I don't think Vega is going to be the new protagonist, I think he's going to be the bridge from the new storyline to the old one (Shepherd's).

Hi all,
I've been trying to keep up with the rampant pace of this thread for the past few days, and I figured I'd contribute something I noticed when poking around in one of the PCC files earlier.

http://i1265.photobu...n56/Oddity2.jpg

Whether this has been noticed before or not, it may not be damning evidence one way or another, but it at least provides something more to discuss. Which, let's face it, is all we can really do until whatever the embargo date Bioware has put up on any news has passed. ;)

(Edit: removed HTML code that didn't seem to work. Feel free to link directly if you feel inclined!)

went into mine and found the same thing no text though

So, there were trees there in an earlier version?
Can anyone confirm that?

I didn't follow you much until you brought up your last point. James Vega was an odd addition to the team at the beginning of the game. It would be acceptable if they planned to bring up a new protagonist, and it would make sense that James would be it.

I disagree.  Because Vega already has an established gender and appearance, both of which are almost universally options for PCs.

Also, if you're playing a female Shepherd it's a female's gasp at the end.

And the chest that takes the breath is decidedly more curved if you play a femshep than when you play a manshep.  (I mentioned this way back on page 7 of this thread.)

The more I read this thread the more excited I am at the possibility that is could actually be the real ending... if we're wrong and Bioware don't do anything about the endings then I'm gonna be gutted all over again lol.

If shepard was inside the citadel he woul die. That is a fact. Because 1. No air in space. Even if the spaceboy meeting was inside, the explotions would either kill shep or create a hole in the citadel. 2. If the citadel fell to earth. The impact would certainly kill shep. Because..come on! 3. Spaceboy says shep will die if destroy. Because of implants. soooooo...whos lying on the ground in london? IF it is shepard...indoc-theory is right. BUT why dont we see his face? That is one major question.....makes me wonder..could it be James Vega? Maybe bioware wants to continue the series around another protagonist?

No. The gasps are gender specific, voiced by (likely) Meer and Hale. James Vega wasn't part of N7 yet, and the "gasping body" has N7 dog tags and the same blasted armor pattern as Shepard.

It's funny when you think about it, but depending on how this goes, we all might be "waxing gud**** nostalgic" about this thread in a few weeks.

I dunno, I still think something is up. Bioware never made the ending so easy before. And they love to play hide and seek in their games.

Discrediting this image:

@BoydMcKenzie http://img829.images...8/dreamreal.jpg Wow were these similarities intentional?

@njfritz There are circles in both levels, and a beam that goes in to space that you later find in space? Sometimes a circle is just a circle

@BoydMcKenzie oh so its just a coincidence. Darn :\\ Ok. I don't know if you know about fans' "Indoctrination" theory on the ending.

Here's what's going to bug me.

If this theory turns out to be true and we get this new content that gives us the real ending, all the people who disproved this theory but made those huge petitions will say it was because of them, BioWare only did it because of the petitions. They never had it planned. It was all their idea.

Yeah, sure thing.

I like the implication of this theory. That what we experienced as an ending isn't the actual ending. That they didn't pull a literal Deus Ex Machina out of their ass and that we can forget all about the space-magic crucible blasts and reasons that run counter to what our game has shown us so far..
But I don't think that is how they intended it and if they do change they due to the backlash and a realization that they were wrong.

If this were true from the start that would be a terrible and bastard move from Bioware.
What is presented so far is more conjecture and the game doesn't really hint that maybe Shepard is being indoctrinated. If this were the intention than that should have been more obvious, people should have come out of it and immediately have doubts whether what happened on the Citadel was real or not.

And it also means that what we got wasn't a complete game. If there's a DLC that is supposed to be the real ending than we've been duped into paying for the ending.
Half-Life 2 was a complete game. It left many questions unanswered and in the Episodes they carried on from where HL 2 left off. But if the Episodes were never made, we'd know what happened until the G-Man considered your job done. The story doesn't take such a leap at the end that we start hoping for an "it was all a dream ending".

If that is the case, then why would anyone who wants a Fem-Shep or to play a female character continue on?

If there will be a single player DLC it actually HAS TO BE something like Shepards indoctrination - everything else would leave even greater plotholes

This is a perfect example. VALVe knew fans had a lot of questions so they amended HL2 with episodes. Then again, we're still waiting on number 3 >_>
