The voice being that of Sheps, doesn't prove that this is true. Don't go insane to then just get bitterly disapointed.

Not only did Anderson get to the console first. He also says he followed me up. I checked. There was no one behind me. Everyone died from that blast. Then he says he is in a different area but it's similar to what you are describing. Then you see him at the console.. but there is only one way to get the console and that's the way you came from. Then the Illusive appears randomly behind you. This event was obviously not real.

The voices are pretty solid evidence this is happening in your head. Why would some alien VI in a never before seen area of the Citadel have your voice in it?

RE: The Player indoctrination Theory of the OP. Sort of rambling on, but here we go:

Indoctrination is suppose to sominate one's free will. Both Saren and TIM were shown to have very powerful wills, enough to resist the indoctrination process for a time, but ultimately succumb.
Shepard is different though, Shepard actually has NO free will. Shepard is *our* avatar, his will is our will. Bioware could write up a whole bunch of different stuff to do to Shepard to convey Reapers attempts at indoctrinating him, but Reaper indoctrination simply does not work for Shepard because ultimately Shepard will is bound to the whims of the player.

Thus, with the "crucible" being a test, indoctrination being the domination of one's free will, and with the players being the source of Shepard's "free" will, it makes sense to me that the Reaper God Child's sudden appearence serves as a test of wills, the Reapers versus the Player. Shepard appears to be on the cusp of entering the Citadel and defeating the Reapers when he is hit with a laser. Could it be that this attempt at indoctrinating Shepard/The Player serves as the Reapers last gasp at avoiding their own extinction? At this point, the only real thing that could prevent Shepard from not destroying the Reapers is, well, you. So, like the Player Indoctrination Theory states, these last few minutes of the game perhaps serve as a way for the player to expierence just what it is like to come under the influence of indoctrination. That Shepard only "wakes up" in the destroy ending seems very telling right there, to me.

Yeah, it's a huge stretch, but what the hell, it makes more sense than taking the endings at face value, imo.

My brain has been splattered across my beautiful wall. It kind of reminds me of MGS2 where you had to pull out the controller and put it in port 2 so the boss wouldn't be able to predict your moves. It would only add to the mindf*** if this all turns out to be true. Actually, no matter what happens I think we all can agree that the ending is a total mindf***.

Also, I'd like to add that in the destroy ending where Shepard wakes up that you see that scene AFTER the Normandy crash lands. If it was before then it would mean something, but you see Shepard wake up AFTER so he just woke up from the dream/hallucination.

Lastly, I just wanted to say that, for the record, I picked Destroy on my first playthrough. I though about it limping from one choice to another and then I was like "why the f*** am I thinking even thinking about this? I came here to destroy them."

Also...has anybody noticed, that the godchild says "wake up" only on high ems scores? I heared in my ending(3000ems) "Why are you here" there was no "wake up". Now I watched the best ending on YT. The child says "wake up".

But now, watch this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlyGL9Cqsxw#t=08m40s
And compare it with this vid:

Heared it? Another proof for the indoctrination theory!!!

very interesting^

There is a saying that goes "Those who fear death cannot escape it"

I like how the option that will kill Shepard will save him. With no fear of death, and an absolute resolve to kill the reapers - he is strong enough to survive the manipulating deceiving little brat. God I love it.

Well, Shepard dies in all the possible endings, but in Destroy it is the only ending where he can "wake up" if the player has enough EMS points.

if this is all true. then bioware is the king of RPG's and actually gave us a real morale in the story.
they deserve a round of applause.

Not sure if this has been brought up, seemed the best place to put it as I to after feeling let down by the end now believe Indoctrination is the real intent.

If only because Bioware has tried it before, In other games, just in those games it was a clear 'I disbelieve this reality'
I realise they are different development groups but Dragon Age had a dream like segment in a half hearted attempt to trick the Warden, I also have a vague recolition of NWN or one of its expansion packs doing the same. So I'd like to think that gives some precedent of Bioware's writers being able to think this stuff up and actually pulling it off properly for once.

QFE. I can say I did not hesitate. The other two options just felt wrong in every way.

More proof that the God Child is actually shep's mind, otherwise why would you put shep's voice with it.

I did too.  I even shot the one standing there on the citadel, because all the choices suck, plus it's right there so I figure why not lol.

sorry, english is my first language but i suck at and i dont care

1. endings leaked- bw came up with this little indoctrination ending to compensate

2. bw released space edition knowing people would blab. real ending coming so everyone would get it at the sametime (what a genius way to end a truly epis story like mass effest)

3. casey hudson said hold on to your saves. ending expansion pack (DA:O awakining style)

4. read the codex on indoctrination

5. infinite bullets

6. shepard waking up on earth

7. squad mates teleporting unharmed onto a normandy getting ready to jump through a relay

8. destroy being the renagede option (In dreams everthing is reversed.... also kinda explains 1m1)

9. gambles post about this being the hardest day ever.

10. guide book talks about secret ending possibly taken out. only to be given to us later.

11. kid dissapearing after you destroy

12. vega talking about humming

13. allmost killing virmire survivor

14. reapers hate you why would they tell you the truth. Read the art of war.

15. little kid is the catylist

16. EA likes money

17. trees magically appearing

18. sheps voiced under little boys

19. shep does not have a breathing mask on ( in mass effet 1 when your elevetor stops shep says "suit up" then you fight up the citidel tower

19.5 little kid smirks at you when you choos merge or control

20. EA aka rEApers like money

I know how bad and disappointing it is, but don't run away from the fact that it is a bad writing.

It's like you read Harry Potter, 7 of them, and then JK Rowling tells you at the end of the last paragraph that this is all just a dream LOL

No, it is actually like Voldemort was in Harry's mind, and made him believe Sirius was in danger to lure him to the ministry of magic, so yeah, J.K Rowling totally used the same effect to create a twist, and it was awesome. Check your facts before comparing

Oh my god, it's a freaking analogy and it's for the ending!!!! The point is it's a freaking lazy ass bad written ending.

And you are the one that has to get the fact right because that didn't happen in the last 2 min or the last paragraph of the book, did it? -"-

the ending was like "The wand refused to kill the one to whom it had allegiance, further
protecting Harry. During the duel, Harry refuses to use the killing
curse and even encourages Voldemort to feel remorse, one known way to
restore Voldemort's shattered soul. Voldemort dies when his own killing
curse backfires; he and his Death Eaters are finally defeated. The wizarding world is able to live in peace once more."

....If I were to add "sorry, suck to be you, this is all just a dream hahaaa~~~" to that last page.... it will give the same outrage of the fan effect as well duh

Except the "ending" wasn't the actual ending. If you actually read the thread you'd know that by now.

Yes, read the damn thread, and also the theory only covers the last "weird" part not the whole trilogy, so NO it would not be the same thing as the last paragraph saying "this was all a dream" in ANY book. Nice quote from wikipedia btw

Assuming this is right and everything is planned, what if the real end is on the disk not DLC? It would only be fair to non online players of the game. Maybe at a certain point in time the content will become available. Like additional classes to play as in the Too Human demo only made available if the clock on your console was past the release date of the full game (Though different developer entirely, just giving an example).

I vaguely told my boyfriend ( who hasn't even finished 2 yet @_@, but did see the ME3 demo) that if I knew what I knew now when I started, I woulda thrown the kid in front of The Reaper my damn self.

Hell, this goes way back with Baldur's Gate, mate, ghost people would try to trick you... and honestly it was convicent back then (only it was showed to be a dream shortly after).

"You have choice, more than you deserve"

"Our future depends on you"

combined with the way he tries to imply he isn't actually a reaper, he just controls them up until he starts saying "Us" when he talks about them has me totally convinced.

After reading this i'm getting some hope for the ending.

The only problem i can see with this is that the theory hinges on Shepard surviving in the rubble (meaning that the whole thing was an indoctrination attempt) since that would be the only way for it to make sense.

The problem here is that if it really was just horrible writing that didn't make sense, the whole Shepard waking up in the rubble could just be another nonsensical part of the ending.

I hope that this thread is right and that our hopes would be answered promptly. Otherwise I think I will have to learn coding or scripting to actually get some people together and create a new ending.

Funny, you will only live through the Destroy ending with high points right? Amazing find Mr. FrostByte!

i have a idea maybe it is a squad mate you took with you on the run to the relay and is telling you to walk up only if you have high enough ems but if you have lower ems them your sqaud mates are dead and it is only the child talking to you

This actually makes a lot of darn sense.
