You created Shep, adventured with him for hours, years, and cared about the world he..or she lived in, especially since your choices helped to shape it.
Now, here comes Bioware, who gave us Shep in the first place, deciding that his time has come! Everything must go!
Wow! After all that he/she did for the company, that's the thanks he gets?
Unbelievable!

The Battle of Endor was a success because the Empire didn't expect the native midget bears to be ninjas.
Actually, I was talking about the Jub Jub song.
What. THE HELL?

I'm making that a meme.
"I REJECT YOUR CANON AND SUBSTITUE MY OWN!"
Seriously though, as sad and pathetic as it is, Bioware huwt my feewings and not in the good way.
Good hurting of my feelings: OMG THAT IS SO SAD POOR BABIES BUT
I KNOW THINGS WILL GET BETTER NOW AND YOU ARE ALL HEROES
SO YOUR SACRIFICE WAS NOT IN VAIN AGH MY TEARS!!
Bad hurting of my feelings: THAT WAS CHEAP. AND STUPID. AND ALSO CHEAP. BUT MOSTLY STUPID. I FEEL LIKE I WASTED MY TIME AND MONEY.
Also relevant, gets players to ask big questions, doing it right: "Oh, wow. I never thought of that. Does this mean that...? Wait, so then this guy was...? Damn. That's deep. I'm going to have to re-evaluate my personal beliefs and morals now."
Doing it wrong: "What? Wait... why did that happen? Is it... are we done? That's it? What kind of pseudo-philosophical BS was that? What point were you trying to make? What's the moral here? You just dumped me and left me with nothing, god damn it! The only thing I learned from this is that you are a bunch of dicks!"
So basically Bioware tried to make a deep, thoughtful, emotional ending and failed. They failed really hard. It's sad, because it had a lot of potential and they blew it. I give them points for trying, but that can't make up for their hilarious lack of foresight and tripping at the finish line.
Not the first time a trilogy failed at the end. Return of Jedi, anyone? Or The Matrix Revolutions?
It happens.
It does happen. But movies typically only have one ending and zero control given to the audience. Thus, if a writer ****s up an ending in a movie, that's because there's only one for them to **** up. In video games, especially those like Mass Effect, where cause and effect are supposed to be shown through your (the players) actions and choices, not to mention having multiple endings should reflect wholly different outcomes for each of those "multiple" endings.
The very fact that they're literally all the ****ing same shows that both, whoever wrote those endings is not a very good writer and whoever gave them the green light should be fired..or at least demoted to something they can't choke on.
As AdmiralCheez put it; BioWare failed to create a thoughtful conclusion to the trilogy. Probably from too much pressure from both fans and EA. Making crunch time the moment the leads decided to start huffing paint to cope.

But yes, the ending sucks. On multiple levels it sucks. Even going beyond the actual ending choices and how nonsensical they are, the most damning aspect is that they create more cliffhangers and plot threads which will never be resolved in a satisfactory way. They needed to provide closure and a sense of accomplishment and instead they ended the game and the series with a cheap, pointless and nonsensical cliffhanger.

If you're going to see it, regardless of what we say, play it for yourself. I was in shock, frozen in a state of deliriousness, unable to understand how they pulled off such a travesty. It's a bitter but unique feeling, I recommend it.RocketManSR2 wrote...

That's a good way to put it.
It's almost like Bioware thought, "This is the last game... **** it."

I haven't bought the game yet, and from what I've read so far, I may never buy it.
I had been planning on buying the DLC for 1 and 2 as well, but I'll be cancelling those plans too. The only money Bioware MIGHT be seeing from me any time soon is the renewed subscription to SWTOR, because at least they didn't f*ck that one up.

Nah, stop trolling.
I see no trolling here.
The day I take advice from overdramatic BSN is never gonna come (and if it does, somebody please kill me). Sunshine and bunnies endings are all nice and dandy, but I don't need them to enjoy a story.
Except nobody is really suggesting that. Not just you, but people on here in general need to stop trying to make an argument by exaggeration. Happier ending =/= disney-style perfect ending, and better ending =/= happier ending. People are asking for logic. They are asking for balance. They are asking for meaning.
What BioWare pulled here is utter BS, and pointing it out is not trolling.
Now, I will agree that telling people not to do something is pointless. People don't pay for this game, they don't invest so much only to pull out at the last 20 minutes. But that doesn't mean it wouldn't still be the best thing to do.

And if the endings are that bad, just start it all over with a new Shepard and get over it.
Seeing all my decisions from ME1 and ME2 reflecting in the game is awesome:
SPOILER ALERT: like this little passage at the Citadel. Don't watch it you don't want to be spoiled and if you never completed Asari Matriarch's Writings in ME1! =P

At least End of Evangelion closed it up definitively, although it was very depressing. The ending of ME3 was not only depressing, but it was extremely rushed and closed nearly nothing up.andy69156915 wrote...
I'll put it this way, ME3's ending sucks as much as End of Evangelion's ending... It's that bad. If you're a fan of that series, and saw that ending, you will know how bad that is.
Thank goodness for Evangelion:Retake...
Also, the evidence seems to point to the idea that the Evangelion Rebuilds are actually sequels.

Cute.
Normally I wouldn't say 5 minutes even at the end could ruin a game completely but if anything qualifies ME3 would. That said everything before that is really good IMO and it's almost worth playing though. There were about 10 moments so great I tabbed out and had to squee about them in my status updates. Plus lots of other great moments.

No no, not Rebuild, Retake. BIG difference. Retake was a fan doujin made by a huge fan of the series that very well matched the artstyle, dialog style, and everything about the main series. There's 2 versions, one where the sex scenes are actually shown, and an "all ages" version for people that don't want scenes like that in something they're reading. Trust me, it's not really a hentai or anything. I would go with the H version, it seems to fit better with those scenes. It's EXTREMELY well done, and gives a far more respectable end then End did.
Funny thing though, it's still a mind screw. Example, small spoilers but... End wasn't even truly overwritten by Retake. You'll see what I mean if you read it.

Look it up and read if you're a fan, you. Will. Love. It. You ask me, Retake is canon. Anyone who says otherwise can go suck a cactus.
