If the drive core was a Reaper artififact then how come Shepard is the only one effected? Garrus and Tali have spent the same amount of time on the ship as Shepard so it is not just a timespan issue.

Then there is Gabby and Ken who were actively working in and around the engine as well as the alliance operative who returns in ME3(whose name I forget) Jack lives under the engine in ME2, so it cannot be solely proximity based either.

It is possible that it was targetting Shepard directly, however even if this was the case you would expect other crew to at least have some adverse symptoms as seen in the derelict Reaper in ME2.

I feel the need to point out that SR1's drive core was 3x bigger than a standard drive core for a ship its size, and it in no way looked like a magically-semi-reflective-sphere-of-the-same-type-as-you-see-in-multiple-prothean-artifacts.

I think it would be nice if Shepard appeared in a possible ME4, depending on his Renegade/Paragon score: If he's Renegade he's telling the council to f*ck off would be cool in an Anderson- kind of role.. probably showing him with the LI at least once...
