There's one thing here I haven't seen mentioned, and maybe I'm just reading too much into things, but think about the definition of the word "crucible." Other than something to melt metal in, a crucible is also a test or trial that is usually incredibly difficult.

Does anyone see where I'm going with this?

WOW. Evidence keeps on building

I so like this idea... but then I remember what Bioware did to Tali's face....
and think that after THAT... would they really put that effort in the ending as we are hoping for?

Look at the definition for Catalyst.

1.Chemistry. a substance that causes or accelerates a chemical reaction without itself being affected.
2.something that causes activity between two or more persons or forces without itself being affected.
3.a person or thing that precipitates an event or change: His imprisonment by the government served as the catalyst that helped transform social unrest into revolution.
4.a person whose talk, enthusiasm, or energy causes others to be more friendly, enthusiastic, or energetic.

The kid was only there to let your guard down!

I mean...to me, that's the design team, not the writing.

Honestly...yeah. As amazing as this *could* be, I urge people to brace themselves for disappointment if it isn't true. I think there's strong evidence for this, and I'm the most excited I've been in 2 weeks now, but try to stay reasonable about it in case it does turn out to be false hope.

That's actually a super handy decription of Shepard if s/he chooses Control. S/he becomes the new Catalyst.

Overall, though, Shepard has been the Catalyst for the galaxy. The shepherd that brought the races to the Crucible.

Ok i dont know if someone said this but heres my take:

Yes it is a indoctrinated dream via harbinger.

-During the TIM talk at the control panel you hear reapers roaring here and there and specifically when TIM FORCES your body or will to do something i.e. shoot Anderson.. Harbinger is using TIM as a avatar in the indoctrinated dream. using his roars to subvert you. -- explains the multiple voices as well.

- If you notice while walking up the ramp to get to the control panel on the left side it says 1M1..on the right it says 1M1 but its backwards- the 1's are completely mirrored and backwards. Logic: in this dream: whats RIGHT is skewed, its wrong, its not REAL. I.e. The right thing in your mind to do is represented as "WRONG" in this ending (dream) --- You get a renegade option (RED) to shoot TIM to save anderson?? really? im sorry thats paragon.. but see.. its indoctrination-- its making you think its WRONG to shoot TIM to save anderson.
-At the end the (control reapers) area is blue lit (correct me if im wrong) the middle is white light.. walking towards the light.. metaphorical your accepting fate--accepting the idea that Organics will become 1 with synthetics (isnt that what reapers are doing anyways?) -- the RIGHT side is painted red (renegade) Destroy synthetics... but its the RIGHT thing to do.. Mass effect 1 through 3 is all about DESTROYING the reapers... harbinger wants you to think its a wrong thing to do...

the "secret" ending: you wake up in a pile of concrete (its been said before) -- citadel obviously wasn't concrete -- you fought and broke your will against harbinger/reapers as in your dream you pick yourself up your standing two hands on your gun not even acting injured as you destroy the one thing that will bring about the downfall to the reapers (opposite of what they want.. so you broke their WILL against you)

Excellent point. Didn't really understand why it was called the Crucible, since it didn't seem very crucible-like.

I agree Shepard is the Catalyst more than anything. But it is strange how the VI seems to not care which one you pick. Making it seem like the VI is unaffected.

Excellent point.

In fact, the Marine Corps added a portion to their boot camp named the Crucible after I graduated in 1995.

Designed in 1996 to emphasize the importance of teamwork in overcoming adversity, the Crucible is a rigorous 54-hour field training exercise demanding the application of everything a recruit has learned until that point in recruit training, and includes a total of 48 miles of marching.

I know it's kinda off topic, but here's the wiki link if anyone's interested

You just literally made my spine crawl with awesome. I got goosebumps.

This is a PERFECT example of BioWare trying to engage in metagaming -- making the experience real. Trying to indoctrinate the player.

Dont see why nobody talk about the fact Shepard can live in space in the last scene, there is no glass around him when he reach the God Kid : the Crucible who is behind us is outside the Citadel.

"On the final day of the Crucible, recruits are awoken and begin their final march (including "The Reaper" a forced march up a steeply inclined hill to the top of Edson's Ridge on the west coast). "

I have a question. How did TIM control Anderson? His experiments for controlling the reapers only worked on those who were indoctrinated, either by the Reapers themselves or by Cerberus during their experiments. But Anderson was never indoctrinated. So while I could see TIM controlling Shepard if she was indoctrinated - that doesn't explain how he could possibly control Anderson. Did I miss something?

This has been brought up sporadically during the thread. It's one of the reasons why we believe (or hope) that the last part was a hallucination.
