I don't know if the position of the Apien Crest in the first picture matches with the second.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but in this case, if there was really a relay-position mistake by BioWare, if it's was just that, a mistake. I know we ITers are inclined to suspect of every suppost "errors" in the game, but there are errors and sometimes they're just that.

Which two pictures are you referring to?

Ah, but it's not a mistake, since they apparently knew enough to rotate the galaxy to the right degree, then animate the beams travelling from relay to relay correctly.

The mistake would be, as you said, the galaxy itself, that have several differences from the Galaxy Map to the ending cutscene.

The Apien Crest, in the GM picture, appears to be in the Perseus arm, and in the cutscene it's in the Norma arm. So the comparisson is not so accurate, at my point of view.

I just had a thought, how do we know it is the same way up as the galaxy map. There are similar clumps of systems in basicly the same sorts of spots. It in all honestly could be turned around and Sol could be at the top and not at the bottom.

the red ending Kind of throws IT out the window because normally sleeping reduses the use of braincells to minimum meaning Shepard has to be somewhat concious to be able to make that choice.

With IT Shepard is fighting on a subconscious level, Anderson and TIM represent the fight, if Shepard allows TIM to shoot him, fight over, if Shepard chooses anything but destroy, fight over he has given in to indoctrination, by selecting destroy he has defeated the indoctrination process and begins to wake up, remember IT says Shepard never left earth, never made it to the citadel, everything is in his/her mind, Anderson representing the fight against indoctrination and TIM representing the indoctrination process fighting back.

i agree that it may be a hallucination, but did anyone think that just maybe, it is just because Shepard is losing blood and not Indoctrination?

This is a probability, but it's also likely that the reapers are using this weakened state to indoctrinate Shepard, in Retribution the reapers had to put Grayson to sleep to further indoctrinate him, while awake he was able to fight the process, at least on a mental level, while Grayson slept they went further into his thought processes taking more control.

Only one version of IT has Shepard sleeping.  I call that version DreamIT.

Aside from this being a story, and lots of precedence for people making decisions in dreams in fiction, the choice is subconcious, we're only seeing the visualisation of it.

which is why hallucination by blood loss is just as viable as IT. at the end when the Citadel looks wacky, it could be that Shepard, suffering from the blood loss, is hallucinating all the places he/she been to and attrbuting parts of those to the Citadel (representing his subconcious mind)

@Hoodaticus: did not know only one does that, but still Blood loss hallucination works just as well as IT do you not think.

The Local Cluster would then be on the upper side. So what?

I'm certain most here remember the child photo on the citadel

But how many notice the ginger headed woman appears to be transfixed by it?

On a side note, there's an easter egg in the top image, the photo of the man in white armor was the original concept for the default male Shepard.

It could be, though that seems unlikely. Besides, like I said, the galaxy itself is not picture perfect in it's replication (unless someone can rip the galaxy map texture so we can rotate it and compare) so the most accurate reading we can do is a general positioning from the spoke bit and the positions of the systems. And the systems match with the Apien Crest.

For what it's worth, I've looked at the galaxy map/space magic wave pics, and I think I have to agree with Dante. They do seem to line up as depicted by the lines/numbers.

And the :-\\ face is hilarious, too. :P

No artistic reason to do blood loss, though. Indoctrination is unique to Mass Effect and can only be shown through games. Illusions due to blood loss can be shown in any media.

Thank you Hellish, everyone else seems to be fixed on the galaxy, as opposed to the pattern created by the beams.

Except IT is supported by precedent events and lore, foreshadowing, and context. I'm not saying blood loss isnt a possible factor, heck it most likely is, but a secondary factor, at best.

it could be that the reapers are using a hallucination caused by Blood loss, manipulating it so Shepard does not think that the reapers are involved in it

Blood loss causes hallucination, reapers manipulate it. Simple, right?

I thought so. ;______; But nobody seems to really think much of this screenshot... reflections of trees in the Catalyst chamber area.

I desperately wish someone would confirm this, since it appears to be a Flycam angle, and I don't have it on PC, so I can't confirm it for myself.
