So, a rookie community manager jumps the gun and says that the endings won't be changed, and Jessica M. hops in to clarify that he / she is "missinformed", both on BSN and Twitter. I don't think we need more confirmation on the matter. Even if they haven't planned it originally, they'll do SOMETHING.

There was actually another community manager who posted a link to this thread and said "These guys described the ending better than I ever could" (or something along those lines)

I'm now following this thread for some days and will give you a opinion from a german ME player =). I only can say that I really love what all you guys are doing. It really helped me to bare that horrible ending.
The whole game was really, really good.. ecxept of the last 10-15 minutes.. that ruined all. I never got that emoionaly involved in a game series like in the ME. I got really attachted to my male Shep and a lot of the characters like Garrus, Ash or Tali.
I wanted to cry cause of the endings... and couldn't believe that this should be the end of such a great series.

The indoctrinating theorie seems pretty well fitting. Hopfully BW is really up to more cause a lot of people seem to be really dissappointed about the endings.

To be honest I really would have liked at least one good ending with a more happy Shep and LI.. and I really was like "What ?" when I saw the endings (I chose destroy) and saw Joker, Ash (not even worring or sad about the loss of Shep.. ) and Javik (Why the hell Javik ?!?) coming out of the Normandy. The only "good" about my ending was Shep breathing at the end.

I hope BW is up to somthing...

Listening to Europe - Final Countdown (just seems fitting) and going over whats new in this thread and I will only say what I have said before, keep it up. We are on to something, I am certain of it (and even if we are not bioware would be foolish to ignore us when this can then save their asses)

Anyway, Salarian STG team from Denmark here. Managed to get some sleep hidden in a basement and currently moving out. Seems like the Reaper forces lost track of us and we intend to keep it that way until we are ready. We will hold the line.

Codex Entry on Indoctrination: "Reaper 'indoctrination' is an insidious means of corruptiong organic minds, 'reprogramming' the brain through physical and psychological conditioning using electromagnetic fields, infrasonic and ultrasonic noise, and other subliminal methods.

The Reaper's resulting control over the limbic system leaves the victim highly susceptible to its suggestions.

Organics undergoing indoctrination may complain of headaches and buzzing or ringing in their ears. As time passes, they have feelings of 'being watched' and hallucinations of 'ghostly' presences. Ultimately, the Reaper gains the ability to use the victim's body to amplify its signals, manifesting as "alien" voices in the mind.

Indoctrination can create perfect deep cover agents. A Reaper's "suggestions" can manipulate victims into betraying friends, trusting enemies, or viewing the Reaper itself with superstitous awe. Should a Reaper subvert a well-placed political or military leader, the resulting chaos can bring down nations.

Long-term physical effects of the manipulation are unsustainable. Higher mental functioning decays, ultimately leaving the victim a gibbering animal. Rapid indoctrination is possible, but causes this decay in days or weeks. Slow, patient indoctrination allows the thrall to last for months or years."

Personally, this is enough of a hint to make me think shepard was indoctrinated at the end of the game. We see every one of the symptoms of ID in the ending cutscene. Shepard sees and hears ghostly voices, gets what appears to be a serious headache(When TIM is controlling him), he betrays friends (Shoots anderson), Trust enemies (Control ending is considered paragon and it shows TIM), and the biggie, views the reapers with superstitious Awe (God-child).

Based off everything that's been said on twitter and facebook, I think it's safe to say we will get a new ending. I doubt they had an original plan to give us one but if they stay true to "listening to feedback" we will get one. It might be a long time before we do but I think odds are that EVENTUALLY we will get one. I hope anyway

This is a small little detail I noticed.

I'm starting to believe some of this indoctrinated theory stuff. The catalyst being the little boy makes no sense at all, unless Shepard was screwed up in the head in some way. I see a lot of people saying he is not real, but when you are on earth during the first mission, right before you climb down the ladder to the building you first meet the kid in you can see him running into the building. I saw this while taking on some husk. Would Shepard be hallucinating that in the middle of battle? I don't know if that's a big deal or not but it is something.

Also, if you think of the conversation with the boy, you ask him to come with you, and he says there is no saving him. Is that a sign. You have 3 options in the end, 2 of them involve the reapers surviving in some form, but the other is total destruction.

It's simply the most elegant way to say "we screwed up"

I've made this not long ago, but FTL threads are FTL. If someone wants to write an ending and manages to piece it with the story, kudos.

I think the whole thing with the kid is wired.. and like allready said, the kid never interacts with other persons.
And I don't know why... but wired acting kids in movies or games allways creep the hell out of me.

I'm reposting one of my earlier observations, because I'd like some opinions on it and feel as though it got buried twenty pages back.

GriffinXP wrote...

Has anyone seen the advertisement for the Sanctuary that is in the Presidium Commons? When you exit the elevator, if you head all the way down the hall to your immediate right, you can see a large holo-screen at the very end that boldly displays the word: 'Sanctuary'. The strange thing about it, though, is that the background of the advertisement is very disconcerting - on the whole, it's mostly consists of this weird shimmering dark-red color, but there are also these faint, black tendril-like wisps that move vertically across the screen.

If Cereberus is trying to attract people to the Sanctuary by passing it off as a safe haven, a place of peace and security, then why is their advertisement so unsettling?

Surely something more serene would prove to be a more appealing scene, wouldn't it? I mean, if I was a frightened refugee fleeing from the Reapers, the image of a peaceful place - a quiet colony nestled within a beautiful expanse of rolling, green hills, isolated from the war and free from strife - would probably have me buying tickets for the next shuttle out. However, the one they use is downright scary and unlikely to attract the attention of displaced colonists.

So, I offer this theory: perhaps the advertisement has been built with some kind of reaper technology, a low-level indoctrination device, if you will. To me, the effects on the holo-panel look very reminiscent of those used in Shepard's dreams and the final TIM confrontation (especially those tendrils).

Now, going on what I've read here about indoctrination, I'm pretty sure that the process can make people see and hear different things, so perhaps when the average man looks at the screen, he sees the paradise of his dreams.
This would imply that Shepard, who assumingly sees the same thing that the player does, can see through this illusion.

Perhaps this is more evidence of Shepard's resistance to indoctrination?

Or maybe my argument is hideously flawed - in which case, hopefully someone will set me straight. I am completely open to being wrong.

Comments?

If/when I can force myself to start a new game, I'm definitely going to check this out. It doesn't ring any bells, but with all the crap that's gone on since I last laid eyes on it, well, I'm not surprised I don't remember.

Also checked youtube but didn't see anything remotely similar.. unless it's buried in one of those Walkthrough vids. Meh.

Wow, nice work picking this up! I'll have to check out the citadel again to see this, but if the black tendrils are in the ad, then it's definitely something that supports the indoctrination theory. Why else would shepard have black tenticles around his vision if he wasn't being indoctrinated?

That being said, listening to the song Superman by Five for Fighting always makes me think of Shepard, more so after ME3.

Havent seen that, but remember that not chnaging the current ending does not mean they cant add to it. They could easily keep the ending in its current form, but expand it to encompass among other things this theory and suitable closure.
