Yes, this is another complaint about the ending, but I figured that I should present my argument to Bioware to demonstrate how the ending doesn't even serve their own good, and it was a mistake for them to execute it the way that they did, which seems to me to be blindingly foolish.

The biggest, most fundamental problem with the end of ME3 is the fact that it destroyed the intricate universe that had been build throughout the 3 games. All the work the Bioware went through to develop the Codex, and the universe in general surrounding the ME series, is now meaningless because the Mass Relays are destoryed regardless. This means that that 'galactic society' as we know it in ME will cease to exist, and by the time that we can have a possibility of reconnecting with even different human colonies, so much time would have passed that they would be unrecognizable relative to their origin societies. While this has the immediate repercussion of making every decission we made largely meaningless, it also prevents the continuation of the IP in any recognizable form.

To make the analogue to another industry, BioWare took a prize-winning horse, won a racing tournament with it, and then instead of studding it out or running it through more tournaments, they sent it to the glue factory. They have killed ME as a series for eveyone, and prevented any sort of continuity between these games and any future fiction that someone might wish to use it for.

This is a horrendous mistake for bioware because they have functionally cut themselves off from any future licence deals or royalties, not to mention that the chances of their Mass Effect movie being sucessful have now been slaughtered. They killed their IP right as it was catching its stride.

I dont think they though their decision was bad.

The choices they made for the ending ARE bad however, and they need to own up to them

BW will make sure this story goes on, if they have retcon half the game or use mind-breaking logic to turn everything back to normal.

I don't care if the series is unequivocally over. It's that the ending didn't fit, in terms of narrative or gameplay.
