In case the theory is wrong and there will be not DLC changing the end, Hudson really achieved his goal of a game that is "being remembered".

I would always remember it as the most disappointing, ungrateful and shattering ending to a series of games I would have labeled to be masterpieces. The ONLY series of games I'd ever lable as a masterpiece. But with that ending..... playing through 3 games, doin every little side quest and thinking forever before making important decisions... for that? No way.

Well, there is still hope. The ending scene in the rubble and the countless twitter posts (some more, some less) still hint towards a different ending. With the end staying as it is, the rubble scene just makes no sense.

The running theory is that it is a 4chan troll attempt.... but who knows - free "real ending" DLC that was intended all along would make the most sense given that the only other reasonable possibility was that the last 10 minutes of script was outsourced to this guy:

Unfortunately no, already explained that it's a mail from time when Ash is in hospital.

Its not :).

1) Skipper ---> Ash would call Sheppard that only at the end of game (romance). Sheppar is commander for almost whole time. (1st skipper in me3 is during udina death)
As well its not pre me3 when he is grounded. Ash said that she didn't want vist him then.

2) Hang in there ---> It means she gives comfort to sheppard becouse something did happen to him. Also this is very much but reverse when Sheppard visit Ash in hospital when is is unconscious after attack on Mars

I guess sheppard is in hospital and uncounscious after encounter with reaper beam on earth. It all suits 3 endings very well : Destory - they find sheppard under rubble and get him to hospital (he resisted indoctrination), Control/Synthesis - sheppard body is in hospital but his mind is somewhere else - > struggle with indoctrination.

This was confirmed to be a message received at THE VERY START of the game when shepard is detained by the alliance; personally still doesn't make sense what with Ash's attitude to shepard at this point, but hey.

I just beat the game again and didn't get any new messages. I even deleted two pretty dumb messages just in case there wasn't room or something. I do have a message from Tali that says "Hang in there," but that's it. And it looks like it is from right after the Asari homeworld.

Tali also has some message about kicking a Turian diplomat in the gizzard. I have no idea what she's talking about, you recruit her long after you get nice and cozy with every Turian in existence.

Normally I don'y give credence to things sourced from 4chan, but apparently that is the very same user who leaked the Multiplayer DLC image in the first place.

Time will tell, but treat it with a grain of salt until then.

I have to agree, I don't normally listen to anything like this, but we can hope, and hope is sure as hell better than the crap we're stuck with now. That and the fact it could fit so beautifully with the indoctrination theory / hallucination.

Also the achievement logo / icon thing looks really good, and I can see that being legit. (though I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to make)

Hmm I might be wrong but the person who confirmed it said he started NG+. I dont know exactly how those msg work but isn't there some sort of delay ? Maybe it connected to beating game but sent when the person started new game ?.  Is there any confirmation that someone who started fresh game got it ? Or that some time passed between games?

No, because someone played as male shep then started a NG as femShep and got the mail from Kaiden

4channers hate "****s." LOL It probably is a troll, yeah. But if it is true, I must say... April or May? F that.

Wow, this board censored that word? That's not even profanity. Anyway the word there is a term 4channers use for BioWare fanboys.

Thinking about it, post ending DLC is possible after all the endings. The 'best' ending shows that Shepard lives, the other endings however do not actually show that Shepard is dead. The 'best' ending is just a teaser.

Your actual choice in the ending may vary what happens in a DLC. You realize that it was all in your head. If you made a poor choice it eats away at you. If you made the right choice you still doubt that you can even do the right thing now as you were so close to failure.

If you had low EMS then there were significant casulties. Rebuilding will be extremely difficult. If you had high EMS then things aren't so bleak.

The only problem I have with this story is that he/she states that downloaded a pack that unlocked everything. Read the little message that is below the picture.  Why doesn't he/she have a picture from within the game? When the person broke the story before the game came  out about the Normady being crashed on a planet at the end that person had a picture of it. Where is the picture?

A few hours ago an anonymous user who leaked the multiplayer DLC (just an hour earlier) has claimed that the ending fiasco was deliberate because of the game’s storyline being leaked. They changed it so they could have more time to prepare the real ending DLC.

It is called “The Truth”, and will be released in April or May… You will be able to continue your story if you picked any of the endings. Your decision during the sequence will have a big effect on the ending of The Truth. Also, The Truth adds two new sets of enemies, new classes, and multiplayer maps, including “Firebase Hive”, which is a small area of the last remaining Collector Ship included in the DLC, which, by the way, you should definitely bring Javik the Prothean along if you have them.

The following picture shows some of the leaked multiplayer classes and races. One race that isn’t shown is the Prothean Adept and Vanguard. This DLC also, enables the ability for owners of the preorder and From Ashes DLC to find their DLC weapons in reinforcement packs.

All of that content, and this might as well be labelled an expansion.

And it’s Free!

Posted Image If this is true then  I will go on my knees and beg Bioware's forgiveness! It will also make the ending the MOST awesome ending in game history. They fooled us all........................................If its true Posted Image

Can't wait till Mass Effect panel at Pax east. IF they haven't officially said anything before pax east. You better believe people will be questioning them in person and during that Q/A session.

I don't think they have a choice; they surely don't want to alienate their fanbase, people are already ditching their games = future DLC sales down the pan. Now all they have to do is at least hint this "Truth" DLC is legitimate, and everybody's happy. Pax sounds good to me. (I don't see what else they'd have to talk about at their panel)

EDIT: On the other hand, if you think about it; dragging this true ending out is keeping interest in what is still predominantly a singleplayer based experience, normally only achieved by replay-value alone.

There is another issue about the end and the "theory".

If you think about it ME2 have got the same identical engine (and grafhic engine) of the ME3.
So, same identical engine, same dimension (for xbox 2 full dvds).
But... if i recall it correctly.... ME2 have got 2 mission special for each squad member outside the first two (miranda and jacob) as in ME3 you got Ashley/Kaidan and Vega. The others have got two mission each, one for finding, one for thrust.
ME2 has a lot of cerberus mission too and mission you can take scanning some planet.
and ME2 have a long mission story.

ME3 is too short.
We're talking about 7 or 10 N7 mission right?
Plus some little mission if you've got some dlc before, like Kasumi or Zaeed. But nothing more... and so, you got a story mission who isn't really that long... so we're missing something o_0 a lot i'd say.

(As ya know i'm not English so try to understand me) :wizard:

That's true. BW wanted to create memorable ending that sticks with you.
But the problem is it's not memorable because it's amazing. It's controversy.

True. This is what made me believe in that they have an ace up their sleeves. I just don't get to wrap my head around the fact that Bioware might actually want to be remembered for controversy.

I think it's amazing and controversial.  Why can't it be both?

My opinion is that the ending as it stands now could not have had the desired impact if it was handled any differently.  I have felt very strongly that their intentions were to find a way to make us feel exactly the struggle that Shepard would be feeling.  To face down indoctrination, to make the choice like it was our own, to see that choice play out and actually feel the weight of your decision.

It sounds good on paper -- in fact, it sounds an awful lot like the "signifigance of player choice" mantra we always hear from BioWare with their games -- but has it ever really had this kind of impact?  Has it ever really made you feel?

That being my opinion, I was delighted to bump in to this little tidbit from Casey Hudson:

We end up exploring some spaces that maybe have never been done before. Because interactive storytelling is still kind of new, there are neat things to try. One of the things we’re trying in Mass Effect 3 is the idea that we can let you feel something that is part of that character’s experience versus strictly getting you to react to things that you see and experience. We’re trying to tell a little bit of the story Shepard would feel and seeing if the player feels that as well. You saw that on the Earth mission, and you see it throughout the game. It’s insight into how Shepard feels. I think that’s going to be one of the things people remember.

That came from here: http://www.gameinfor...PostPageIndex=2

Now, I mentioned above "the ending as it stands now".  He mentions in the quote that there are "neat things to try" because "interactive storytelling is still kind of new".  I really think a big part of that is having the ability to break the mold, and leave a cliffhanger (my word of choice here -- others clearly say "unsatisfying and riddled with plot holes") for a brief period.  Long enough, say, to get crazy amounts of attention and unite their raging fanbase against them.  Bold move.

And then -- via a free DLC, or time-locked content, or a 20 minute cinematic, or whatever means they've had planned all along -- give us the answer we're all waiting for with bated breath.

I love the indoctrination theory.  I fully support it, and it leaves me satisfied with the state of the ending for my Shepard's story.  I would be fine without any further explanation, or even any real confirmation.

However, I think what looks crazy to everyone now is going to end up setting a major precedent in storytelling.  I think they're breaking the mold, and I wouldn't be surprised in the least to have the rest of the ending opened up to us shortly.

TL;DR -- Without the turn that it took and the lack of traditional closure, it never could have had this impact.  It never would have made us feel.

I can't understand how any DLC that acts as a 'True ending' would work, practically speaking? I mean if the general consensus is that the 'Destroy the Reapers' ending is the good/proper ending, presumably any DLC would pick up from the point that you wake up in the rubble. As this only happens if you pick the 'Destroy' ending, how would they allow people who chose the other endings to play the DLC? They can't? They can, effectively ignoring the fact that, in the ending you chose, you were indoctrinated, and rendering the three choices pointless? Hell, as far as I'm aware you can only get the super-secret-ending-cutsceneTM if you re-play the game via NG+, does this mean that only those people will get to play the DLC?

Then there's the fact that the game dumps you back on-board the Normandy. How will the DLC activate once you've downloaded it? Click on 'Resume' and you get a message saying "Hey, wanna see how the game really ends lolololol?!?"?

Don't get me wrong, I have everything crossed for a DLC to finish the fight, but I'd be interested in people's thoughts as to how it will be implemented.
