Hi all,
I've been trying to keep up with the rampant pace of this thread for the past few days, and I figured I'd contribute something I noticed when poking around in one of the PCC files earlier.

Whether this has been noticed before or not, it may not be damning evidence one way or another, but it at least provides something more to discuss. Which, let's face it, is all we can really do until whatever the embargo date Bioware has put up on any news has passed. ;)

(Edit: removed HTML code that didn't seem to work. Feel free to link directly if you feel inclined!)

OMG, I just checked the game, that environment map IS used. Its the floor. You can see the trees reflected if you look carefully enough. I'm trying to get a screenshot that shows it. Its really really subtle. Think i'm going to have to highlight the required 'bits'

Or to accept it.
To wonder, "how would my Shepard have ended this?" What is the purpose for everything I've done to this point?

At the moment, we're helping to co-write and finalize the Mass Effect trilogy's conclusion. This should be interesting.

Although I don't stop thinking about a game after I finished it (eg. Deus Ex: Human Revolution last year, Phoenix Wright games earlier this year), I eventually stopped. I haven't stopped yet for ME3.

Broham: I'lll believe it when I actually see it. Hope doesn't float with me. Cold, objective reality is what it takes to convince me.

That said, it is a fairly dangerous game to play, business survival-wise, to put out a game for early play, get a LOT of negative fan reaction online, and then expect a lot more people to read or hear of this negative reaction and expect them to actually buy the game or no cancel their order and expect there to be a "lot more people playing". I would predict that the number of players is now much less than perhaps expected because a lot of people, via word-of-mouth or via reading the online ****storm criticism, aren't going to buy it when they originally planned to. HUGE peak sale and pre-orders followed by precipitous drop in orders and sales. Not a viable business plan.

Not really, it was faked.  To quote the Turian Councilor (I love how even though we learned his name that is still what we call him), "We have dismissed that claim."

Honestly, if you're a die hard fan, you'll hope and play and hope until Bioware comes out with something definitive. Hell, i'm playing my second import already, because shi**y ending or no, the rest of the game is top notch!

About Shepard sacrifice , no matter if you cried or not, having Shepard to sacrifice is the PEAK of the moment for the game. You may argue about how bad/good other sacrifices are in ME 3 but there is no doubt that the most weight drops down to Shepard.

I knew he was going to die since ME1 but if this theory is correct and he's buried under rubble and not in fact blown up, then I wonder if he's going to die in the 'real ending' as well?

As i see , the whole point they are trying to make with destruction HIGH EMS ending is this, that Shepard survives and stuff suppose to continue after... Its like they try to please everyone in a wrong way.

Shepard is rebuilt out of purposes reaper tech. It's not a stretch to say that if he succumbs to harbinger that harbinger could directly control him. But at no point does shepard lose control of himself to harbinger because he doesn't succumb yet.

If the citadel scene is actually a mental battle it's only shepherds mind that loses control periodically.

Wholeheartedly agree.  I LOVED the ability to go through and speak one final time to every single surviving main character from 1, 2, and 3 just before the final fight.  Ash was great and it worked REALLY well with her as the LI.  I can also see how Liara would have been a great conversation as a LI (but I wont be exploring alternate LIs...no point).  Ash, Grunt, Tali, Liara, and Garrus were very good moments.  Wrex and Samara were disappointing in comparison (Wrex was fairly impersonal and flippant while Samara is maddeningly like talking to Vulcan - devoid of emotion or connection).  The final fights were difficult (insanity was actually insane in ME3 unlike the previous 2) and intense.  After that, well, this thread, twitter feeds, Facebook, Metacritic, etc are all the answer you need.

I agree about Wrex, being an ME1 character he should have had more at the end. But then again he had a good bit on Tuchanka so I'll let it slide. I think Liara's one would have been great if she was an LI. It was pretty sweet already without a relationship (whole head on shoulder thing). Grunt was at the end?  I don't remember seeing Samara either.

Garrus really made me tear up... the Paragon interrupt... :crying:

In my case it was Ashley's "don't go" moment ... :crying:
But yeah, most of those scenes were beautiful. And I felt as if Shepard was going to see the hangman this time ... so to speak.

And why do we think the Catalyst is the citadel? Are we not told by a prothean VI that was hacked by TIM before we talked to it?

Exactly! Plus, with the indoctrination theory in mind, I don't hate the ending nearly as much as I used to!  We should start a new campaignwith a new banner called "WAKE UP SHEPARD"

Shepard is a lot like saren. Saren lost himself to sovereign because he eventually agreed with sovereign and lost the mental batgtle against indoctrination. Same could easily happen to shepard

Never trust kids, you never know if anyone of them could be the Harbinger of your toyfication.
Now seriously, that is a good find. Also if Harby is the first reaper his species would be the one that created the Catalyst, so he could be probably control the space kid, right?

Oh that one too :crying: especially with her as LI. The sad thing is, they all know he's probably not coming back, seeing how most of them say the word 'goodbye' or 'farewell'.

In what "wrong way"?  I don't mind and ending (one of many) in which Shepard lives, gets his LI, etc.  Or that leaves it ambiguous but possible rather than ruling it out.  I don't mind an ending that suggests that one outcome has the galactic civilization continuing, though bruised and battered, but continuing nonetheless with no more Reaper threat henceforth.  I DON'T need an ending fed to me that catagorically and in all cases TELLS me Shepard is dead, the galactic civ is gone and cannot be revived (no mass relays) and that many races are flat-out doomed to extinction POST Reaper.  That can be ONE ending but it absolutely doesn't need to be the only ending in different forms.

Again, the Shepard story ending has nothing to do with his death.  It has to do with the fact that you cannot do any justice in future stories to a Shepard thread because he has already defeated THE biggest threat evah!  All other threats would be pathetic and weak in comparison.  Hence, Shepard's story CAN'T continue regardless.

Enjoyed the journey too much to let an ending get me down. But I'll stick to replaying my saves rather than a new character. I have no time to start from ME1 until ME3 again although that might keep me busy until BW announces a new DLC or something.

Surviving in the most cryptic way possible, although I hope that is what they are shooting for seeing how this theory makes it make sense.

This is the thing you use for the control ending. Look at those pillars between the electricity. Got a good look? Okay.

Since we already had a fake of a similar image, don't take my word for it. Go download UE Viewer, it's freeware, and check for yourselves.

I cannot wait to hear the theory opponents explain this.
