I think/hope that the ending is a hallucination, and that the teaser in the "Best ending" of Shepard being alive is actually him/her WAKING UP from the dream. I think the Reaper laser blasted some stuff and it fell on Shepard and knocked him/her out, and due to the hit on the head he/she dreams the end sequence, then wakes up in reality, still in the battle on Earth.

I remember The Reaper... lol how could I forget that forced march!?!

Dont see why nobody talk about the fact Shepard can live in space in the last scene, there is no glass around him when he reach the God Kid : the Crucible who is behind us is outside the Citadel.

Pretty sure that was brought up already.

Eh, I always thought it was a shield or an energy field (like how they could survive on the derelict Reaper at the end of ME2)

You just literally made my spine crawl with awesome. I got goosebumps.

This is a PERFECT example of BioWare trying to engage in metagaming -- making the experience real. Trying to indoctrinate the player.

there you go lookingglass, this seems exactly what bioware is intending to do. giving us a false ending to give the impression that the reapers are indoctrinating the player. VERY effective on bioware's part if this is true.

There's one thing here I haven't seen mentioned, and maybe I'm just reading too much into things, but think about the definition of the word "crucible." Other than something to melt metal in, a crucible is also a test or trial that is usually incredibly difficult.

Does anyone see where I'm going with this?

Excellent point.

In fact, the Marine Corps added a portion to their boot camp named the Crucible after I graduated in 1995.

Designed in 1996 to emphasize the importance of teamwork in overcoming adversity, the Crucible is a rigorous 54-hour field training exercise demanding the application of everything a recruit has learned until that point in recruit training, and includes a total of 48 miles of marching.

I know it's kinda off topic, but here's the wiki link if anyone's interested

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Marine_Corps_Recruit_Training#The_Crucible

That was actually what triggered my thinking on the topic, as my sister-in-law was a Marine. :)

But really, the more and more I look at it, the more the hallucination/indoctrination theory is utterly plausible. If you look at all of the evidence without the framework, it makes no sense but once you put everything into the hallucination/indoctrination framework, it suddenly fits. I really wonder if this was unintentional; it seems too well-implemented thus far.

Holy crap, the Marine thing is crazy perfect since isn't The Alliance/Shep Marines? Wow.
A Marine's final test, representing the culmination of all of the skills and knowledge a Marine should possess... Sure as **** sounds like this.

Another little thing I just realized, if you look at the sky in the Shepard waking up video, it looks exactly like the grey sky that we see in the London mission.

So if this all happens in your head does that mean the weapon actually did fire and the relays were destroyed before the ending with Shep in a pile of rubble?

Add in the fact that Shepard IS a Marine, and I think you've struck gold. :D

Shepard's a Sailor, not a Marine!

Sorry, Navy vet here, haha.

Just searched up the meaing of Crucible.
1A vessel or melting pot, composed of some very refractory substance, as clay, graphite, platinum, and used for melting and calcining substances which require a strong degree of heat, as metals, ores, etc.
2. A test of the most decisive kind; a severe trial; as, the crucible of affliction.
3. A hollow place at the bottom of a furnace, to receive the melted metal.

Read the second definition of it.

It's the most badass direction that could exist. If BioWare seriously did that sh*t, they can have all of my money. All of it. It's so hardcore. To sacrifice all to allow the player to 'experience' indoctrination? Blows my mind apart.

Well they were inside the reaper as were the cerberus science team. No need for an energy field.

Yes, I'm totally kicking myself in the ass for not seeing it before, but as I stated before I went through boot camp in 1995, so it's been awhile since my personal IRL Reaper battle.

Even the 103 Marine codex entry states that it's roots go back to the US Marine Corps.

Don't get me wrong; I'd still be thoroughly pissed for them getting me all angry and depressed, but like I said, if they came out and backed this theory (again, even if it wasn't intended).....it'd blow my damn mind and I'd thank them for it, gladly paying for more DLC.

I think I have to leave this place before my hopes skyrockets to the moon. But, since I am powerless to do so, let me ask this question to all:

If, lets just say this theory is correct, when will Bioware give us the heads up and stop jerking us around. Like someone before said, I just want an answer. A yes or no. When do you think we'll get that, because I can't take much more.

The part where Anderson is being indoctrinated seems off. I don't think he should be able to talk. He shouldn't have any free will if his whole body is taken over. What if Anderson isn't even there? Neither is TIM. I find it hard to believe that Anderson was that unscathed after that big charge to the end and even before that the old mans gotta be tired. No one saw him go up. No one saw you go up. You don't even see him running with you do you?

You know, I'm not sure. But Shepard was the XO of the original Normandy, with Anderson as the CO. Executive Officers of ships are always Navy. In my head, N7 is like being a Navy SEAL, and Shepard later managed to become an XO and then a Spectre/CO.
