That could be fun.  Maybe a prequel.  Also, I still want to see a retake Omega DLC where we get Aria as a temp or even permanent squadmate.

Yeah, Omega DLC with Aria is a must!

My favourite characters in the series were Aria and Jack. Was totally gutted that neither of them got big roles in ME3.

Maybe I just have a thing for women with backbone, much more fun :P

I just came out with a really wild theory. If the Citadel and Mass Relays were built by the Reapers, could they be giant indoctrination devices? I certainly spent a lot of time there during all three games. As I remember anyone aboard Sovereign started acting all weird.

So does anything Reaper related have the ability to indoctrinate or just certain things?

There's been some speculation here that some low level indoctrination signal may be emitted by the Citadel to pacify the galactic governments

seconded, thirded, forthed and fifthed :D

One thing I sorely felt the lack of in ME3 was hubs like Illium and Omega. I do understand that it is wartime so no time to fool around, but i still miss getting drunk and passing out :D And making that baatarian bartender drink his own poison.. good times.

Liara and Garrus: <Sten> No. </Sten>
Ashhole and the most boring being in existence: I doubt it, but here's hoping.

Wow, that's a good pun. Too bad I disagree with you completely. ;) Also, I like Kaidan, although I like Jacob too, so that might void my opinion.

Aye, it's too bad for you, but don't beat yourself up, no one can be right all the time.
Compare to Kaiden, Jacob is the most interesting and charasmatic human being that ever lived. If boring had a gravitational pull, Kaiden would recompress the universe into a single tiny object like pre-big bang. That scene on Destroy where the Reapers just fall over dead? What happened is that they hooked Kaiden up to it instead of Shepard and he somehow managed to put synthetics to sleep within 15 seconds of the phrase "Jump Zero."
As for Ashhole, I'm hard pressed to think of a single redeeming quality. After Horizon (ME2, not 3) I'm not entirely sure how either VS's ant-sized brain is producing enough energy to make a human body move. It's truly a wonder.

Dwailing wrote...

Wait, Batman armor for Shepard? That would be awesome! Although, it might be more appropriate for Garrus, since he's pretty much Space Batman. Yes, I know about that business with killing people, but the essence of why they do what they do is pretty much the same.

Not true. Garrus has a far superior grasp of morals and common sense. Emoman refuses to kill villains even when the alternative is letting them free to kill again. Oh sure, he blew up a hospital for giggles last time, but this time he'll behave I'm sure. Look what a good mood he's in, always smiling now. Garrus? Garrus will murder them so hard that they disappear from old pictures like Michael J Fox's brother in Back to the future. And that's the way it should be.

Exactly! And I should have at least a basic knowledge of Batman since I have been playing Batman: Arkham City recently, and have been absolutely LOVING it so far. It easily deserves a 10, and I think it is the best game of 2011.

Skyrim wins. It's not even a competition. If you discount Skyrim, I'd say Witcher 2. But again, Skyrim blows everything else out of the water.

I'm assuming about as long as humans. The Asari and Krogan are unique for having such a long life span, and conversely, the Salarians are unique for having such a short life span. Also, I remember that they mentioned that the average Drell has a life span of 85 years. As for the rest, I'm guessing they're similar to humans, since those are the only ones I remember that were actually explicitly stated.

Why do I keep finding myself replying the same person over and over? O_o Anyway, pretty much. Turians and quarians have a human-ish lifespan. Don't know about drell. Vorcha get the shortest end of the stick, keeling over of old age at the big two-zero.

No. I never want to play an established character in ME. One of the things BW does so very right is making sure you have a clean slate to make your character have whatever attitude and beliefs you want them to. As I always play paragon, it would bother me to no end playing as Aria. Hell, it even bothers me to play Geralt in Witcher and I only rarely find myself drawn to different paths than the ones Geralt would take in the books.

Backbone? That wouldn't be my word for it. While I certainly wouldn't call either of them "evil" they definitely have some highly dubious pasts. I wouldn't call those backbone. Samara has backbone, but she also has integrity and honor.

Hey guys. Guys. New idea from my drunk tank. Came up with it when writing a post for another thread which I'll link now cause seriously, it's worth a read.

Consider the protheans for a moment. Consider that they were at work constructed the Crucible. Realize that Vendetta never actually mentions that it was never finished. Nor that it wasn't deployed.

Think of the collectors. Specifically, the collector general. Could that general have been the one who, so very very long ago, deployed the crucible?

Did it get caught in a similar dream as Shepard's? Did it fall into the same trap? Was it offered the same choice? What would it have chosen?

We already know.

Mordin once said...

"... No soul. Replaced by tech. Whatever they were, gone forever."

Synthesis.

It's happened before.

*****

Also, look at the Vendetta dialogue again.

Shepard: Tell us what the Catalyst is.

Vendetta: If you wish to continue fighting, I will not hinder you. Though I deem your odds of success rmeote.

Shepard: We'll take our chances

Vendetta: Very well, if you have followed the plans for the Crucible, I will interface with your systems and assist with the Catalyst to... Indoctrinate presence detected. Activating security protocol.

I don't know about you. But the sounds to me like the Citadel isn't the true Catalyst.

Actually, both Javik and Vendetta say (or at least imply) that the Crucible was never deployed.

Shepard - "What happened to the Crucible in your time. Why didn't the protheans deploy it?"

Vendetta - "We were sabotaged from within. A splinter group argued we should dominate the Reapers rather than destroy them. It fractured our order of battle. Later we discovered the separatists were indoctrinated."

Javik, when asked on the Normandy immediately after recruiting him, says that the Crucible wasn't finished because they ran out of time.

Liara says something similar on Mars.

But you raise a good point. The collectors are another example of the Reaper's version of Synthesis and why accepting it on the "Catalyst's" terms is fraught with peril. I also agree that the Catalyst is surely not the actual catalyst. Bioware has consistently named things true to their definition. Shepard is a shepherd of people, The Citadel is a citadel, the Reapers harvest, The Crucible is a galactic test, but the Catalyst does nothing catalysty. In contrast, the Citadel, used as a power source to energize and direct the crucible's power would be something catalysty.

That's how I see the content, absolutely, though BioWare's official claim about the dev cycle states otherwise---which does impact whether it's acknowledged as surface-level canon or not (the "my Shepard didn't experience this" argument).

Javik's role in the current game isn't necessary, or plot changing, from my perspective. What he does add is insight and possible plot hints which players will miss if they do not have the DLC. Not what I'd consider MUST HAVE (essential) for the story, but it gives the story greater depth.

But I'm a **** for additional information and dialogue, so in my personal case he is a "must have". :P

While I mostly agree, he does rewire one key part of the universe: the asari religion, unless I'm missing the Thessia revelations somewhere else in the conversations.

That, and the things we infer about how far the Crucible progressed in their cycle.

Also for everyone who has played the Arrival DLC the reaper artifact clearly states that you will be under it's control (right before it knocks you out) if there was any time for shep to get indoctrinated that was it (not to mention it sounds a lot like harbinger... who just so happens to appear at the end)

-Also some stuff to pay closer attention to--
- When in the dream sequence on the citadel you see the shadow brokers engines
- You see the star child die twice in the first 10 mins of the game (the exploding building he runs into and again on the shuttle leaving earth)
- Look at the dream sequences and re-read the codex on indoctrination, see anything familiar.
- FINALLY why does harbinger up and leave as soon as shep gets hit by the reaper's beam at the end?

OK, I'm going to go to bed now. See you all later. Also, before I go, I ran the math in my head and, assuming you were full Renegade with absolutely no Paragon decisions, there is a net gain of, drum role please, NINE POINTS to your war asset total. That is not a definitive count, but I just figured I should share the math that I did in my head at 12:00 A.M. ;) (I'm assuming you let the Rachni Breeder on die in ME3. I know that's considered a "Paragon" option, but honestly, saving it if you killed the Rachni Queen in ME1 just seems stupid.)

Edit: Also, I took into account the decision on the Citadel to support the dock officer over the refugee.  I know it's not technically Renegade, but I personally think Shepard is being a jerk there if he doesn't let the poor guy's family on board.

Also:
So yeah, guys, it appears we now understand a little more about the LegendSave file:

-It is written the first time you complete the game with a given Shepard.
-Going back and making a new choice won't overwrite it. You get one shot.

Now, looking at IT, don't you think Bioware would be interested in a file like this, so that they could say "We successfully indoctrinated x% of players"?

Sounds kinda like a geeky admission, but mine would actually be the same as my "optimal" canon play-through anyway since I was pretty thorough during my first round---aound 5000 EMS and a 70/30 paragade score.
