For me those sound in the destruction video are like error/warning sounds. Not breathing. I Might miss something.
When he is shooting the tube I hear just error/warning sounds when the "bullet" hits the tube. When Shep is shooting other than the tube the voice is a litle bit different, but I think it's because of coding, since gun is not used other than killing the tube. Sound source is the tube because when you go closer and closer to the tube it gets stronger and stronger. If this was the sound you were talking about, I don't think it goes with your theory.
Are you trying to say the impact causes the echo? Because the sound will happen even if shep doesn't aim at the tube and isn't close to it, I've tried shooting into empty space and random directions with the gun.

Ah, you were talking about the echo when Shephard / child speaks? IMO it's just a design choise which adds some special to the final scene. "The room" where those guys are in might also be the reasoning for echo since it's a little bit space like, but still seems to contain air. The beam might also change the conditions of the space where they are in. In the end almost noneone knows what Crucible does / how Crucible does things.

I think there's some kind of confusion between us.

The first bit of that video has Shepard firing shots, and immediately following each shot there's something that sounds like a gasp for air. I was trying to say that its possible to get the same reaction from the gun at any point after talking with the space kid, regardless of what the player fires at. A bizarrely similar sound is also possible to achieve by reloading. I'm not talking about the echoey sounding bit when the tube is just about to explode, its most audible in the first ten seconds of the video.

Taken straight from the final conversation with the Star Brat:

"But you're taking away our future. Without a future, we have no hope."
It's like Shepard is speaking for the fans, directly to Bioware.
And Bioware responds with:
"You have hope. More than you think."

And what comes to Catalyst's voice: It might be done same way as the mission in "Geth brain". It's mixed from things that are familiar to you. Catalyst seems to be VI which is supposed to be used for commanding Reapers. It might not have "build in" voice to communicate with organics.

All I hear is sound of a gun and an error/warning sound when the bullet hits. I think it sounds similar just because the way it's coded. The gun was used to shoot the tube and the tube makes the noice even if you don't hit it. This would require my specific testing to see if it's the case, but I think it is.

I can see your line of thinking then. What about the sound when shepard reloads though?(Note that shepard shooting off into thin air or reloading aren't in any of the videos i've posted, that was something I tested this morning)

There is defietly heavy breathing in there and anyone else find it peculiar how Shepard seems to recover more and more from his/her supposed "wounds" the more he/she shoots. After the first few shots his/her walk steadies and aim is true as if regaining control of his/her body.

Dont know if anything similar happens in the other endings, just a thought.

in synthesis about half way to the beam he drops his gun and starts running, having a similar recovery.

Yeah, Shepard straightens up and increases his/her stride on the other two endings as well.

Edit: Nevermind, in control he/she is still gibbled right through grabbing the bars.

Yeah synthesis always bugged me. Control is clearly TIM's choice, destroy Anderson's, and I've heard the argument that synthesis is Saren's. But it doesn't seem quite like what Saren wanted to do either. The most out of the blue choice of the lot.

Okay, dident really bother watching the other endings I must admit. Knew something was wrong and choose destruction based upon all I knew from the previus games. Control seemed impossible after all we had been through, all we knew and Synthesis...well I actually considered that, but remembering Legion talking about the Geth carving their own path and the realization i was essentially choosing for the entire galaxy If I choose Synthesis made me stop.

Funny how a virtual character influenced my choice in such a way...but also a testament to the games.

Statement: Alcohol does NOT make the endings any better.
Will continue to hold the line in St Patricks name. And on that note, merry St Patricks day everyone!
But yeah, Synthesis is imho Shepards consciousness moved into a Reaper body made just for him, a ShepReaper because apparently Harbinger has a crush for our commander.

Could be explained as the reaper's goal is merging organic and synthetic life (creating a new reaper), Synthesis is exactly that.
So if Shep is indoctrinated the reapers maybe make him run into the beam while in destroy he "breaks free" from it.
It's a long shot but anyways.

The fact that you can fire the gun within the getting up animation, before Shephard grabs it is weird as well but I guess that's just a bug.

Just think back to the visions from the beacons. Flesh merging with machine. Synthesis is creating a new Reaper or at least well...leading to it.

You need at least as many as Tali had before it counts...or as many as Shepard has been offered for when this is over :D

Correct, I had not enough to use an emergency induction port. Neither did i had triple filtered turian brandy.
Altho right now....dear Harbinger I'd kill/harvest a species just to get a bottle of that. I bet it packs one helluva punch.
Jokes aside, Control we can say ended with Shep becoming a husk or Harbingers brand new CPU, Destroy means a horrible hangover in London but...how exactly would Synthesis end?
Did Shepard turn into a Reaper? Did he merge with Harbinger himself?
