'Shepard surviving' is clearly a spoiler, friend.

What if Shepard was SURVIVING....because he was singing "I Will Survive" by Ms. Gloria Gaynor?

Think about that....

I won't hold it against you, just trying to spread some good advice. Regardless, if I was in your position, I probably wouldn't listen, either.

I'm considering not playing the end of the game. I already know how it ends. But I would never stop playing the other two games, or even the rest of ME3, just because it ended badly. By that logic, I wouldn't be able to rewatch most of my favorite TV shows or movies either. I can ignore a bad ending and imagine my own. I'm used to that. It doesn't ruin all of the great things about Mass Effect for me. It doesn't make me hate BioWare either. It's just disappointing, and in my case, an ending DLC would make it worse.  I don't use an online connection with my Xbox, so I've never played any DLC. I can deal with missing out on extra missions and squadmates, but a better ending? I won't even pretend that it wouldn't hurt a little to know that most people got their happy ending if I'm stuck without it. If it was an expansion pack available in stores though, I'd buy it on release date. Not that I'm expecting anything.

And I was one of the people who thought it wouldn't be so bad before I saw that the game guide confirmed what others were saying. The leaked script seemed more encouraging than this.

Nah, stop trolling.

The day I take advice from overdramatic BSN is never gonna come (and if it does, somebody please kill me). Sunshine and bunnies endings are all nice and dandy, but I don't need them to enjoy a story.

P.S.: I already know the barebones of why everyone complains, and no, that doesn't kill my motivation in the slightest.

Weren't you arguing it wasn't so bad a few days before release Cheez?

Quite the turnaround.

It's different when you experience it yourself.

With all the time, money, and emotion I've invested in the series, I'm left feeling hurt, confused, and cheated.

I'm actually writing an alternate ending as we speak, one that accounts for player choice and the flavor of the series far better than what we got.  I'm cutting out the parts that added nothing or just confused the narrative, and filling the holes with stuff that would provide the player, or at least myself, with proper closure and a feeling of accomplishment.

Heavy risk, but the PRIIIZE....

I know it's old, but I can't stop. Look forward to reading it. There's a poll up that someone did that offers another ending and has gotten hundreds of votes. It would be great to see yours.

I just finished the game not even 10 minutes ago. And the ending was rather........meh. Nowhere near as bad as people are making it out to be. But I was kinda expecting a ending like ME3 had.

I've gone one better. I watched the endings play out and decided to skip the third game entirely, as if it never even happened. Kept my money and spared myself the pain. No great loss it seems. Why bother really? After what I saw, it effectively kills EVERYTHING in both the other games as well, so I'm doing my Shep and his gang a great kindness......I'm keeping them away.

I'll make up my own ending thank you very much.

Not really, living or dying can happen in ME2.  Why not in ME3?

Still not a spoiler.

I'm with you. That was vague as hell. I was confused, and I beat the game this afternoon.

Some people just like to complain.

Bad hurting of my feelings: THAT WAS CHEAP.  AND STUPID.  AND ALSO CHEAP.  BUT MOSTLY STUPID.  I FEEL LIKE I WASTED MY TIME AND MONEY.

Also relevant, gets players to ask big questions, doing it right: "Oh, wow.  I never thought of that.  Does this mean that...?  Wait, so then this guy was...?  Damn.  That's deep.  I'm going to have to re-evaluate my personal beliefs and morals now."

Doing it wrong: "What?  Wait... why did that happen?  Is it... are we done?  That's it?  What kind of pseudo-philosophical BS was that?  What point were you trying to make?  What's the moral here?  You just dumped me and left me with nothing, god damn it!  The only thing I learned from this is that you are a bunch of dicks!"

So basically Bioware tried to make a deep, thoughtful, emotional ending and failed.  They failed really hard.  It's sad, because it had a lot of potential and they blew it.  I give them points for trying, but that can't make up for their hilarious lack of foresight and tripping at the finish line.

It made every decision, every interaction, and the entire purpose of the last three games POINTLESS. I won't get into why, but you can't legiitmately say that the ending was anything but a poorly executed Deus Ex/Evangelion clone.

Not the first time a trilogy failed at the end. Return of Jedi, anyone? Or The Matrix Revolutions?

It happens.

I don't believe it's the nature of the bittersweet ending of the franchise that people are complaining about - in fact, per se, I have no problem with it either, as I kind of like dark, bittersweet endings to epics myself. But it's the sheer ballziness of Bioware where all they almost literally did was change the colour scheme of the explosions in the endings. Bioware couldn't even bother to do a Fallout style overlay and give a proper ending to the various choices and variables throughout 1, 2, and 3. And that's as basic as you can get - which is a still image, perhaps some music, and a god damn voice over narration. Hell, I would've settled for white text on black narrating the end and various choices I made during the trilogy, which Bioware had no problem with using for their intros of the 3 games.

But still, I guessed I "enjoyed" the ending. There was a thread a day ago where I and others were discussing the blatant similarities between ME3's endings and that of the original Deus Ex, and I in under 30 minutes was able to write a better augmented ending of what I believe Bioware was trying to go for by ripping Deus Ex off, but that thread was closed, not that it mattered anyway, as it was getting very little traffic to begin with.

Sadly I did the edning two hours ago. I'm both confused and very disappointed. The ending makes the whole game feels meaningless.

I have it on good authority that small, adorable aliens are the most vicious. Ewoks, Nibbler, those things from Galaxy Quest.

The Battle of Endor was a success because the Empire didn't expect the native midget bears to be ninjas.
