The misconception seems to be that some of us dislike the ending because it's controversial, this is not true.

I dislike the ending because it's full of plotholes & the writing for the ending comes across as really poor/lazy.

A part of me wonders if this might just be a big PR-stunt and that there will be a DLC released giving us the real ending, but it seems based on the quotes from BioWare this is not the case. And this makes me angry/sad, to think that BioWare can mess up their writing so bad at the end. I mean, what happend? The rest of the game was 10/10.

Exactly, 3 games worth of solid writing and it comes apart dramatically in just 20 minutes? That is the biggest hole here, the biggest indication something is wrong.

Bioware has only stated they would not change the ending (though even taht seems up to debate now) not that would not add to it. And really, if Bioware are smart enough to pull the fake ending thing on us, they are smart enough to keep the secret until the bomb is ready, so to speak.

That is at least what i hope and I will hold the line until it is confirmed or denied from highest level.

Is there anyone left that still believes theyre just waiting for more people to finish the game (genuine question btw, havent checked news the past few days) or you're all just trying to create a story framework for possible dlc? And what happened to those dlc leaks with mp classes?

I've lost hope for this theory. I think its been long enough. If there was any truth to this they would have announced it.

The game has dropped in price by about 20% since release, compare that with Skyrim which came out in November.
ME3 = £31.70 (March 2012)
Skyrim = £37.97 (November 2011)

I put this down to the huge ****storm the ending has created, would Bioware really lose money just for this stunt? or better put...

Would EA let them?

The EA part is something I have been wondering about as well. They seem to be suprisingly calm considering the ****storm on Bioware which leads me to beleive not everything has been revealed, that EA still trusts Bioware to handle the situation on their own.

Very good point. Given how much we all know EA love their profits, you'd think that given how much money BioWare (and therefore EA) stand to lose in potential sales and possible refunds, they'd have some sort of clear and distinct plan in place by now.

All common sense tells me that the Indoc Theory can't possibly be true. No developer has ever pulled off a stunt like this, so why would they start now? I just can't shake the feeling (or the overwhelming evidence) that we're about to witness something groundbreaking.

While I agreed with you when I first heard it, ("this is crazy, no way this is real") I'm of the opinion now that the Indoc theory is not only the only thing that makes sense, and it's what BioWare intended all along. Every plot hole in the game, everything that seemed out of place, all fits into & supports the indoctrination theory. The ending makes perfect sense when you think of it as all taking place inside Shep's mind. Nobody has ever done this before, and while this may not be the best venue, I'm thinking that BW doesn't care - they're doing it anyway.

Also, every response by the PR team seems to be: "Thanks for playing, glad you liked the rest of it, hold on to your save" or "we've got more planned, so don't freak the f out yet" or something along those lines. Why would they say that if they didn't have an ace up their sleeve?

"Casey Hudson, following ending backlash, said he and the development
team now "recognise that some of our most passionate fans needed more
closure, more answers and more time to say goodbye to their stories".
"Your
feedback has always mattered," he stressed. "Mass Effect is a
collaboration between developers and players, and we continue to listen."

Is the quote that has me worried that we are sadly mistaken.

Okay, so I've been recently reexamining this theory and one thing someone said was about the trees.

Posted Image

I only have the Restart Mission save, so I saw them there, but I don't feel like going back all the way. Are there seriously no tree before the beam hits? I don't remember any, but it's been a while.

There are no plants of any kind, there are a few gameplay vids on here you can watch if you don't want to do the whole mission again

There are trees off to the left (and I think right) when you're running to the beam. They seemed outside (or on the edge) the playing area.

Just to clarify - I absolutely DO believe in the Indoc Theory, it's the only way the ending makes sense, and moreover it turns one of the worst endings in history into one of the absolute best. It's just the boring "voice of realism" inside me that's making me worried. There's no precedent for such a risky marketing manoeuvre, and for good reason.

...But there's a first time for everything, right? =]

I'll post my proof when I get home but I believe mass effect is actually a prequel.... To halo!
Teaser evidence to support this theory. John shepard. John' is the name of master chief. 1m1 is actually 113. Aka master chief's number.

BioWare May Still Change Mass Effect 3's Ending

BioWare has provided a new statement about the ending of Mass Effect 3, noting that it is considering fan feedback and has not yet made a decision about altering it.

Following comments from director Casey Hudson last week, the official Mass Effect Facebook page has now posted the following statement:
"We are aware that there are concerns about a recent post from this account regarding the ending of the game. In this post it was stated that at this time we do not have plans to change the ending.

We would like to clarify that we are actively and seriously taking all player feedback into consideration and have ruled nothing out. At this time we are still collecting and considering your feedback and have not made a decision regarding requests to change the ending.

Your feedback and opinions are of the utmost importance to us. We apologize for any confusion this has caused. Our top priority regarding this discussion is to keep communication with you, our loyal fans, open and productive."

Previously, the game's ending has been so controversial that fans have joined together to form a massive petition asking BioWare to change it. For a full rundown of all the uproar surrounding the ending, be sure to see our Mass Effect 3 ending controversy wiki.

Hold off on the best ending in history card.  There will still be the issue of follow-up DLC, which then leads into the issue of BioWare having to absolutely deliver there, or no dice and the world burns.

The Master Chief is 117.  And "John" is basically the most generic English name you can have.

What? I actually like the Halo games. I think they would be better with some storyline though. Bioware + Halo = my heaven.

Ending of the game choices.

Green: the color I turned as I puked at the ending choices.

Red: the color I turned when I realized this is how they ended the game.

Blue: the color BioWare people will turn because we're all wanting to collectively choke a mucka muck.

(Just my interpretation of the color endings... and it's a joke. Seriously, indoctrination theory is the only way the ending makes sense)

So going through the end sequence again looking around at everything, I noticed this:

A light floating in midair, and theres an identical one on the opposite side. Not sure if its just sloppy work or what.
