Just out of interest does anybody have a theory as to why at lower EMS you get fewer options (destroy with the collector base destroyed, control with it intact) under IT?
Just as a disclaimer I really like the IT and hope beyond hope it's true, so I'm not trying to be annoying with this auestion as I've seen some do, I'm just wondering.
Shep has a weaker army so they aren't pushing as hard to indoctrinate (if you watch scenes with low EMS the child is markedly ruder, and his first words, instead of "wake up" are "why are you here?"). Since they aren't pushing as hard you never see Synthesis on low EMS. This also means that when you're at your weakest EMS they aren't trying at all, so the choice defaults to whether or not you've already begun to fall (saved or destroyed the collector base).
EDIT - ....this is my interpretation, of course.
That makes a lot of sense, also am I right in saying that the higher your EMS the worse it makes the destroy ending sound?

Actually that's the one oddity that's recently been brought up. It seems that in some endings the child adds an extra line to Destroy, saying it will destroy most of the technology we rely on. Now, I've seen it in on low EMS and I swear the first video I saw it on was synthesis, but I haven't had time to really check yet.
If you look up the page or at the end of the last page you'll see a comparison I did on a few endings on youtube. Gonna try get people or find a way myself of comparing endings in a more controlled way.
Lol i just saw an article someone wrote saying IT was a bad/ cop out ending. he then added that this was his opinion, and that he didn't like the end of The Usual Suspects.
He should really move that Usual Suspects part to the start of his article so everyone can know not to read it
There's a theory circulating on BSN that states the more war assets you have, the worse. It's because the forces of the galaxy are stranded around Earth and other regions are falling. That's why you only get the Destroy option with low EMS.
Heh, now that's a strategy I never considered, the reapers attract the bulk of the forces away from the different home worlds leaving those home worlds to be easier pickings.
I always thought the crucible was a trap used to draw a civilisation advanced enough to make it to a killing field of sorts (it's the only way I can think of to make the reapers actions of not attacking the citadel and taking it to earth make sense), however in gameplay terms I don't think they would have a situation where the lower the EMS the better the ending you get, a major selling point for dlc will no doubt be what EMS you can add and it would actively discourage people from playing multiplayer and make people play less of the games content in replays. Though I'm still hoping that the crucible is a reaper trap in the end.
We don't know if the reapers or reaper artifacts are selective about who to indoctrinate.
It seems to me that those that are indoctrinated are useless for harvesting though - so I don't think they want mass indoctrination. Otherwise, why not just indoctrinate everyone?
Very true. But having the biggest galaxy leaders hesitating and divided, unable to unite themselves to face a common enemy is quite odd (and very useful for the Reapers) ?
I agree with you, they don't want a mass indoctrination but we also don't know what the Crucible can actually do and it can't fire/work without the Catalyst...
Someone righlty pointed out a few pages ago that moving the Citadel to Earth instead of hiding it somewhere else was a stupid move. Or a clever trick to lead the bulk of the allied forces guided by the humans to one place and wipe them out in one go. They were relying on the Crucible, persuaded that there is no other way to defeat the Reapers, consuming a huge amount of resources to build it and risking everything to protect it. Yet they found out conveniently (Chronos Station) that the Catalyst is the Citadel thus move to Earth, throwing themselves in the lion's den... Just my opinion though and a bit stretched...
If all the Reapers were at Earth, then it would be a good way to wipe out the allied forces.
With the collector base gone, the reapers may not have another way to make reapers. The Citadel has probably always been used for collecting bodies to make other reapers.
Based on earlier evidence it is believed that the reapers only believed humans to be useful for reaper form.
Now, that isn't to say that the other races won't be harvested or used in some way - maybe made into destroyers but it seems that the big ships are only created uses the best of stock. In this cycle - humans.

I didn't get it. Where we only get the Destroy ending with low EMS?

I had EMS below 2000 on two playthroughs and got only the Destroy option.

I too hate being tricked by twists.
The Sixth Sense, Fight Club, KOTOR...
I mean come, on Vader is Luke's father... ? That's such lousy writing.
Did anyone even like those movies? Who even played KOTOR either? Who wants to watch a movie where there is subtle plot development and events that challenge their pre-conceived notions? Not me. I want a spade to always be a spade. Speaking of David Spade - I hated it in Tommy Boy where it turns out he's bald. I just thought he was a selfish little ******, but then it turns out that he's self-conscious and can actually be a really cool guy. NOT COOL!
Ok enough Sarcasm. I'll return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
I think that te Crucible is what they say in game. But I agree that it was an strange move to take the Citadel to Earth. But, we do know that the Reapers underestimates the organic races. So, yes, they could've used the Citadel to mass all forces in one place to wipe them out, believing that they would defeat all the enemy forces before the Cruible's arrival.

Yeah, now I get it. I read that we only get Destroy when we have low EMS.
Of course he meant that when you have low EMS, you get only Destroy.
Anything new? It sounds like there's some news from BW, but I couldn't find anything specific.
BTW, I'm 100% on-board for Grunt as the first Krogan Spectre!
Here's some possible news: maybe a hint towards the rumored Rebellion pack: blog.bioware.com/2012/05/09/operation-silencer/: "The vorcha want in, and as soon as they complete combined-arms training with our technically-skilled personnel, we will let them loose."
Thanks a lot for the info, Max!
You have any new ideas about IT? Always interested in your opinions.
Still love the sound files posted by @TSA_383 from the shepdead Jungle scene and shepalive breath scene. Imo some interesting background going on. Seems to fit with what @DJBare suggested about the electric discharge sound at the Citadel console.
I still think my youtube video was cooler
No, it's cool, but for the squadmate lines, I like the "Never ending nightmare" video somewhat better, the background music creates the proper atmosphere for the lines. I think they were intended to be heard with emotion. But for objective analysis purpose, it's better.
Definitely hear both "Harbinger" and the child saying "Please come home" (brilliant find TSA).
What I hear: bioa_nor_600dream.wwise_norhub_dreams.env_nor_dreams_child_creepy_VO_01 Come with me
bioa_nor_600dream.wwise_norhub_dreams.env_nor_dreams_child_creepy_VO_02 Come with me
bioa_nor_600dream.wwise_norhub_dreams.env_nor_dreams_child_creepy_VO_03 ??? come home (guess that is what you guys see as "please come home" but I cannot tell if the first word is really please, too distorted for me)
Also the creepy sounds after that, these are pure guesses of what I think I hear, some lines are also just too distorted to make out any word)
8:08-8:23 (4x, and several times before, but this is the clearest one, increasing in clearness/volume/forcefullness) Come with me (last one seems to be only "Come")
8:34-8:47 (also repeated multiple times in that timespan) ??? future / Harbinger (can't tell if its either the one or the other)

I can definitely hear Harbinger. Not sure about come with me, but I think I heard something that sounds vaguely like it.

With the IT in mind, mine too.
I'd elaborate on the fact that a lower EMS score means that Shepard is less of a beacon of strength for the collective of galactic civilization, so the Reapers aren't as interested in indoctrinating him due to him being less integral to organic's decision-making, military strategy, and morale. They'd still look in Shep's mind, though, due to his/her resistance starting all the way back in ME1, but I think only having the destroy option in low EMS represents the Reapers "surveying" Shepard's strength and ultimately balking.
Well guys I dont know if the IT is true, I havent touched Mass Effect 3 singleplayer since I beat the game. I suppose how the ending is has hit home harder than I thought it would and it makes me wonder if they were going for IT wouldnt they have made more subtle hints at the theory itself, maybe still make us figure it out but still more subtle hints that what we got. I sorta feel its not worth playing ME series again on my PS3 and I should wait to do so when I can finally get a 360 again. But this train of thought isnt because I dont like IT in its self but it surely didnt help me wanna play ME3 again like it did for some people because if this is what Bioware was going for than why didnt they make it a bit more obvious and less seeming like IT believers are grasping at straws so they can keep playing ME3?
Wow, 2,177 pages! Do any of you think we should at least consider moving to a new thread?
What? No! If we abandon this notoriously known thread, we will just be troll fodder! Don't forget, this thread is kinda a safe haven from the ****storm going on outside!
