Okay guys this is wild but think of it.

Imagine that whole scene near console is indeed truth, there was no TIM - thats indoctrination strikes Shepard right if front of Anderson. He never actually looks on TIM and only once he says "dont listen to HIM(harby?)" but thats about it. How about there are only two of them. Anderson says "They control you" "you are being indoctrinated" looking straight on Shepard/in camera. And Shepards shot does kill him.

Hmm...that's kind of an interesting take on it.  But, Shepard has a chance to talk down TIM, right?  Then, TIM shoots himself.

....Unless that's Shepard beating that initial attempt of Harby's indoctrination.  Then, you could say that the godchild was Harby's last major attempt.

Yet, the ending scene with Shepard in the rubble, taking a breath, would suggest that the Citadel scene didn't even happen in the first place.

TIM is a projection of Harbringer attempting brute-force indoctrination.  That's how I see it anyways.

And no, the Citadel didn't happen.  Not even space magic can handle that ****.

Earth? Why would pictures of un-destroyed earth be in ending assets? With the jungle planet even?

Agreed.  I like the theory, but the rubble scene seems to discount it.

So assuming all of this is true, just going with it and the fact that this would've had to have been planned out for a while, what does this say about the entire medium of videogames? I mean this'd be pretty darn revolutionary. Movies can leave you hanging but they can only tell one version of a story. This encompasses so many mediums; books, games, apps, etc., that if it were real it's just a master-stroke. That's assuming this is planned, but how often does the end of a movie or book prompt this much discussion? Even if it isn't true, people have grown so attached to a story that they're actually spending money to have it "fixed." The closest thing I can think of is the Harry Potter series. If it's true it's awe-inspiring, legendary even...

Or we're hoping really really hard =P

I am now leaning toward the last bit being either a dying vision/near death experience, which, if chosen correctly, has overcome death - for now. But I do see Shep being critically wounded, likely out of action. He united the people, and lead them there, but then some new protagonist takes the torch and finishes it. I think I could live with that, if they also worked in some closure for the rest of it.

This question isnt really related to the thread (other than the fact that this is my third playthrough, and really the only difference I've noticed in the things leading up to the ending), but are the color of the stars in the Liara romance goodbye scene determined by your paragon/renegade score? Cause they were red this time.

Were they?  They are normally white/blue if you're just close friends.

btw Shep doesn't seem to be indoctrinated until lying in the rubble as the Prothean VI doesn't recognize her/him as such.

Oh, I do too, no doubt.  But, I think the poster I originally quoting was asserting that the Anderson scene possibly happened, with only TIM being an illusion to Shepard.

While it would certainly be better then what we got, I still would like to see Shep be the one who finishes it.  Atleast I'd like to see him have a role at the end as oppossed to him lying on a bed badly injured while someone else finishes the fight.  It's like having a beat cop kill the joker while Batman's unconscious.

Dunno how tie up this with god-kid space magic though, Second attempt?

Hmm, that is pretty good.  Doesn't explain how Anderson got the beam after they stated that everyone was decimated.

If this is all indoctrination so we should not take things literally. Crew on planet - hope that his team is alive. Shepard taking a breath - him breaking Harbinger shackles.

Also, about the kid. Imagine that Harby could not just force Shepard to submit - so it should break him first. There are door out of this "indoctrination world" and harby could not just close it. So - he creates 2 false doors and tries to weaken shepard with image of kid who haunted him all that time. Maybe that kid image is just slow mind-bomb made to break shep defences to begin with.

Interesting - look like almost background textures....also remind me a little of the text epilogues we got at the end of DAO.

To be fair, Kai Leng was implanted. The indoctrination on him was very strong.

Shepard may have been in the process the whole time, but he was never being CONTROLLED until the end of the game.

I've been reading along with the theories, and while there are some great ones, I still couldn't get on the indoctrination/hallucination bandwagon BUT after I actually bothered to read my codex the indoctrination entry has me with one leg in said wagon now :P
