I am praying this is a huge DLC stunt. I want so badly for it to be a dream, but if the entire section after we get hit by sovereign is a dream, is this going to anger a lot of people?

I'm going to go load the autosave from the citadel and play around with some choices and look for more clues... I shall return.

Haha i love how people want to feed the idea, i started reading that thread at the beginning and it made perfect sense to me.My lil brother is actuallly playing me1 right now and i think i will pay some attention to his talking with sovereign/saren to see if they say some stuff that would make those endings make no sense.

Oh my god, don't!  TELL YOUR LITTLE BROTHER TO STOP NOW.  Don't break his heart, too! haha

I already told him where to stop in the game lol :)

Bought my brother ME1 & 2 for this past christmas...he's on ME2 now......honestly, right now, I think its worth it to play the game.  The ending is gutwrenching in how unfulfilling it is, but the rest of ME3....is just too damn good.  Too many good moments -  the series as a whole is still worth it, and I'll keep the spark of hope alive that the ending isn't the real end, but even if it is, and it truly is that horrible....still worth it IMO.

So I keep hearing about this NG+ secret ending. What if that's what unlocks the *real* ending? Or worse, the servers flag that someone has completed an NG+ ending in order for a game update to trigger, and give us all the *real* ending?

I completely agree. Every single step (in ME3) leading up to the conclusion was SO well done. I'm not ashamed to admit that I teared up at a few points and laughed out loud during others. It's at these points that the whole "choose your destiny" thing worked fantastically. But, oh wow, what a major way to drop the ball on those last ten minutes!

Guarentee someone has done this already.  From what I understand, this "secret ending" is actually the Stargazer scene, and is also triggered by loading data from ME2 rather than being NG+ exclusive.  Thats just what I've heard.

But as to whether NG+ has been beaten? Yeah.  Someone would have done it by now.

From what I've heard, the "secret ending" is the scene of the grandpa and kid after the credits.  It's not really much of an improvement.  I doubt there's an ending people haven't yet found due to several claims that the game has been data mined and the endings we know about are the only ones there.

Or, Bioware could be giving the European gamers a chance to feel the same despair we feel right now before letting us all enjoy the real ending. (Fellow gamers, please don't deny me this hope!)

This is true, they have ripped the game apart looking for hope, only to find none.

The greatest video games I ever played, I laugh and cried, I felt a real sense of urgency... and now I can never play again.

Unless it was a dream and we get some DLC. Then I will be in love again.

I wondered about this also.

I have a feeling they'll respond in a similar way. There's not really a defining factor that would make the vast majority of American gamers dislike the ending so much that the Europeans also wouldn't see. I think on the "twitter response thread," I made a similar comment about how "Oh god, please don't ruin the patch Europeans!" and more than a few responded about how they hated the ending and how foreign gaming sites were also showing similar reactions.

i hope so, but it better be free DLC because if i have to pay for the real ending when the ending i just payed $60 for was so crap i won't be happy. in fact the crap ending i can put up with but if that comes out as payed dlc i will loose faith in bioware completely.

Normandy Sick Bay, Shepard stirs Chakwas and Anderson rush over.

Shepard: W-What happened?
Anderson: We won. The cruicble went off without a hitch, all due to you commander.
Shepard No, I did something...I think I died.
Chakwas: You were out cold Commander, fortunately Anderson got you out of there fast.
Shepard: But back on the citadel, I talked to a child I saw murdered on earth, he seemed...godly.
Anderson: Commander you shot The Illusive Man, and passed out shortly after, I don't know what else to tell you. I radioed Joker and got the both of us the hell out of there. Sounds to me like a hallucination of some sort. Doctor, what do you think?
Chakwas: Most likely the case, you gave us a real scare there Shepard, but we did it. We won, now about that Brandy you promised me?
Anderson: That'll have to wait Karin, Shepard's the hero of the galaxy he's got celebrations to attend, people to see. Everybody wants to see the person who finally beat the Reapers.

HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO MAKE THIS BIOWARE?

No, when I read Harry Potter ages ago by the seventh book I was reading everything in an english accent. Which I stillc catch myself doing from time to time.

Spoilers are allowed, so warning. Funny to say though, since this is about the ending. Anyway, I believe if you have enough war assets, it shows Sheppard's N7 armor chest plate and him taking in breath, indicating that he/she is still alive. It's hard to tell where he is though but it also looks like the Citadel was outright destroyed. So it is entirely possible. The whole sequence after the credits is also irrelevant since all they talk about is stories. I see this was brought up partly before.

Being a DLC stunt or not there is an obvious backing and fury behind this so it is possible something will come out of it. In my own opinion, I will be surprised if this isn't capitalized on. Then again, Bioware is part of EA, so no matter how much they want do something, it has to be through EA. Again, this is only what I think, and I have no idea how video game companies actually work.

In any case, I'm not going to let one ending ruin a great series and developer for me. I'm new to the franchise but now I wish I got into it sooner. My time and money have both been well spent. My only hope is that there are more stories and adventures out there to lose myself in.

I was looking forward to that Brandy >.>. And making little blue children. Chilling with Garrus some more. Seeing what the Geth are up. Chilling with Anderson since I hadn't really seen him since the start of the game. Having a party in Purgatory.

I won't go on though >.> <.<

And seing Talis new house, and Wrex returning to Tuchanka and everyone else (ME2 Squadmates) reporting on shepard, and Shepard dancing horribly some more, and, and, and...
God, how could the ruined and otherwise fantastic game like this :crying:

After watching the Harbinger scene again, it does seem with the sound tone that everything is either disorientating or it might be an illusion. Also, Shepard doesn't even have a health bar anymore. He must be dead or in some sort of dream/hallucination. It looks like time slowed down for a bit there. Voices were echoing, which hints at he's either disoriented or seeing things that aren't actually happening.

Wake up in the rubble after Harbinger's blast, one of your squadmates yelling 'Shepard!' Yes please.

After closely listening to the ambient music aboard the Crucible, it does sound like someone with 50 whispering voices in their head. In other words, it might be a hallucination.

Have a listen. Very closely.

If you go to the squad menu, it shows he has ### of ### health. Of course, that still might not disprove your theory, just thought I'd point that out.

I'm doing my insanity run, started getting depressed thinking this hallucination theory might not be true, then the female korgan gave me her chisel, and told me to keep it as a reminder that even in your darkest hour, there is always a way out.

I refuse to believe we are forced into these current endings!

Okay, so I just played the ending 2 more times so I could have them as a basis to compare to my original ending. I'll break down all the notes I took as best I can

1. I believe the Starchild is either Harbinger, Sovereign, or it's own Reaper entity, Catalyst. Regardless, no question about it, the child is a reaper/ the reaper consciousness.
     - Why I think it's Sovereign;  We know from Mass Effect 1 that originally The Citadel was supposed to be used BY the Reapers to bring them all back from Dark Space.  Sovereign connects itself to that same antenna arm of The Citadel that the Crucible connects to and is waiting for Saren to use the same control panel to send the signal to let the Reapers through. If Sovereign managed to transfer it's AI consciousness into The Citadel before being destroyed in ME1, it could explain it's consciousness as the starchild, being there.
     - Why I think the child is a reaper; throughout your conversation with the star child, it constantly references itself as 'We' when talking about the reapers. There are multiple lines of dialoge to support this:
  • "We know you want to destroy us"
  • "You can control us"
  • "He could never have controlled us, because we already controlled him"
However, it does go on to say a line about how 'The Crucible changed Me', interesting when you think about EDI's revelations about Legion referring to himself as I instead of We earlier in the game.
     - Behind the child's voice, you can hear a much deeper resonating voice like when we spoke to Sovereign on Virmire.
     - When Shepard says the line about organics deserving freedom, she follows with 'otherwise we'd be machines just like you.'

2. When Shep thinks she's on The Citadel, she's really dreaming/ her consciousness is inside Harbinger.
      - Anderson points out that the area of 'The Citadel' that they're in reminds him of how Shep described the            collector base.  All the bodies on the floor are human, no other species. He asks if Shep thinks they're 'building a reaper', but if it's all left from bodies previously consumed by Harbinger it makes sense.
      - Shep says that she doesn't recognize this as any part of The Citadel she's ever been to, however, the area where the control panel is should be about exactly where we fought Saren in ME1, the council chambers. That's where that control panel is, because it's the same one Saren was trying to use in ME1; Shepard should be able to recognize it.
      - When you first arrive on The Citadel in the scary room with all the corpses and keepers, you have your gun. You can shoot at the keepers and nothing will happen. This is established to be something we -know- is untrue. During the endgame approach of ME1, during the cutscene, Saren shoots and kills a keeper in the council chambers on the way to the control panel.
      - Being inside of Harbinger could be why 'Anderson' and Shepard's consciousness feel the immediate indoctrination during the scene with TIM
      - There are 'reaper tech' looking things on your approach to the control panel. Giant bundles of cable hanging from the ceiling, large purple lights, the lightning going over the walls like it does on the outside of the reaper shells.
      - Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but if it IS The Citadel, didn't we learn that itself was reaper tech in the first game? Since they were going to use the citadel to bring the reapers back then?

Other interesting side notes,
- The first line of dialoge spoken by the starchild/reaper is 'Wake up'
- There is only one entrance to the control panel room inside 'the citadel', Shepard does not pass Anderson, or see him right in front, yet somehow Anderson gets to the control panel first.
- Anderson has a nice line about 'There's always another way'
- When Hackett first contacts you in the control room, he goes 'Shepard? Commander?' which immediately made me think of Legion and that I was still stuck in his damn VI XD That one's silly, but still.

>_>

Is it obvious I really badly want this to be true? XD
