For me those sound in the destruction video are like error/warning sounds. Not breathing. I Might miss something.[/quote]
When he is shooting the tube I hear just error/warning sounds when the "bullet" hits the tube. When Shep is shooting other than the tube the voice is a litle bit different, but I think it's because of coding, since gun is not used other than killing the tube. Sound source is the tube because when you go closer and closer to the tube it gets stronger and stronger. If this was the sound you were talking about, I don't think it goes with your theory.

Are you trying to say the impact causes the echo? Because the sound will happen even if shep doesn't aim at the tube and isn't close to it, I've tried shooting into empty space and random directions with the gun.

Ah, you were talking about the echo when Shephard / child speaks? IMO it's just a design choise which adds some special to the final scene. "The room" where those guys are in might also be the reasoning for echo since it's a little bit space like, but still seems to contain air. The beam might also change the conditions of the space where they are in. In the end almost noneone knows what Crucible does / how Crucible does things.
