Could someone check if this update included a fix to the flashback video you get when you choose an ending? As I recall, if you have Tali as a romance, you see Liara instead.

I think the update was for this:
There's a new weapons/equipment pack in Multiplayer.

The update has only seemingly touched the win32 file in binaries, doubt it means anything other than code fixes.

Oh, and speaking of the battle Palaven... was anyone else disappointed that we didn't get see any Reaper capital ships bite the dust in this game? I know some were destroyed, probably quite a number of them, but we never SEE it. It felt damn good to see Sovereign pop like a water balloon after that disruptor torpedo. :(

So I have a message from a friend of mine who was looking at the save editor that was released. He has beaten the game but all his save files are listed as not finished.

The three end game states are: out in a blaze of glory, not finished, and live to fight another day

I think I recall seeing a "live to fight another day" save editor screen cap earlier in the thread - somewhere back there in the abyss.  I think that referred to the Destroy ending.  Can you ask your friend which endings he took to get each save type?

If not already adressed, Synthesis also flags as "Lived to Fight Again" for NG+.

i'm abotu to check my control ending

Results...most likely expected

[edit] Also flagged as live to fight again.

Bumping because this is important.

No it isnt, the new game plus will obviously be flagged as that, you cant exactly play before the ending if you're dead.

Okay than what is Out in Blaze of Glory for? Also NG+ is a new save, so the whole thing is before the ending, it starts from the very beginning of the game as a new save. So I don't really understand your statement. If you could clarify that would be nice.

Okay, one more thing to point out about the kid at the start. I'm convinced he's a ninja as well. After Anderson goes through the door that Shepard is holding open and is now alone the only reason Shepard turns back is because of the sound of metal bending (kid crawling in the duct). This is important because there is not a single sound of the kid actually leaving the duct when Anderson calls for Shepard.

The "kid" made a hell of a lot of noise getting Shepard's attention, but turns into an assassin of the night when he leaves? yea, I know sound designers. They don't mess things like that up accidentally.

Wonder if it was a Exorcist Glitch Fix lol (seriously, Shepard had his head turned to the side the entire time after asking about the Broker VI the first time I chatted her up. I lost it with laughter though.)

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned and it would be hard to search specifically for this in the thread, but does anyone else think that the indoctrination of Shepard to rally the galaxy makes the most sense? Bring all the races, all the fighters to one spot to fight an unknown number of giant infinitely powerful enemies. What took the Reapers hundreds of years in previous cycles would now only take them one...with no resistance after the initial push. All that would be left after the battle of earth would be clean up.

Hmm, that's a possibility.  If the reapers believed that they couldn't be defeated even by the combined might of the galaxy then it would make sense to lure them all into a trap and destroy them in one fell swoop.  Kind of like what the Emperor had planned to do to the Alliance in Return of the Jedi.

I doubt it.  When the Reapers attacked Palaven, the turians didn't back down at all.  Despite suffering extremely heavy losses on their own side, the turians still managed to destroy multiple Reaper capital ships.  That's why the Reapers pulled back and opted for a slow and steady approach rather than just deciminating the turians head-on.  The Reapers would much rather play a waiting game than lose capital ships.  Patience isn't a problem for a being whose lifespan is measured in the millions of years.

A drawn out war of attrition would definitely favour the reapers, since they are ageless beings and don't really seem to suffer from supply or morale problems.  The goal of dealing a decisive blow is always desired in war, however.  I guess it would depend on if they considered the force they gathered at Earth to be large enough to overwhelm the combined fleets while suffering only acceptable losses.

I admit, through my first playthrough, I just figured it was the end of the game and never actually took the time to analyze anything other than the ending cutscene (which leaves huge holes.) But now that i've seen this I think back to it and it totally makes sense now.

I also think that this was BioWare's plan all along, The ending just fits too perfectly to not be planned. And besides, with the previous Mass Effect games, there has never been this level of poor writing not to mention that the BioWare employees even said that there would be a generous amount of choice in the final moments of the game and that all your previous choices would come into focus. (I realize that that may mean nothing at this point but i think it might be safe to say that the developers aren't lying about a game they were in the process of making.)

I'm not sure what drove BioWare to do what they did, but what ever it was, it certainly took cojones.

If BioWare manages to pull this off, this might just go down in history as the biggest gaming troll ever or the best save of a gaming francise to date.

I applaud you BioWare, even if it is too early to assume anything.

I fought indoctrination for the longest time, but I'm starting to succumb... ;)

I think part of me wants it so badly because the ending is so atypical of Bioware (DA2 notwithstanding though just my opinion) and from the limited communications from Twitter hinting at 'interpretations'.

At first I assumed that meant we are totake the endings as shown, but then interpret that things don't really turn out as bad as it seems for the galaxy at large, or even the Normandy crew.

However it occurred to me either dream or indoctrination attempt does count as 'interpretation'.

Considering how angrily I've responded, it seems weird to feel that I'm really hoping I've been punked.

hmm has anybody found it odd that shepard never actually sees TIM except when he's a hologram and even then he's never shown to have the amount of reaper corruption he has on the citadel? if the indoctronation theory is true (and god do I hope it is) could TIM play the part of the indoctronation, anderson play the part of shepard's will power and the actual shepard we see play the part of his/her conscious?

I call it Satans' 5 o'clock shadow
I did find it odd how quickly it progressed assuming Shepard went straight there after the base, when he looked completely normal.
