wouldn't the reapers eventually rebel against the GodChild?
if it takes about one cycle (approx 50,000 years) for synthetics to rebel against their creator, wouldn't the reapers have rebelled against the GodChild a long time ago? They've been doing this for millions of years.

I think you are seeing your last squadmates in the end because they have just found you in that very moment of reality and they are trying to wake you up.RorickHuon wrote...
I Guess you can say that Shepard didn't wake up right away after choosing destroy was because his mind had to process the regaining of hope in order to finally break out of the control of Harbinger. Seeing his close sqaudmates (especially the ones he takes with him say "I wouldn't want anyone else by my side.") alive on this new planet means life can arise and start anew. Thus breaking him out of the "dream". That my input to this theory-edit-
also - notice similiarities with Mass Effect and Frederick Pohl's Gateway stories - not only were creators of mass effect inspired by this book, but they were inspired by the game of the same name also which has very similiar dream sequence in the end.

My friends the only Ending is the OLD MAN telling US children to BUY DLC if we want to play more Adventures of THE Shepard, from before he/she died selecting his/her favorite Color Choice.
THE END
The only Hallucination is the acid trip Bioware developers had when they wrote this ending.

You have every right to disgree with us, just bring some evidence to the table besides "because i said so"

As I'm sure it has been said on here before, Bioware has already stated that the "Final hours" segment is not necessarially related to the cannon of ME
as for the second thread, most of it appears to agree with us here that the ending was odd. We are just trying to devise a theory that brings clarity using basic logic. I fail to see why that is such a bad thing.
I actually give Props to you guys for coming up with an intelligent explanation for this mess.
The only problem I have is that you should start giving YOURSELF credit for it instead then BW
They really aren't that clever...and in the end what was in the ME3 box was the FINAL product
DLC is never ment to give a game you paid for an ending....that goes with the final product, so what you are describing would be an unprecedented unethical scam perpertated by BW/EA against i their costumers.
Any theories are fun and interesting but common sense says otherwise.

I obviously still need to sort out my thoughts, but if you don’t mind me saying a few first impressions – first impressions from before I knew the IT details. In other words, my thoughts as I was playing for the first time. I apologise I will repeat stuff that has been said x times but I just feel like posting my opinion.
- No way the child in the vent was real or at least “normal”
Related: do you also see a burnt spot in the vent when you look back in? has it been noted as significant that the husks seem to be attacking and breaking in the building the child was in?
- The whole “ending” – everything that is shown after Shepard is knocked out by the beam - is so weird and has such a dreamy feel that again I didn’t, not even for one second, think it was supposed to be taken literally and seriously as a “real” ending with plot holes
- The scene with Joker+EDI and potentially squadmates stepping out of Normandy seems about as real and “normal” as the kid in the vents. The way they descend so peacefully and gracefully with that serene smile on their face, the paradise feel – totally inappropriate for the situation – Shepard potentially dead, billions dead, half of galaxy destroyed. My immediate thought was that the scene might not be real.
I simply don’t believe that all this is a result of poor writing, I don’t believe that Bioware left plot holes in their ending, I don’t believe it was a failed attempt at artistry – I believe we haven’t been told/shown everything. I’m not gonna speculate on why would Bioware play this highly complicated game with us, it does feel suspicious I have to admit!
I’m not angry, I don’t feel betrayed, I can’t even say if I like or dislike the ending (while completely loving the game in general) until (if?) I have more info – but damn yes I would definitely welcome some answers (and a closure and more time to say goodbye to the story, exactly).
Indoctrination theory makes sense to me, and many thanks for a great read. I won’t cling to it as a “solution”, I’m still in the processing phase. That's why I don't have any challenge or counter arguments, sorry.

Can't say I honestly care who gets credit for coming up with the idea, so long as Bioware does something to address the current awful endings.

I can't really say I care anymore.....a few FMV giving closure to what happened on the various planets and to the various characters would have been nicer.
But truth to be told the game without SEVERAL different endings has no Replay value...so unless they add MAJOR content.... it's gone for me regardless.

Guys, girls, anyone! It just hit me! I found it! The real inspiration!
It's a kind of magic,
It's a kind of magic,
A kind of magic,
One dream, one soul, one prize,
One goal, one golden
glance of what should be,
It's a kind of magic,
One shaft of light that shows the way,
No mortal man can win this day,
This is obviously about the dream of a galaxy without Reapers; the "one soul" is Shepard who must pay the "one prize" (sacrifice himself or... ahem... yeah...). The “golden glance” and “one shaft of light” refer to the endings we got.
It's a mind of magic,
The bell that rings inside your mind,
Its challenging the doors of time,
It's a kind of magic,
The waiting seems eternity,
The day will dawn of sanity,
"The bell" is
the sound that the reapers make. "Challenging the doors of time" --> How long can Shepard fight on against the Reaper in his head? "The waiting seems eternity" --> Another line describing the struggle to fight on against them. "The day will dawn of sanity" --> When Shepard awakens under the rubble in London.
It's a kind of magic,
There can be only one,
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be gone,
This flame that burns inside of me,
I'm hearing secret harmonies
The “only one” refers
again to Shepard, he is the only on that can unite the forces of the
galaxy. “This rage that lasts a thousand years will soon be gone” → The Reaper will finally be destroyed. (Either this or it refers to us fans; and that the true endings are on their way!)
It's a kind of magic,
The bell that rings inside your mind,
Is challenging the doors of time,
It's a kind of magic,
It's a kind of magic,
This rage that lasts a thousand years,
Will soon be will soon be,
Will soon be gone,
This is a kind of magic,
Tere can only be one,
This life that lasts a
thousand years,
Will soon be gone,
Magic - it's a kind of magic,
It's a kind of magic,
Magic, magic, magic,
magic,
It's a kind of magic.
It's a kind of magic.

"Just followed your example, Shepard. Yell loud enough, and someone will eventually come over to see what all the fuss is about" - exactly what's been happening around this controversy.
"That's the thing about getting old, Shepard. The platitudes get just as old." - Bioware's responses/platitudes are getting old.
"Pretty soon, blind hope is all we'll have left...and I hate being blind." - self explanatory
"I had to admit that parts of it sounded crazy. Meeting Vigil? Talking to Sovereign on Virmire? But my father just listened. It's what he did in his days at C-Sec, putting together all the pieces. If the connections were there, he wouldn't deny them. And he saw what we always knew--the Reapers were coming." - Exactly what we're doing essentially.
"Now I'm sure somebody screwed up something down here. I want to get the old girl back in fighting shape." - how many are seeing Bioware and the ending(s).

Just as a way to prove/disprove the existence of the child in the intro, has anybody tried creating a map, with Shepard's steps as a means of scale to figure out the placement of the building with a garden on top against the building with the kid in the vent? I made out a rough sketch based on my memory on my recent 2nd playthrough, but still, it feels odd and weird considering that those two buildings don't share the same roof layout/configurations.
Just tossing this out there as a possibility...since I find it a bit too cliche to use a kid as a guilt trap for my Shepard who has other things to worry about than a child dying, when in fact, millions more are dying.

That status actually says that they ARE concidering changes to the ending, they are refuting a previous post that said they would not.
