I'm not sure if this is support or just a coincidence. But in the Mass Effect 3 art book (with collector's edition) there is no art on the "indoctrinated" parts we have all been discussing. Nothing on the citadel, starchild room, etc... Could this be that they wanted to hide the meaning or they just didn't have concept art for it or...?

There is also nothing the earth attack so it might be completely unrelated

Guys, is it just me or do we hear that growling noise again in the final scene where we see Shepard lying in the rubble? (4:30 - 4:40 of this video)

Sounds almost the same as the noise we hear as soon as Shep 'snaps out of it" during the 'boy in the ducts scene' from the intro level.

Thoughts?

I don't think so.

boy in the ducts sound
www.youtube.com/watch

The reaper sounds are made from a bear proof garbage can.. same sound.

It's very similar though. At first it does sound like a growl, but nothing else is moving around.

It could be a distant reaper.. the "talk" as they call it or It could just be metal rubbing as the reaper sound was made from just that.

Also consider the difference in radio communications. At the start of the dream the radio people calling for retreat are faint and sound far away. By the time shep makes it on board the citadel andersion comes in crystal clear, as does Hacket. There is a clear difference

Also.. if the citadel arms are opening up.. it would warrant a radio message. But it doesn't explain at all why Hackett knew it wa shepard... or why he would even assume it would be shepard.. anyone else could've easily have made it.. (but the problem is.. they told everyone to retread.. an order hackett knew about I'm sure.. and Anderson was most likely the one making it). Its indoctrination. At this point if you don't believe it.. with all the easily filled plot holes.. then the only way you can be convinced is when Bioware comes out during the ME3 panel and announces the twist.. (which they will) April 6th.

I think Bioware should release an ending April first. All it will be is Shepard going "I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite ending on the Citadel."

Also .. an argument against the "bad writing theory" if bioware writing is bad... then why does this site name KOTOR as the greatest plot twist ever in videogames? www.dorkly.com/article/14448/8-greatest-twists-in-video-game-history/page:3

This one shows its credibility as well

Some times I feel that people who refuse to think that the indoctrination makes sense or that call it dumb, are just in denial because they have seen companies ruin good games before and they just don't want to get hurt again :(. No worries though, I'm highly confident that there's a second part that they will release that was planned all along.
I personally feel that all this hype whether good or bad was intentional from BioWare. It would really ruin the game if they just told you straight up that harbringer is trying to indoctrinate you. You're playing as Shepard after all, Harbringer isn't going to just tell you "hey, I'm playing with your mind"
The rachni queen gives you a pretty clear depiction of her indoctrination. "Songs the color of oily shadows, and their voice silvered with fear, a tone from space hushed one voice after another, fear had shattered their minds" ---- Shepard's dream---- Aside from other really strong evidence.

I'm just anticipating shoving it down everyone's throats who simply denied it because...

The "him" as in do not trust him in the dream sequence is referring to the illusive man not the catalyst.

I don't know if this has been mentioned but Bioware could really get some serious DLC cash with this theory, not just in the releasing the 'real' endings category. With this theory in place, they could release DLC that continues on with Shepard being indoctrinated; after all they released Darkspawn Chronicles for DAO. Would be feasible to release the same concept with this franchise starring an 'evil' Shepard.

Food for thought!

Anyone noticed the tone of voice in the grasp scene at the end of the destroy option? If you played male or female Shep, it's not the same tone. You can guest the sex of the Shep. Another subtle sign by BW?

Not sure if this has been mentioned. There's a twitter account for Alliance News Network that is providing updates on the reaper war in "real-time" (https://twitter.com/#!/alliancenewsnet). It seems official, but I'm not sure. I wonder if the "real-time" assault on earth will coincide with the reveal of the ending.

Basic psychology of confirmation bias, you think IT is fake that's your theory. You think IT is real, that's your theory. Everything else is just circumstantial until CONFIRMATION e.g. at PAX.

In a week or so, this thread will either be triumphant in victory or accepting in defeat.

The point is, there will be people who will try to laugh at us and say I told you so and judging from the people here, I don't think we'll be the same way if this turns out to be true.

Speak for yourself. I've hired a singing telegram business to do an "I told you so" jingle for a few of the more vocal "you guys are crazy idiots" critics. :)

re. Mordin's comment...not sure but it could be because they're built off of humans thus they'd be new...

No bearing on IT but I just thought I'd elaborate. According to the codex, Destroyers are made from species that aren't deemed worthy to make a Capital Ship (which is the type Sovereign was, the ones modeled after a reaper cuddlefish). So in this cycle, humans would become a Capital Ship and asaris, turians, salarians, ect. would become Destroyers.

And to answer the next question for the folks who are as amused by the cuddlefish thing as I was when I first found out: Destroyers are modeled afte a leaf insect nymph. It was apparently an early design for Sovereign that got scrapped and they decided to bring it back when they needed a Reaper that "Shepard could do battle with".

They had to decode every bit of information they got out of it. Imagine you find a computer that uses a completely different coding process. You may be able to get information off it but you would need a lot of time to decode it.

That's why you bring Jeff Goldbloom and his magic iPad. Duh. :)

by the way, your theory implies that bioware intended to sell us a not finished game and to make us pay for the ending via dlc?

and you are ok with that? so actually what you are saying is, the indoctrination plot is so ingenious that you are willing to buy dlc to actually finish the game?

i think you are the ones who are indoctrinated.

oh, and its also quite offensive to bioware in my opinion, since you are accusing them of being greedy and willing to take advantage of their fans. just a thought though.

"Sorry, what was that? I'm getting a lot of bull**** on this line." - Shepard, to TIM

It is the quarian ship, but in the final scene when they are moving the crucible into the citadel, it looks almost exactly the same.

The massive quarian ships are 'liveships' if I remember right. They're used for things like growing edible plants and other large space-taking things a fleet would need to be self-sufficient. The crucible is designed to look like a cross between a NASA space probe and the Trinity bomb according to the art book.

Speaking of quarian ships, did anyone notice all the fungus and crap growing on... everything? During Tali's loyalty mission in ME2 I mean. No wonder they need biosuits. I'd probably die if I took a breath on that ship too, and I actually have a damn immune system.

The growl is--wait. Bear proof garbage can?! I don't... why would such a thing exist? HOW would it exist? What the garbage can made out of? Osmium?!

Another little quip:

Has anyone noticed that, during your run through the Geth Consensus, Legion hints at what might be some foreshadowing about interpretation?

When you look at the masked Quarians, Shepard asks, "Why are they wearing their suits?"

After their banter, Legion replies something along the line of the memories of the Geth can only be interpreted by what Shepard has already experienced.

Perhaps this explains some of the events during the final scenes, such as the "shifting walls," the human symbols, the Saren-style self-offing of TIM, etc?

It is just wind ? It doesnt somund like growling sound when Shepards indoctrination fails.

Calm down people We dont need any further evidence now - The Indoctrination Theory is REAL.

You should compare the growls, very VERY similar... <_<

"Shepard... You fight against inevitability. Thus struggling against cosmic winds."

Shepard, baby. You were doomed to die and everything you did was in vain.

You never really find out much about the Reapers... which is cool, because you're not meant to ever understand them as a human being.

Oh hey, has it been mentioned that the crucible is a metaphor for a sperm, the citadel is a metaphor for an egg which opens up and grows when the catalyst, i.e. 'the spirit of life' flicks on. Representing genesis and a new beginning.

I still hold the fact that a DLC ending is improbable and impossible since after your complete the game you are back on the Normandy before the Cerberus base attack.. You would then have to play another 4 hours just to get back to the "ending" again, Does not seem likely.
