I find it a shame how Sarren didn't show up as the embodiment of the Synthisis choice because after all it is along the lines of what he wanted. Speaking of Sarren why was TIM confontation so much like it? I'd accept just being inputted for the sake of story and nostalgia but it's to darn mind-bogglling putting it lightly.
I personally think the TIM confrontation is so similar for the same reason the "Citadel" looks so similar to previous areas in the games: because it is built partially/entirely from Shepard's memories.

First off S-A-R-E-N, second off, we are saying it's intentional, since Shepard's mind formed the encounter from something both familiar and similar, hence the similarities. And if Saren had shown up it would have made IDT too obvious.

Well I'm considerably better at it than he is, even with sleep deprived mental faculties, so technically, he has a two hole handicap on THIS golfcourse.

are you kidding me? i havent been here a while. you are the ones still speculating about the ending of a game which was released 2 month ago. who has nothing better to do?
Well speaking for myself, I just pop in every now and then to see if anything new has happened, or any new evidence for IDT has been brought forth...
To put it bluntly, I'm coming in here because it is a theory I approve of and am interested to learn of any new information or ideas. While on the contrary, you come in here to put down people's beliefs and troll for your own amusement.
Now, Waldstr and fellow BSN people, which is the sadder person, based on these two descriptions?
Note: I wouldn't know if you have or haven't been around because I haven't, but when I was last here I saw you trolling, come back in two weeks later, and the first post I see is you, stirring people yet again.

You might be missing the point a bit. The point is that in an attempt to reinforce the belief that all elements from the post-Harbinger's beam sequence are created from elements in Shepard's memory, we look to find (or not find) things from previous areas of the game that match up with elements from the ending.
But how reliable is that when we see things like this everywhere and we know that all of it came from reveresed engineered tech from the Citadel?

Supernovas
produces the same destructive power of 10^162 Gigaton of TNT
They full strength of the blast has a range of 10au depending on the size of the sun, but the remnant shockwave and radiation has a travel distance of around 50au with dissipating intensity over distance.
The Sol System Relay
For Relay orbiting distance the Sol Relay was approximately sitting 39au from our star.
The Mu Relay
It was estimated that the Mu Relay was much closer to the star that went supernova (possibly as close at 13au based on in-game start charts) but just to be lenient lets say it was still 39au from the blast center.
Due to It’s distance from the blast center it was hit with approximately only 10 Gigaton of TNT and as a result was not damaged but was flung out of it’s orbit. Although it could have been as high as 10^6 Gigaton.
The Citadel
As stated in Mass Effect Revelation The Citadel is made from the same materials as the Mass Relays. The presidium and each arm also contains pods that produce mass effect fields the protect the wards by keeping the outer skin separate from the rest of the structures, which protects it from intense external damage. It stands to reason the Citadel (with it’s arms closed) could also sustain external hits of a Gigaton or greater.
In essence; the Citadel would have to incur a massive internalized explosion, where it is most vulnerable. To be lenient lets place the explosion at no greater than 1 Gigaton (although could be as great as 10 Gigaton).
The Human Body
At 537 degrees celsius (1000 Fahrenheit) the human skin catches fire.
At 982 degrees celsius (1800 Fahrenheit) human bones can turn to ash
The blast that would have destroyed the Citadel would have produced temperatures in excess of 8,000,000 degrees celsius (14,400,032 Fahrenheit) vaporizing anyone inside the blast zone.
So what am I trying to say, well....
*Snip*
That's a fair assesment. Can you try calculating the effects of reentering a planet's atmosphere and imacting the ground wearing just a space suit?
Also, knowing how difficult it is for sarcasm to be confused on forums in general, let me be clear and say that this is a serious question and no offense or sarcasm was intended.

I have to say Hellish that when I first finished ME3, I just thought BioWare had fobbed the ending but couldn't get it out of my head and just felt depressed.
I had read too many comics, too many books, looked at too much of the artwork, played the games way too much and just felt something didn't add up, I invested myself too much in this universe and just I couldn't let it go. So I played through the game a few more times and pieces started to fall into place, really obvious pieces, but I thought I was just trying to make something out of nothing, but than of course I found this forum, started reading what all you guys thought and all the pieces started to click together, not only that but I realised that I wasn't the only one to think these things.
What I've noticed is that most ITers know the lore and invested into the lore and every new bit of information just fits perfectly. I'm yet to discover a new piece of the ME lore that doesn't indicate that BioWare has made something intelligent and thought provoking and maybe unfortunatly screwed themselves (for now) becaues it was too in-depth for some.
I feel like BioWare made two games when they made ME3 - a game for the hardcore fans, who could find and expose all these tiny details hidden away in places that others fear to tread, The gamer that loves delving into the deeper mystery and the other game is this game for everyone which just happens to be a solid performing shooter with a bizarre ending.
I agree with you on most of that. I said something similar (though not as eloquently) earlier today in fact (or was it yesterday? I'm tired....). The only part where we diverge is thinking Bioware screwed themselves. AsDJBareSean Connery pointed out earlier, Bioware said they wanted to make us, the players, feel like we're going through what Shepard is going through in the game. Everything that's happened so far in real-life is conducive towards that goal.
Think about it. If we had true Shepard-style dialog trees for the starkid conversation, we'd have had the ability to express all the same emotions and opinions that we, the players, have been expressing to Bioware. Anger, frustration, confusion, doubt, etc the list goes on. Right now we are more Commander Shepard than we've ever been.
Eloquent? maybe! But not eloquently enough; as I should have mentioned that once the pieces of the IT started sliding into place I looking back on when I felt more emotional (rather than rational) about the ending that I did feel like I was now one with Shepard and was actually feeling what he's been going through.
But as you said about being able to express the true feelings of Shepard, I too believe that because of the nature of indoctrinated being what it is, My Shep couldn't act out on screen what I felt as the player, which now reminds me of what Matriarch Benezia said about creating a safe haven in her mind, but because of it she was disconnected from her actions and had to effectively watch herself perform vile atrocities but at the cost of having no power to stop it.
But as we know, Shepard's will power and resolve is stronger...
So I guess what I mean is that in the eyes of the fans who don't believe in IT BioWare has made a terrible ending, but in the eyes of those who believe in IT, BioWare have made the deepest ending in gaming history ... just too deep for some (until the EC that is)

All things considered? Pretty darn reliable, I'd say. Theres a laundry list of consistencies and inconsistiences that support the notion.

All I know is it had those same shockwave wall thing that the shadow broker had on his ship during LotSB. Now when you examine them during LotSB Liara states that they are to conduct the surrounding lightning, preventing it from doing damage to the ship and also to provide them a source of electricity. So why would the ciitadel need some such construct?

Someone said a while back that this thread is Bioware's crown achievement, or something like that. I kind of agree with that, as its great that they put enough clues in there to piece together and figure it out. But I'd say that both sides of the coin are equally victories for Bioware. Because their intent is ostensibly to attempt to indoctrinate the player, in that regard, the topics that say things like "Synthesis is just beautiful" are just as much an accomplishment for Bioware as this one.
