I'm not 100% sure, but the game implies if you don't cure the genophage that Mordin wouldn't need to go up the tower and get blown up.
Anderson always dies I believe. Just a matter of when. I'd be pissed if he lived and just sat there watching my Shepard ascend to be sacrificed. Why can't I just toss his body into the synthesis beam?

Thane I'm pretty sure you're correct on. I hear you can save Mordin, but only if you destroyed the genophage cure from Maelon. Otherwise, you have to kill him to stop the cure. Anderson is a dead man.

The whole "His last wish was for you." "You won't be alone long." exchange with Kolyat just made me lose it, especially with Hale voicing femshep.
Also, "This is for Thane, you son of a ****." Best part of the ending. Hale nailed it.

Amazing scenes. Truly powerful. Honestly, when asked to mention what I actually enjoyed about ME3, I start with the scripted deaths (you can sort of prevent Mordin's, but I think Wrex has to die, and I'd rather keep him...besides, Mordin's death just works so well.)

I agree, the hope and sacrifice given by those characters was fantastic...its a shame they ruined it in the end.

Legion saying "They need me" damn near made me cry. Thane was just plain awesome with Biotic **** Slap heard around the world and him getting the last fight he deserved very fitting for an Assassin and his story. Mordin was sad but happy... "You did it feeling" he redeemed himself for what happened.

All of them where handled amazingly well.

Anyway: yeah Thane went out like a bamf. That scene was so awesome. I doubt there's anyway to save him, he was almost dead to begin with.
I think the scripted death I'm most upset about is Anderson. He was so relieved to hear that Sanders was alive and was ready to actually do something about his feelings for her. Then TIM gets in the way like the bastard he is :-(
You can't "save" Anderson. You can just give him a slower death so he has a few more minutes. He dies no matter what.

I was more sad about Tali commiting suicide if you side with the geth. I didn't even chose the geth because I got the Paragon option, but a friend I was watching did. After seeing it I told him he was evil, ran to his xbox, took out the cd, and then took off running with it. We had a good game of cat and mouse until a college campus security guard stopped us because it was pretty late out and we shouldn't have been messing around. He asked us why we were running around. We told him we were just messing around because I was mad at him for killing off Tali in Mass Effect 3.
This 60-something year-old guy raises an eyebrow, his mouth drops slightly, and exclaims "Tali dies?!" We walked away awkwardly.

Sorry but they basically screwed over all companion romances from ME2. They basically ignore them.

Thane's death would have been alright if they hadn't hinted at being able to cure him in Lair of The Shadow Broker.

They might very well have been able to cure him if he hadn't gotten stabbed in the chest.
You still get to romance Miranda, (you have a scene in the apartments but it's not as... well, explicit as the other romance scenes) and kiss Jack quite a few times at the Grissom Academy mission and eventually commit to her.
It's one thing to be dissapointed that they aren't squadmates, but another to say they've been completely ignored.

I liked Legion's and I almost teared up both times when I thought Grunt and Conrad died, only to be relieved laughing when they both survived.

For Mordin, supposedly he can live if Wrex is dead and you destroyed the genophage cure. It's next on my list of things to do. Mordin is my #1 favourite in the entire series so seeing him go hit me pretty hard.
Legion I believe dies anyway as well. . . Even siding with the Geth with or without Tali (I did my first playthrough with a Loyal Tali and Loyal Legion and second playthrough with a dead Tali and Loyal Legion. He still dies sacrificing himself to his people.)
As for Anderson, it was pretty sad but I think it lacked the impact the other characters had because it was followed up immediately with those godawful endings. You didn't really have any time for it to sink in or contemplate on it.

I can confirm this is not true. I destroyed that genophage cure in ME2 -- there was no way in hell I was letting the Krogran reproduce again -- and Mordin was still hell-bent on creating a cure in ME3 and ended up getting exploded in the tower for his efforts.
