All they needed was some VO of harbinger talking as shepard is walking injured to the beam. And have shepard voicing his/her determination as you walk to the beam.

I expected Anderson or Hackett to mention Harbinger in his reports, especially when Anderson started mentioning London, or at least when you got there. I know there was the mention of him when you return to Earth. A line from Shep to Anderson when they're on the Citadel would've been nice too.

What they should do is make a DLC where we play as Anderson during the resistance and since it sounds like Harbinger is on Earth during the whole game that is a great way to involve him in the DLC.

But there *was* Harbinger. LOTS of Harbinger. The last ten minutes of the game was Harbinger trying to fool you into doing his bidding and not press the "Reapers lose" button while disguised as an innocend and well-intended extremist Deus ex Machina child.
/wishful thinking

This is what happened o my Shepard(s). Canon or not.

I think he should have been the reaper that was taken out by the thanix missiles with him talking to you the entire time

Should be harby instead of spirit god child on citadel. Should also be dark energy ending, it woudl all work so nicely by comparison. And it would be 'nice' for him to shout at you while your running to the beam.

I blame the people that constantly complained about Harbinger in ME 2 for his reduced role in ME 3.

Yeah. Stop hating on Harby people. He just want to be your friend.:(

Harbinger. Misunderstood bromance.

He is your salvation through destruction!

Well that explains the crap endings.  Harby got his hands (uh... legs, things) on the script.

They should've at least shown him getting killed/whatever by the Crucible blast. That at the VERY least..

It would have been nice to have talked to him before the crucible, but alas, Mac Walters.

I'll never understand the need people have to have the same villain constantly reappear all the time in something. It was like The Master in Doctor Who -- he just kept popping up and they kept diluting his character more and more. To be honest, I hope Moffat is smart enough to never bring him back. But I digress.

There's a simple solution to the "Harbinger problem," which is that when an invasion occurs, the Catalyst may force the Reapers to concentrate their processing purely on a successful harvest, thus further repressing any sense of individuality or personality that a Reaper might have. When a harvest isn't in progress, the Catalyst may allow the Reapers more flexibility to exercise their personality.

This explains Sovereign in ME1, Harbinger in ME2, and Harbinger in ME3.

There's no way this was the most recent thread on this topic...

But since it's here - I honestly didn't miss harbinger at all. There was nothing special about it as a character, and I never felt any arch nemesis vibe between it and Shep. Harbinger was just this guy who said a lot of things very loudly. Besides, with an entire galaxy to work on harvesting, why should Harbinger even bother tracking Shep down? And with thousands of other Reapers about, why should Shep care about Harbinger? There's just no dynamic between them.

I wouldn't have minded meeting other Reapers, although the only real difference between one or the other is the sound of it's voice and the choice of words it might use to tell you how inferior you are. Still it might have been cool. I mean, there was the Rannoch Reaper, but that one was decidedly unimpressive. And kind of ineloquent as well.

I thought they really wasted Harbinger in Arrival .. I mean he just pops up right at the end and says a few words. Compare that to Soverign and Sheps meeting on Virmier  which still has me in awe. They could and should have used Harbinger to much better effect throughout the game... may the guys at BW need to watch this wee clip

The fans only have themselves to blame for less Harbinger.

The BSN ****ed and moaned about that "Saturday Morning Cartoon Villain" that "wasn't nearly as awesome as Sovereign."

What did you people think was going to happen?

I'm just throwing it out there but I have a pretty sweet idea for a scene/battle at the final mission. You and your entire crew get surrounded by a bunch of husks, marauders etc. And all of the sudden one by one you hear "assuming direct control", and then again, and then again, and then again! Each husk is being controlled by a different reaper! This could have been in the place of the strait up battle by the missiles. Just sayin' I liked the whole harbinger taking control of the collectors in ME2.

Yes but Bioware made the same stupid mistake every other dev keeps making, When a mechanic or some other feature in a game is complained about you should try to improve the feature and how it works, not remove it entirely instead of trying to fix it

BSN complained about MAKO.
BW erased it from main game and replaced  by Hammerhead.
BSN complained about Hammerhead.
BW create ME3 without vehicles.
BSN complained about lack of vehicles.

Removing non-working feature is sometimes solution too.

It clearly isn't otherwise people wouldn't have complained about the lack of vehicle in ME3,  as Yhatzee put it the Mako handled like a fridge on rollerskates, So Bioware went to the other extreme with a vehicle that handled so well it was no challenge and would even aim at all targets for you meaning you just had to hold down the fire button in a vague direction.

What they should have done is just improved the way that the mako handled and put in in missions where it can be used to it's full advantages.

When two version of one game feature are refused by gamers and this feature isn't essential for game, it is better to erased it then try it again. It is more economical and logical.

When people complain THAT loudly about something, generally no amount of "tweaking" is going to fix it.

If you buy a car, then return it two days later screaming about how terrible it is in every way and how you can't believe they sold you a car that they knew was a piece of ****... chances are they aren't going to try to replace the power steering and expect you to drive it home with a smile.

(Yes, I know the analogy isn't particularly accurate)

And that's the greater issue.  The BSN has had this tendency to overreact in regards to damn near every minor issue with "OMG GAMEBREAKING FLAW!!!!" that once that reaction was actually semi-warranted (although even then the reaction here to the ending was still way over the top), Bioware had already tuned the place out and dismissed the complaints as just more of the same from the Bioware Sociopath Network.
