I think its also a point to note the placement/location of the choices. In my first playthrough, I was trying so hard to absorb all the details of everything that was happening so quickly, that when I finally got control back from all the dialog, the only path appeared to be forward into the big beam of light. The path that ultimately the reapers want you to take the most. It seemed like the only decision before me at the time and I willingly jumped into the beam of light half expecting to make my choice there.

Those little "side" steps silently slide in from the side leading to the destroy and control endings.

Well i just saw IGN's video claiming that Bioware are seriously listening to fan complaints and feedback and they really should since ME3 still needs closure. As for me i will still be holding the line!

Another theory from a dude who can't post here with us due to some EA issue with his account. (:

Another proof that it can't be the end.

We haven't gotten to say "in your face!" to the turian with his funny "air quote" about the reapers..

I demand a dlc for that!

Well, I just read the OP of this thread.
I know that this guy who made this app had a lot of contact with BW prior to release. So if these quotes are accurate, it really sounds more like BW really meant what they did. Unfortunately.

Well, I actually agree with that assessment. I also agree that a final boss fight is not needed. I though that was about the only good ting about the ending. I saw the reaper-TIM concepts in the art book. They definitely did well in cutting that and replacing it with the dialogue.

If we push them enough, we can make them give us a new and better ending, or just add to the ending that we have, it has been done before

Yeah we sure don't need something that is too video gamey in a video game.

Mac Walters on the Star Child/Reapers
"Originally, with the catalyst, the star child at the end of the game, I had written that much more in the guise of a investigative style conversation, where there is something he tells you but then, you get to ask a bunch of questions and you get your questions answered. But then me and Casey talked and decided, lets keep the conversation "High level". Give you the details that you need to know, but don't get into the stuff that you don't need to know. Like "How long have they been reaping?" You don't need to know the answers to the mass effect universe. So we intentionally left those out"

And isn't this also something that alot of you guys here are complaining about? that we could not ask the "starchild" alot of question and such.

Hm, I personally think asking question like "How long were ya reapin'?" wouldn't have made a difference at all. The whole premise is flawed without the indoctrination theory.
And I do agree with monrapias' earlier post, maybe if we push hard enough, we can achieve something.
Hold the line!

Well that is not the questions I were thinking about.

But usually you get to "investigate" or whatever to get a better understanding of what someone is talking about.

and alot of people seem to be missing that in the segment of the starchild.

but yes, hold the line I guess.

I have to say, you guys in this thread are ridiculously active. All this "holding the line" stuff, though is a touch misplaced. If you want to make sure Bioware does something about the ending, there is a much more battle-tested method of applying pressure. Someone ought to make a petition pledging not to buy any DLC for Mass Effect 3 until the ending of the game gets fixed. Of course, people would have to actually hold to that when the first DLC came around. Then they'd have a visual representation of how many people were dissatisfied AND it would hurt them economically. It's the classic boycott.

EDIT: This may be what Retak Mass Effect is doing, I didn't check haha

Has anyone noticed that whatever pistol you actually have equipped in the end, it always ends up with being the Carnifex? I was wielding the arc pistol in the run to the beam, so it seems a bit odd to me that I would suddenly have the (un-upgraded) Carnifex Hand-cannon.

Space magic perhaps? :wizard:

Thanks for putting that up.  Maverick messaged me apparently a while back, but I wasn't on here much and the message was buried pretty quick.

@Kyp: Well, that is the plan anyway, isn't it?

@estebanus, IIRC Shep picks up the pistol when s/he "wakes up". No way to know if it is supposed to be Shep's own or some other one flung in front of him/her. I could be misremembering though.

Oay, so I know it's been mentioned, but can someone attempt to give m a clue as to what the whole 1m1 thing is supposed to mean? I know that on the Normandy 8m8 is on every door, and Liara's equipment, but 1m1?

Everything mentioned, including the script, pertains to the actual gameplay mechanics and sequences in the game.  What is going on with that ending in not explained in there.

BioWare has also told us that Final Hours doesn't deal with the lore/story.

Man, the deja vu is strong with this thread :?

I do understand it's hard to keep up, but relying on the OP that took things out of context from the feature, and not bothering to check up on any follow ups to it, is a bit irresponsible.  No offense intended.

EDIT: Oh something else, I just listened to the cut Anderson dialogue (beautiful piece of writing and VO btw). If the indoctrination theory would turn out to have been the plan all along and Anderson just represents some part of Shep's mind, it would make perfect sense to cut the whole part about settling down and keep it as abstract as possible. If the ending is the real ending, it is a damn shame they cut that.

Also remember: Anderson HAS or HAD a family. But in the scene he said he never had time.
