This might have been mentioned before, but there are odd similarities
between the "semi-real" area Shepard wakes up in after Harbinger's blast ,
and the god-child's area. The first one is pretty obvious:

This
one is a bit odd, is it just crazy coincidence? Remember that the
god-child area is not symmetrical, on the opposite right side there are
no such shapes.

Definitely a nice catch.. I wouldn't be surprised if the two areas are in fact the same..

If the areas were in fact the same, then the Synthesis option would mean that Shepard jumps into the beam which will bring him up to the Citadel, interesting...

And rushing for "destruction" leads to charging at Harbringer... Hrm..

I think this is reading into it too much.  Shepard is unconscious.  The point of the similarities, I think, is that it's more proof that Shepard is conjuring the ghost-child dream based entirely on imagery he's familiar with.

That's what I thought, and if it's  also some sort of reality /constructed/reshaped and projected by Harbinger, the fact that he assumed the shape of a child (again, something from within Shep's head) seems to fit into it all quite well. Patterns and images taken directly from within the mind of the subject possibly enable more efficient manipulation. It would certainly add a new and interesting perspective on how indoctrination could look like from the inside, as absurd and obvious the fallacies of logic of indoctrinated subjects are to an external/unindoctrinated observer.

Has anyone brought up the god pistol?

TIM walks behind Anderson and steps out again with a pistol. TIM didn't bring it with him. Anderson didn't have it on him. Where did that gun come form?

I'm all for the indoctronation theory but out of all the pieces of evidence supporting it why exactly is the infinite ammo pistol even mentioned? there are alot of times in just about EVERY game with guns where there's a sequence where you have unlimited ammo and/or do more damage then usual. I personally think we should just throw out the god pistol as a piece of evidence as things like that are too tied into game mechanics not sudden plot twists

Thanks for bringing this up. It's a commonly used device.

On the other hand Dragon Age 2 used overpowered weapons for when varrik was making stuff up

never played DA2 are these sequences where you use OP weapons things that are pretty crucial to the story? the god weapons seem to come into play at times like that

Have you read the very first post?
It's one of the points we're raising for this theory. Crucial points.
Actually, very easily countered by two words: "mass" and "effect", respectively, one after another.
Mass effect fields CAN provide gravity and something akin to an atmosphere.

So I've just been reading the leaked script from back in November, and it turns out that Javik was originally meant to be the Catalyst. This makes sense, right? I mean the Crucible is a prothean design so it makes sense that they would need a prothean to activate it.

Clearly Bioware changed this after the leak happened, so in the space of 5 months the ending radically shifted.

My question is, how is it that after all of the countless meetings they will have hopefully had on the issue did they come to the conclusion that the best alternative they could come up with was, what can only be described as, The Ghost of Elroy Jetson?

Bioware owe it to themselves as much as us to do better than that. This theory gives them an excuse to use to do it.

the explanation for that one is that the gun is supposed to represents shepards willpower, which is reflected in the destroy ending as thats the only one where she/he uses willpower to resist, if this indoc theory is true

Very interesting stuff...

You guys are reading into it way way too much. Its not indicating what direction Shepard goes in the real world, it just simply puts together things he saw in front of the Conduit that manifest in similar structures on the Citadel.

Kind of how the shifting walls resembles the Shadow Broker's ship and how the control room resembles TIM's room, and also the room with all the dead people sort of resembles places in the Collector base.

Just things supporting dream/indoctrination. They aren't so literal like you are reading into.

yeah... I mean come on... a simple standard basic pistol is powerful enough to detonate a cosmic death switch that has been build countless eons ago... doesn't make any sense

Everyone, calm your ******. The "wheels" on the Citadel seem more for aesthetic purposes than anything. We don't want to be desperate fanatics (and we already seem like that). Question evidence and don't latch on to anything, please.

The save files have specific tags that specify what kind of ending you have achieved for importing and are labeled as the following (reported by Golferguy758)

Not Finished
Live to Fight Another Day

Sure, I know the plans for the Crucible passed down through various cycles but the plans were from the prothean archives, so who knows what changes they would have made to it from the version they had received from the cycle before theirs?

New theory.

Harbinger swoops in and starts firing at everything, as well as attempting to indoctrinate everything in sight. Only you and Anderson are able to resist (because you're both badasses).

The entire sequence after being hit by Harbinger's weapons fire, you are caught in an indoctrination dream with Anderson. TIM joins it using the powers he either learned from his experiments or from abilities given to him by the Reapers (a la Saren).

But in reality, you're really still fighting to walk into the beam up to the Citadel.

So, your choices:

Destroy the Reapers: You break from the indoctrination but you're still on Earth and Harbinger has been destroyed (you won the mind game, Harbinger dies because TIM died).

Synthesis: You fearlessly walked into the beam where you think you'll die but instead you awake on the Citadel.

Control: You wake up and Harbinger starts firing on the other Reapers, clearing the way for you into the beam, since you not only won the mind game but took over TIM's powers when you defeated him.

Seems reasonable, all paths would lead to another ending.

The Stargazer hints that the story isn't finished.

Also, Harbinger and the Reapers WANT Shepard to choose Synthesis.  They want Shepard to become the new Saren, since the resistance would lose hope and collapse immediately if that were to happen.

The similarities between the Synthesis beam and the Conduit/Catalyst beam might just be another way that Harbinger trying to subtly influence Shepard's decision.

Shepard was focused so hard on getting to the Conduit/Catalyst beam.  By making the Synthesis beam similar it's subconsciously telling Shepard that the Synthesis beam is the goal.

Might be a stretch, I don't know, but it's interesting.

In fact, the VI on Thessia tells us, that they only were making it from the blueprints they found.
But on the other hand, somewhere was said that the Crucible was slightly modified in course of cycles...
Gotta check, but I'm too sleepy today.
Can someone confirm the info about the Crucible?

It's up, Video where you can hear TIM whispering "Shepard" during dream sequence :)

Damn, that really sounds TIM, interesting.

I think people are misinterpreting these dreams. They are nightmares, and not a process of indocrination. Though the codex clearly says that it is, I don't see any signs of it being that. To me they are dreams that reflect on Shepard's mind. These shadows aren't some ghosty things, but shades of the past, the fallen, all that have given their lives, all that have suffered... the more you go into these dreams the more shades there are because the more people have died.

But unless they are there, soley to inflict as my phsycological damage as possible, then I would agree: it is indoctrination. Trying to weaken Shepard's resolve further and further until he finally cracks.
