gamedevelopers out there.) After all it is too much to be just coincidences.
Maybe Indoctrination starts with Harbys beam, but the part with TIM and Anderson at least still happened, with shep slowly loosing control. And when going up (ascending? wtf? it's late) to Star-Bieber the real illusion starts. (Yes this would have some problems of its own as the absurdly unreal citadel interior, but appears more convincing to me.)

About the zealotry for IT:
Well I understand that one can get angry about trolls(but after all, that is a win for them).
As a guy who studied sience-theory, let me say you one thing: there is actually NOTHING to be proven here, as ME is not reality after all. I think several guys here want to WIN the fight for IT, but well it won't work that way. Because after all, it is Biowares decision and not a matter of proving it, like a sientific theory or fact. Speculation is fine and fun (dipping into mistery, finding hints, lifting secrets), but keep in mind, its about fiction, not facts.

omfg didn't want to write that much, keep up the great work guys
@lex0r11: When the speculation ends, I will indeed be sad, because I will miss your posts so much! <3

Hehe, I created a poll about this video some time ago.

Notice that he rather says "I CAN tell you that the ending of the game...". It's the damn first comment and the desperation back then that made a "can tell" into a "can't tell".

But whatever he's actually saying, as balance5050 wrote, he IS talking about it quite a lot. Especially odd about it, why would he even mention something like this...doesn't it go without saying that the ending will be on the disc?

Remember guys, with DLCs, an ending on the discs isn't neccessarily the ending to the game. And maybe this is what happened. After all, this was my second thought after I whitnessed the ending: wtf, did I get a wrong version?

It might be me misunderstanding his words but I was pretty sure he says "I can tell you," but the 'T' from 'tell' makes it sound like he says "I can't tell you."

But again, could just be my hearing but this is great either way.

Possibly in response to Javik being a DLC character even though there are peices of Javik already on the disc. So what else is going to be DLC that has peices on the disc? Will the ending be one of them?

LOL you're silly. Post ending DLC doesn't mean IT. But I'll agree that it doesn't mean it's not IT either.

I'm just saying it's not as concrete, no pun intended, as we think it is.
