I remember the theories this conjured when Arrival came out, been awhile since anyone posted that picture.

To be fair all the covered bodies in ME3 have that "ME3" thing on them.

"No matter which of ME3′s endings you choose, the Mass Relays are all destroyed. Yes, despite the weakness of an ending that robs the galaxy of critical technology, the multicolored explosions (player choice!) are certainly pretty. But in The Arrival, it was firmly established that the destruction of a Mass Relay would result in an explosion resembling a supernova, destroying the relay’s star system. In Mass Effect 3′s ending, the Mass Relays are destroyed in explosions so massive that they’re depicted as being visible from a perspective that resembles the Normandy’s Galaxy Map. Which means that Shepard has probably killed more life forms than the Reapers could on their best cycle."

Uh... where did this come from?!

Arrival DLC, right before you find Kenson.

OMG...mind, BLOWN!

Guys. Someone mentioned that all the bodies have 3 on them. Let's not jump to conclusions. Take a minute, process the "evidence," and try to provide counter arguments. Or do some digging of your own.

We want to progress our argument, not have it become redundant.

Some people have offered the theory that smashing an asteroid into a Mass Relay produces different results than overloading a relay with "space magic," to say the least.

BTW (image removed)

Just for reference, this image is on the back of the box that contained all the CE stuff like the artbook, the patch, postcard, etc.

Oooh, just noticed something!  It seems to me that if you flip that picture on it's right side, those things sticking up in the background look just like those structures that surround the beam...the bare arm being pulled up from the rubble could be Shepard's.

yeah.  The setting and shep's arm seems clear.  Now, whose armored arm is pulling him out? :)

Well, the armour looks like Shepard's too.  Maybe a metaphor meaning he has to pick himself back up and carry on?

I like that.  Let's decide it's true :D

Sounds good!  Hurray, I contributed! Posted Image

MY god, I hope this is all true, could you imagine how much this has been pieced together from so many sources.

Here is to hoping for 1m1 being 15!

second this... read OP and digest all the info and let's bring up more concrete evidence.

Since you need a high battle rediness and to choose destroy ending.. many people will choose other endings..

I think it will be this

cru·ci·ble
2. A severe test, as of patience or belief; a trial.

Matthew 7
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

It's symbolism here people.. The crucible, The beam in your eye.
It's our fate we choose.. Not the galaxies.

What is a synthesis of organic and synthetic? A husk
What is merging with reapers? Indoctrination.

Shepard as a Boss fight ouch.

This is... Interesting...

The history nerd in me hopes something is announced on the Ides of March, even if it's just another hint.

A Cyborg, actually.  And there are many.  Technically, if your Gramma has an artificial hip.... or a pacemaker...

But I think you're right in the broader sense of the final choice being of your own fate.  Some of the ID theory is a little too counter-intuitive to my mind, but that doesn't mean it's not what they were going for.  Still, if within one week of release, 40,000 people vote on a poll saying it left them jarred and disappointed, it may not have been pulled off as well as you could have done it.  A little communication would have avoided all of this, and instead left us anticipating eagerly, not - let's say, dreading hopefully :)

I doubt it. It comes out on the 15th for Japan and they keep stressing that players haven't all beat the game yet. You can't expect Japan to beat it the day it comes out.

Have you met asian gamers?

Kidding aside, I don't believe in the March 15, 1M1 theory.

Be very careful with "conspiracy theories". The human mind is profoundly susceptible to being led astray by "evidence" like this, especially when you're actively seeking an alternative to the most apparent evidence.

That said, nice find.

I would know because I'm asian? I'm also an English major (harhar symbolism reading interpretation wheee) and I'm inclined to trust this theory, but at the same time I have my reservations and must maintain perspective.

But I will say this: this theory gave me a lot of comfort after I beat the game feeling unsatisfied and upset.

hmm I was thinking what are the chances of a human colony being somewhere in the viper nebula? since the relay was destroyed its possible the reapers were unable to reach a colony if there is one

Yeah the tweets are getting odd:

"Just finished ME3. I didn't know my squadmates could teleport...strange, innit?@JessicaMerizan

Jessica Merizan: @TomMarcotte1 not teleporting - can't explain now though to keep my feed spoiler free :)"

You know, ff all the "hallucination" theories out there this teleport issu is what keeps my hope up that the ending isn't what it seems to be. I mean, your squadmates suddenly teleport to Normandy seems like to big of a misstake from Biowares side to not be intentional.

Quoting because this is important. We must maintain perspective. Think from all angles, not just from the one you want to be true.

So the new alliance news update explains why salarians were not helping en masse - a bloodline threatened an uprising if they left salarian space. I'm starting to think the guy some 100 pages past who wondered about the ANN catching up having significance may have been right.

Any thoughts on whether the place where the Normandy supposedly crashes has any similarities to Virmire?

@msitton,

excellent work. I wondered why they fixated on shepard holding his hand to his bleeding side, and even pulling the hand away and looking at the blood on it. the fact that it's gone moments later is interesting.

This leaves quite a bit of room for the possibility that no one ever left earth for the citadel.

But, boy does that leave even more questions. If shepard never makes it, who the hell blows up all the relays? Or at the very least what the hell is the red holocaust chasing the normandy through the relay?

Note that he does not take a breath until after the scene. Relays blowing up was part of the hallucination is the explanation.

Also, seeing all the other similarities to Babylon 5 that there have been, the space child reminds me of the Old One - maybe it did exist before the reapers, and in some extent has control of them, but needs to be persuaded that life has advanced to the stage of being worth salvation. Or perhaps just that Shep deserves saving/reaching his goal. I dunno, I'm just typing what comes to mind between rounds in MP.
