At least I think I can confirm that control is a bad choice. Also note that it is Choice_BadA where Synthesis would be the bad choice B (I hope).

Another thing.
Just before entering the beam.
There's Coats, he seems alive but ignores Shep

Where is he? Or do you mean over the radio?

vid,

around 8:30
the man before the cover from which the Marauder comes out

I think he is too busy dying if that is indeed Coats

Coats was talking over the radio, the chances of him being the soldier shown in that video are very small.

Didn't saw many wearing that armour during the game and I went close when I played and he did really resemble Coats a lot.
And even if he wasn't Coats, I would never die like that in front of Shep anyway :P
And Coats should be quite important storywise since he was even in the first trailer.
Like London should mean something.

Last thing, why no Reaper ships fire towards the Crucible and the Citadel even if we saw ships firing lasers in the background?

I think this could match some of the rubble Shep lies in in the _alive scene:
http://imgur.com/bVeLv
That would support the theory that Shep is on Citadel or at least has parts of it around him.

(Just posting what I find and playin' devils advocate here, I hope for arguments to counter that)

except the shep_alive scene i think is pre rendered. that would explain why there is regular n7 armor instead of whatever you were wearing. can anyone confirm this that is digging around?

well the armor does look battle damaged, easier to just use the basic armor set than try to account for all the different armors and pieces you can have on.

Especially in a prerendered scene.

The 3 minute explanation video is full of win.

The question is, when can we truly finish ME3's story? Lmao, guess we'll just have to wait for DLC.

Can anyone please load an instance of mass effect with a save before the ending scenes and try to walk back towards the trees after Harby hits you with the beam and you enter the inner mind? Also try to walk back when the child makes you choose or at any other time in that scene.

Though I don't think things are real in the Citadel.
Beamshot > Sheppard enters a coma > fights an indoctrination that is present from who knows how long...didn't play ME1 but it could even go that far.

1.) Why don't you ;-P
2.) I already tried walking back towards the trees and you get an invisible wall.

Can't check the kid one though.

not to rain on this theory but something i realized, if this theory is true wouldnt that mean we were given an incomplete game since the DLC would in turn complete the game?

jeez. the idiots have invaded the indoctrination theory. The theory's sound fo'sho but... the last soldier is coats? numerology? And the persistent misapprehension that the choice at the end matters. We're rewarded for the least indoctrinated choice with a glimpse of shep breathing. There's no telling what happens next, and that those who chose control or synthesis can't carry on playing. My money's firmly on DLC not clarifying this, not unless Bioware panick. We'll get more clues, that's all.

Walking away from the conduit after recovering from Harbinger's beam gave me Critical Mission Failure.
Shepard dropped dead for no apparent reason.

ME3 ended in a dream sequence. This would infer that the final few mins of ME3 is not the end of ME3 and that they are going to expand on the shi**y final few mins with some DLC.

@ Jillers

I would gladly, but I am currently looking through a bunch of game data files for assets with names that might support the IT. (Found a couple in the BioA_End001_920Beam.pcc, which is the scene when you get hit by the beam, I guess. They are 2D textures named DreamTree01_DiffDreamTree01_Diff and DreamTree01_NormDreamTree01_Diff) :) I am also downloading the Unreal Development Kit Beta to try and crack some of the suckers open.

Considering its the finale of the trilogy, I would expect it to be the longest of all 3 games

considering it has the amount of dialogue of the last two combined (or more can't remember actual figure) even with all those cutscenes and auto dialogue it doesn't seem like the game as it is has the amount of the previous two ME games combined...
That in itself seemed odd...

Find the proof so we can end this whole matter , it's like trying to prove the reapers are real to the council.

Hi all, this is my first post here due to the fact I have been having issues trying to be able to post in this forum until now. I've been following (lurking) this forum since the first week of mass effect 3's release and after my immediate reaction to the fact the ending can not be what it seems. I had a lot to add to this theory but due to the problems I have been having with posting on this forum the info I wanted to add has either been already discussed or disproved.
I do not want to ramble on, so I just wanted to say how great all you people are doing something like this, collaborating thoughts and being an active community. I forgot who said it but I heard the ending was supposed to be controversial and make people talk, something like that, and you guys are doing just that, that is what I find amazing, unlike most people I find who are taking it as Bioware are just bad at games and were lazy at the ending. Which honestly, I can not believe since they made Mass effect 1 and 2 wonderfully, as well as 3. I know this has nothing to do with the actual purpose of the forum but I just wanted to say how awesome you guys are for doing this, because I myself can not see Bioware making a bad ending to the best game franchise(my opinion).

Yes and No. Technically they'll have not sold you an incomplete game if the DLC is free (in deliberate scenario) because ME3+DLC still = ME3 and paid for by you paying for the game. It sucks but they'll have broken no rules in the current DLC and constant patch world we live in now.

Also if it's deliberate the point is they need you to commit to the decision at the end, what's the point in having you make the choice realise it was wrong and reload a previous save. The impact of the IT is to make you commit.

If they then release the final part of the game to everyone via updates on xbox live, PSN and PC patch - that's not DLC so even that isn't a problem anymore because it's a free update.

This is all hypothetical of course but just pointing out 'technically' ME3+future updates & free DLC still = ME3
so they also won't have broken any promises about getting various endings and closure etc if it's in the real endings.

Does it suck for a minority of people who don't have internet connection etc, yes but for so many PC games you have to connect to the internet to at least register the game anyway (and stay connected for quite a few too) so it's not that much different to normal.

For xbox live you can receive the update for xbox live silver so don't have to pay microsoft to receive the rest of the game and i'm not sure about PSN but i'm guessing that as it's free anyway that won't matter, PC patch = free so noone would have to pay if they deliberately witheld the final ending either for the impact i've already said but also to perfect it prior to release.

I know not everyone has internet and for a SP game it would suck but it's possible that this scenario just never crossed their minds (it happens) or they have a solution for those who don't maybe.

Point i'm making is if deliberately going with IT or any hallucination theory it can all have been covered in their costs already meaning they wouldn't have to have charged the gamer for 'a complete ending', witholding the ending was for impact and perfecting the final part while the world realises they've been tricked and left wanting to know what happens (like the cliffhanger at the end of an episode on tv waiting for the next one).

Hello! My first post here, and maybe it has been said (I didn´t read all of the 861 pages :P ) but, has anyone noticed that the breath of Shepard at the end of the game is the same, or very similar, to the breath he exhales when he wakes up afer the dreams he has with the kid?
