From the moment I got hit by that laser while charging for the Citadel beam, I thought I somehow missed a combat dodge roll. The entire sequence after that, I thought was fake, some kind of dream sequence that makes no sense. I kept waiting for reality to snap back to Shepard, but no scene came.
This thread confirms my suspicions about what was really going on. I really hope I'm not wrong

Has anyone finished the game as a level 60?

Friend of mine finished on 60 with an imported Shep. There is nothing but these endings.
I followed this for a while now, because I'm also disappointed by the lack of closure and the inconsistencies. As much as I would love this theory to be true, isn't it easier to accept that the ending is just what it is? A non-closure deus-ex-machina ending where you pick your colour? I really hope it's not the case, but it's way easier to accept, especially since there are no REAL hints that there is a hidden ending on the disc and no official word from bioware even though the game has been out for more than a week.

The game hasn't been released in Japan yet. So there's still hope. Although...it is hard to not get overly hopeful....being crushed again doesn't sound like a good experience!

Don't think this is easier to accept. If I wanted this type of ending, I'd have just stuck with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. At least in that game the ending made sense within the context of the story.

Its nice to see a huge chunk of people going with this theory now, because if you know anything about Mass Effect its hard to deny that it all fits to some extent.
And if it turns out that we have figured it out then i'm a 100% happy to keep my ending as it is, I beat indoctrination and survived, I can wait for what happened after that.
But I would like confirmation at some point that this theory is correct, just to shut up all the people whining about how bad the endings are.

That doesn't disprove this theory at all. All it means is: as of Thessia, Shepard had not succumbed to indoctrination. Doesn't mean he is impervious to indoctrination, or that he could not be indoctrinated at a later time.Nefelius wrote...
VI on Thessia and later on Cerberus station saw no indoctrination signs in Shepard.

If it's true, they should say: Hold on to your ME3, we have a surprise for you!
(this would let us continue to speculate on what the true ending would be, and could actually be fun in doing so)
If it's false, they should say, the game is as it is, and open for each individual player's interpretation as to what the endings mean.
(this would save a huge chunk of the fanbase's time by not letting us get our hopes up, and speculate on the forums like we are doing now, days in and days out)
Either way, I am fairly disappointed in Bioware's reaction to the public's outcry for answers... they just made incredible sums of money from this product, and should at the very least let us know what is going on.....

King: Began @masseffect 3 at the weekend and now all I read is how bad
the end is. Good feeling about the game gone. Thanks, gaming community.
Mass Effect: That truly sucks. Just think happy thoughts. ;-)
Feres
Rainwhisker: I had a dream where I woke up from the very last bit of
the game with the 3 paths. Wishful thinking, or foreshadowing?
Mass Effect: Haha! Maybe. ;-)

I mean after 5-7 minutes of not choosing any of the endings, you die and get message that The Crucible was destroyed. It would seem that if this really was case of indoctrination, then reapers wouldn't be in any hurry to make Shepard choose.

yeap, or a harvester or something. That rubble has always been London for me regardless, the Citadel isn't made out of concrete.

This is very interesting I mean they keep dodging the question most developers would have a response by now if fan outrage became this large.Flapperrr wrote...

Still a pretty vague and undecisive response.

So how does the game over screen during the final choice fit to the theories about indoctrination / hallucination?

very interesting point but maybe also just a sign that the real Crucible was destroyed because that was all the time the Reapers needed to destroy it? After all, Hacket and his people bring the Crucible in secretely so the Reapers don't destroy it on the way to the Citadel.
