The part about them removing tons of used games from the market still stands though. I like to think it was Bioware/EA's cunning plan to vastly increase the number of new copy sales over used copy sales.
That is just evil. If they pull it off, I can see other companies or EA doing that for their future games. Imagine Assassin's Creed 3 without a closure ending (although I stopped playing halfway through Brotherhood, need to go finish that) and then Ubisoft asking for payment later on. Ugh.

I was about to burst into tears at Ashley and Garrus's 'goodbye' dialogue. Then I heard the 'Leaving Earth' theme at the end of the credits. After that I heard the cut Anderson dialogue about Shepard being a good dad.

I'm wavering on whether or not that strategy is evil in this particular case, because I think the indoctrination angle is actually the most brilliant plot twist I've ever seen. Ever. Its not really possible to do for most of the gamers(who try to optimize their endings) unless Bioware pulls a move like this. It just so happens that it'll also grossly manipulate the markets in their favor. And the sad/slightly funny thing about it, is that regardless of the necessity of such a manevuer to deliver a more impactful ending(as in the case of indoc theory) the market manipulation part works under pretty much any circumstance. Gamers will hold onto their copies in the future in case this happens again, decreasing # of used copies, and people who usually only want to wait a week or 2 for a $10+ discount will go ahead and buy it new since it might mean a wait of a month or more.

Theory - I wonder if Shep has subtle hints of Indoctrination not enough to take control just enough to present the whisperings in Sheps head, however it's being held back by Sheps will which is slowly being eroded in Mass Effect 3 (Mordin, Thane/Kirrahe, Legion deaths) Loss on Thessia, then the final erosion "Am I really just a VI of myself" so when Harby's laser knocks him unconscious he becomes much easier prey to indoctrination.Raze4573 wrote...
I wonder if it was Shep being slowly indoctrinated at that moment or perhaps all the prothean data in his brain etc made him somehow predict the future in a way.AHEM Prince of Persia: Epilogue. Nuff said.
Sidenotes: 1) When have the Reapers ever actual called themselves reapers their arrogance demands they present themselves almost as gods... 2) What's Harby's real name we know Soveriegn is Nazara... 3) When did Harby get the name Harbringer as I remember nobody ever actually calls it that so did Shep just give it that name.... 4) Isn't it funny that you get a VI of yourself in ME2 then in ME3 Shep thinks he may just be a VI.(forgive the spelling I'm on a smartphone)

Not really too bothered yet. I have this amazing thread and the people here to thank. Then there is the fact that Broken Steel happened and money grubbing video game companies won't pass up the chance to milk us.

That said, I find myself increasingly disillusioned with Bioware's lack of response and careful deflection of the questions. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense from a business standpoint to have 89% of your fans say that they hated the ending to your game, and then never address their concerns. I just have to shake my head at that.

Just finished up a new playthrough. During the Anderson/Shepard/Illusive Man confrontation, I decided to go Renegade as opposed to Paragon. I wanted the pleasure of taking TIM's life. Usually I just stick to choosing the red dialogue for TIM's very last line so I can shoot him, but this time I did it for each response. The first red dialogue has Shepard asking TIM something along the lines of, "If you can control the Reapers, why are you bothering with us?" (Not word for word. I didn't pay full attention to the line.)
What stuck out to me, and what I made sure to remember, was TIM's response to this question, which, after reading this theory and wishing it to be true, set off an alarm in my head. He responds, "Because I need you to believe."
Why on Earth would that be his response? Villainous gloating, maybe? The Reapers gloating through him? Or, as the theory would state, is he the voice of indoctrination saying that Shepard needs to believe that the Reapers don't need to be destroyed.
Just felt I'd throw that one in.

I thought that to, but viper nebula doesn't connect to an adjacent relay like it shows in the ending scene.

If the Alpha Relay was still there it would have connected to every other Relay in the galaxy. That was what was special about it, and why we couldnt let the Reapers get it.
The fact that the Relay isnt there, yet it is clearly where the chain reaction starts makes absolutely no sense.

Maybe the possibility that the Reapers trying to control Shepard through TIM (since when?) had a hard time to achieve it...DenmaDev wrote...

Harbingers name could be on the datapad Shepard got from Joker at the end of ME2.
