Perhaps Bioware wanted us to imagine our own ending.

I seriously doubt the that he was on the citadel at all, thats just taking the theory and making it stupid.

There's reasons to believe this theory, there's a lot of evidence for it... but I can't put my faith in it until we have some official statement about the endings, reactions to them, etc. I hope the ending sequence was just a dream or hallucination or something, and certain things definately point to that, but it could also just be Shep nearly dead. Can't say anything until BW does, I think.

So as to free us from our passive constraints of the viewer and an active participant in brilliant storytelling.

joker wouldn't do that, hell, the entire crew wouldnt do that. they'd die trying to save/find me. but what did we get? thwem running away in a mass relay? not buying it for 1 second.

I think by that point, even a direct order from Shepard to leave him would be ignored.  I can imagine the following:

"Commander?" [Joker's voice over the radio]

"Joker?"

"EDI has boarded the Citadel. She's bringing you home."

"There's no way..."

"Commander, I placed a tracer on your body...[EDI's voice]

"You what?!"

"Combined with the Reaper technology that is integral to my mainframe, I'm currently extrapolating a route to your location."

"Joker, EDI, get the hell away from the Citadel and that's an order."

[Bad rendition of someone creating the sound of static, like when someone is trying to get off the phone]

"Sorry Commander, I couldn't hear you.  The connection is dropping.  [mock static again] Closing channel."

Scene fades to white, then fades back hazy as the scene shows EDI finding Shepard along with random surviving teammates, who take him to safety. [Insert happier ending here]

While the dream theory makes a lot of sense... Intentionally releasing a game without a proper ending, or even worse, selling the ending separately as a DLC? Even for EA that seems like too much. The only way this could possibly be considered as acceptable is if the hypothetical DLC was free, and we know that won't happen.

I know we've beaten the odds before, but getting there... I don't know, gang.

Yesterday
I dismissed it prematurely, thinking someone is desperately attempting
to rationalize the situation. Today I actually gave it a thought and now
I see eye to eye with you. I mean, yeah. It does make perfect sense.
Shepard breathing without armor during final conversation, falling from
the orbit to survive and so on undoubtedly feel off. Waking up, not
losing mind. Heck, regardless of what lies ahead of us I am glad we've
reached such plausible conclusion.

It would be marvellous if the
miracle would happen next week. Issue I've here is how anti-climax and
emotionally manipulative that whole thing would be. And what's then?
Another hour or two of struggling? What about music and voice actors? Is
this some kind of conspiracy?

"Seriously, if you people knew all
the stuff we are planning...you'd, we'll - hold onto your copy of me3
forever" – now, in the context of our theory... Gives me hope.

Anyway, I still believe we can win this, one way or another.

Remember the Cerberus network?

Far too many silly people to think up any story.

if any of this is true, and i believe 100% now that it is, then they have already done all the voice recording/acting. everything is ready to go. we just have to dl / buy it.

Yeah, that quote makes a lot more sense when we believe this theory. I'm trying not to keep my hopes up too high, but if this is true... (Insert a gif of this guy in Matrix hoping for Neo to be "the one" http://4.bp.blogspot...20/DSC03121.JPG).

Cheers

Mine as well, but I can't make myself play the game anymore. Earlier today I played the Multiplayer thingie because I want get the Effective Military Strength or whatever to 5000 because I need the "Lost"-esque ending where Shep takes a breath... just to give myself some hope ;)

But once I reach it, knowing I'll have to go through the final battle again and die... it's just... too much...

Chances are we won't see anything for at least a month. They'd want much more people to play and finish the game before dropping it on us.

I don't know about that. It seems a little unseemly to release something and be like hey if you want a real ending pay an extra ten bucks for something we could've put in for your preordered release or your 150 dollar collectors edition. Thanks for the money suckas. If there was already a planned additional endings expansion it was something decided because of the deadline, so they provided what they thought was achievable so that down the road in a few months after the release they could release a polished expansion.

As long as they release it, I don't mind. I prefer to live in Limbo a month or so, than being told the patient is dead ,)

I don't think they necessarily want you to buy it. Remember the DLCs with ME2 that needed the Cerberus Network. If you withhold the real ending to only those who bought the game new (prevents used copies and piracy) it's entirely plausible and been done before. It's still reaching, but it does make business sense...

I don't know why they can't just release some kind of statement, ANY statement. I get that they're trying to do this strategically (if they are even doing anything about it), but 1 little post by a developer that says: "We know what's going on, give us some time" or "Sorry, but this is the ending. Here is some more clarification." or some crap. SOMETHING.

People saying that Joker running away like that is out of character, are right BUT. In many's opinion Thane and Jacob (maybe more) were also thrown out of character so that the same would happen to Joker wouldn't surprise me at all. -.-
