The bartender matriarch on illium stated in one of her conversation wheel options that she proposed to build more mass relays but was turned down by the asari council on that option. The way this was written and how she said it implied that it wasn't some fantastical idea to try but that they already had the understanding of how to do so but were to lazy or didn't want to waste the resources to build more relays.
Thoughts, ideas, or just comments are more than welcome here because this is the first thing I have posted after beating the game and seeing the ending. Instead of being infantile and ranting like a little child and cursing like a forty old sailor I decided to dig deep and remember all of my playthroughs and see where they might be able to take this.
P.S. I could see them turning this single idea into an entire new series of games or even an mmo way in the future of the series.
No more mass relays? Really...I don't believe it

Are you sure she said build and not activate? Not even the Protheans fully understood the mass relays.

because if one thing is certain the asari and salarians have never once studied the mass relays or mass effect or dark energy.

They'll rebuild the mass relays. They might not work the same, but they'll get there.

They didn't fully understand it but they had created one that linked to the citidal.

They probably dropped that idea along with the whole dark energy plotline.

figureing out how to build a relay will take, most likely, so long that more people will die being cut off from the rest of the galaxy, then they did in the reaper invation.
further more, 100% there will be MILLIONS of people stuck, FOREVER
