Let's all have a moment of silence for Marauder Shields when we hit 700 pages.

The art book claims they wanted the last boss to be someone familiar.

Marauder Shields is the last boss.

Who is he?

I say he is the Turian Councilor. The Reapers had to have captured the Council when they stole the Citadel.

Maybe a distant cousin of Saren. You know, the kind of embarassing relative who never does anything right. But then, his moment had come. Finally, he would kill the great Commander Shepard and earn fame and appreciation.

Sigh.

But we dont know Saren's family, so that wouldnt be someone familiar.

Also, I win page 700!

Everyone.

I have been watching this thread for a few days now though my own suspecions are older than that and I am amazed of what i am seeing.

Even as what seems to be a sea of hate boils around us this thread stands among them, people from all around coming together and using information gathered from across the Mass Effect series are weaving a clear picture, a picture of what the ending most likely is.

If Bioware predicted something along these lines would happen, it has without doubt grown beyond their expectations. It is unlike anything I have ever seen from a videogame before, a passion and desire for the best of the series, as well as wish and belief that there is something deeper, it is beatiful.

The way i see it, the Ending has become our Reaper that we must slay and the Theory is our Crucible. We are not sure if it will work or what will happen, but it is our only hope.

And I say right now that I am proud to be part of all of this and I will hold the line alongside each of you until the end, whatever it might be.

Just wanted to get that out.

Ive played through the endings a couple times now.  And the last time I made sure my Galactic readiness was maxxed out so Id get the N7 breath cutscene at the end.   And THAT SCENE totally changes everything!   It makes the Indoctrination/Hallucination theory the only plausible explanation.   Bioware is too damn good at story telling to not be going that route.
The whole thing after Harbinger blasts you is a battle for the freedom of Shepards mind.   Its simply amazing story telling! All the images of the Normandy and your friends escaping is just Shepards last thoughts and hopes.  I will be absolutely shocked if Bioware isnt sitting back watching ALL OF US fighting our personal Indoc battle right now!.
All of the uproar over what people see as a terrible ending is playing right into what they hoped for.  Getting us even more emotionally invested in the game and the ME universe.  When the DLC hits and the reveal is made we are all gonna be on cloud nine.
Brilliant simply brilliant.

Or this is the end and we will remain forever let down....  lol.  But I cant see that happening.  The clues and the lore and all the games leading up to the end just dont make sense in any other context.  Bioware planted the seeds already.  We got our "BItter" ending.  The "Sweet" part has to be just around the corner. :)

So, looking at the clues etc wrt the indoc theory, I keep finding myself certain that Bioware planned this, and has essentially the Indoc ending cued up and ready to go.

What I can't understand is the way they are handling the reaction to the ending. I'd think that when the amazon rating started to plummet, and the disparity at metacritic got noticed, when reviews ( from reputable people who had actually played to conclusion ) started going south ... I'd expect something from BW. Something to act as a huge hint, at least. Something like their ME3 web page going black, with a countdown time showing.

that would be awesome.

Damn right. It'd be a stunning piece of subversive, fourth-wall-breaking genius, the likes of which has never been achieved before. Hell, I'd be surprised if your average game writer had ever even considered such an audacious manoeuvre.

Thing is, the ending simply doesn't make sense without the Indoctrination Theory. With the Indoc Theory, however, it makes complete and perfect sense. As it stands, it's one of the worst endings ever. If Indoc proves true, then it's without doubt the best.

There's simply too many clues in the Codex and subtle hints throughout the games for the Theory (hell yeah I capitalised it) not to be true...

...right?

Here's an idea on how to get a response.
Twitter Gamble this:
The fans of ME3 are giving you three choices. If you choose not to respond, we conclude that the endings stand. If you respond ambiguously, we conclude Indoctrination Theory is correct. If you throw yourself in a giant beam of energy, the line will fuse with organic life.
