Hitokiri, your middle paragraph supports this theory. If the ending scene is actually a battle of wills between harbinger and shepard it explains what happens quite well. Choosing control means shepard thinks he can control the reapers to do what he wants. Get ryu's of them forever. (tim indoctrinated). If he agrees with synthesis he is going along with saren who is also indoctrinated. But if he decides on destroy he is sticking to his own belief and not compromising to deal with the reapers .

I think everything just seems a little TOO off kilter to everything that happened previously, I mean companies slip up occasionally and drop the ball, but to ignore or go against information and canon that you yourself established? No dice. This hallucination ending and the indoctrination connotations just fits in style and tone....just my two pence

Just going to leave this here. It seems this is where bioware will be discussing things for now. Go there, tell them what you liked, and then tell them (in a well thought out and nicely written way) what you didn't (the ending) liked

That said, it is a fairly dangerous game to play, business survival-wise, to put out a game for early play, get a LOT of negative fan reaction online, and then expect a lot more people to read or hear of this negative reaction and expect them to actually buy the game or no cancel their order and expect there to be a "lot more people playing". I would predict that the number of players is now much less than perhaps expected because a lot of people, via word-of-mouth or via reading the online ****storm criticism, aren't going to buy it when they originally planned to. HUGE peak sale and pre-orders followed by precipitous drop in orders and sales. Not a viable business plan.

I hear you. I'm a facts person myself. In the absence of fact I'm willing to accept theory and possibility; if only to quiet my mind somewhat so I won't linger on the missing reality. Eventually Bioware will come out and tell/show us what the deal is. Until then, we wait.

I do agree in the end that it likely isn't a sound business move however. The negatively is surely killing sales and the pre-owned stock is certainly surging. However, I'm sure they'll still make their money regardless. Chances are new games have access to the cerberus network and if there is an ending DLC they make it free. Pre-owned copies will need to purchase access (hence pay for the ending). So folks that rage-sold their copies after seeing the stock ending or wait to buy second-hand are going to be very pissed off and for good reason.

Then, if they do put out an ending DLC and it is successful, they'll start pushing out misc. DLC to a wildly pleased fanbase that will eat it up eagerly.

Sovereign like i've said was controlled by Sovereign just because he let him to be controlled, Saren thought  that he wasnt controled,that he actually had it under control but helped Sovereing just because he believed in it. Saren couldnt retain control after the transformation Sovereign did to his body, the final boss shows how Sovereign controlled his body DIRECTLY, before that it was more like a brainwash.

Remember in Mass Effect 1 Shiala says something a long the lines of "spent enough time around his ship (Sovereign) and you come to agree with his logic, his goals until you're all but a willing slave". Benezia also makes some remarks like that. Also remember on Virmire Rana Thenoptis was studying the effect of indoctrination because Saren was afraid of losing control and there were these indoctrinated STG members. So I think indoctrination as implied by this theory is possible.

There is a huge door for assumption which is left open.
For all we know that it could take time,some special praparation for Sovereign to control an organic, he could use brainwash like he did with Saren,then make him/her accept their logic and after that taking full controll . We do not know if Sovereign used Sarens oragnic influence in order to help them.

About Rana, all i remmember  is something about indoctrination and saying about Saren being paranoid about him being controled by Sovereign.

My whole point is that, they cannot direct control organics instatlly  and especially by FAR , they need some preparation for it. Shepard was soo close in  ME 1 with Sovereign than ever before, yet, he didnt even fuzzle or feel any sign of indoctrination.
If the reapers could control organics by just being close then this whole war would be pointless.They harvest organics and use them against each other in order to achieve what they want, the difference is that the altered organics can be dirrectly controled by reapers . Thats how protheans lost the war,not because they got controlled but because reapers used themselves as the weakness.

Do you honeslty believe that organics that created the REAPERS and created them to perserve the same ORGANICS against synthetics would give the abillity for reapers to control dirrectly the organics ?
yes there could an explanation that maybe reapers evolved their control over synthetics and somehow took a better  understanding of organics and found a way to controll them IF some preparations,acceptance is met.

That's the floorplan for the Citadel Council chambers area from Mass Effect 1.

Yes, it was an easter egg, but not sure how it applies here.

Maybe a hint to the fact the Citadel was made by the Reapers?

What if the Reapers were the first synthetics ever created, by a civilization that grew very advanced? They then became self-aware, realized they were superior to their creators, then overthrew them. They now kill off organics after a certain amount of time, because they fear that another race of self-aware synthetics will rise up to challenge them.

SO to hold their dominance, they wipe out all advanced organic life before they can advance far enough to create synthetics to challenge the reapers.
