Just wanted to post saying I support.

The best line out of Jacob's ME3 romance was when Shepard said, "If we both die here today, I want to know that we've said all there was to say."

Best because it was so patently terrible. Nothing was accomplished with that conversation. Jacob acts like he had a forntal lobotomy, Shepard acts like a kiss would fix everything (and in the same voice no one liked from Jacob's romance scenes) and it just makes no bloody sense that "forever" equated to six months, after Jacob admitted that he loved Shepard in ME2 and that the two of them were together far longer than they were apart.

And that conversation with Brynn. AND THAT CONVERSATION ON THE CITADEL. Did they forget that maybe, just maybe, not every Shepard would be happy at hearing Jacob was having a baby with someone else?? That maybe some Shepard's wouldn't take the high road and go, "I'm happy for you. Really"?!

Posting to support, though I also have a theory. It may be crack-addled, but since crazy theories are flying around anyway about the ending, I may as well field one for Jacob.

What if Jacob already knew Brin was pregnant when Shep turned up at the scientists' hideout, and Brin used that to keep him with her instead of letting him go back to rejoin Shep? I can understand turning to someone else for physical comfort in a moment of loneliness. And Jacob has enough issues with how his father acted where he wouldn't walk out on his child. He might think that Shepard wouldn't even want a man who walked on his pregnant booty call, and he keeps the truth from her because he doesn't want to dump more trouble on her plate.

It's soap-opera-y, but I'd rather maul Brin's character than Jacob's, and it makes a hell of a lot more sense than his random 180 in the game as written.

All the ME2 romances were handled with no care, well some seemed a bit better than others, but otherwise... not that much. Jacob and Thane got the worst out of it, sadly.

I just want to contribute here too since, like I said in the Thane thread, I feel like I got shat on twice by the game with how Thane and Jacob were treated and I have Shepards that romanced them both.

Even though Jacob wasn’t my favorite romance, I had a Sheapard that I felt was perfect for him and I was interested to see how his romance would turn out in ME3. I was actually expecting BW to improve his romance since many people didn’t like how it went in ME2. Wow, I was sure wrong about that.

I hope Bioware makes a fix for the poor treatment of the ME2 romances soon.

It doesn't make it better to me. He shouldn't be having booty calls if he's in a relationship and he should use protection if he doesn't want to get someone pregnant.

The lesson to take from this is pick popular characters to romance, because god help you if you pick an unpopular one. I've seen war criminals treated with more dignity than the Jacobmance.

Well, I tried to come up with a sensical explanation for it.  Though the truth is that when the writers character assassinate, it takes a fair amount of effort to come up with somethign remotely sensical.

Ah well.  There's always fanfiction.

The facebook page is live, but as I never romanced Jacob, I didn't have all the details. Just add my own .02.

I fully support you guys. When I got to the Jacob scene with my Thane-romance-Shep I immediately thought 'I hope this scene will be different for Jacob romancers =/'
And then I found out it isn't... FemSheps really got the short end of the stick in this game :(

Yeah, amazing how we had both Jacob and Thane taken away from us, leaving Kaidan and Liara. Garrus was the only other male love interest, if I remember correctly (love Garrus). Otherwise, with stuck with some poorly drawn reporter.

To be fair, weren't female fans complaining that Jacob's romance was "boring" or "creepy" because of the "prize" scene?

Now Bioware's trashed the romance. Maybe they were catering to the fans whose complaints they were hearing.

Hmm...wonder what they're thinking now? And they should have never, ever, written it off like that. It was completely cruel. And I never romanced the dude.

Posting here to send my sympathies. I didn't even romance him and I still found Jacob's storyline absolutely offensive and I hate that it happened.

OK, so it wasn't the most popular romance, and general opinion seemed to be that the writing was weaker than some of the other characters.  That doesn't give BioWare the right to throw a hissy fit and trash the romance out of laziness or petulance.

Criticizing something doesn't always mean we want it to go away; sometimes we just want it to be better.  I liked Jacob as a character, but I took issue with some of his writing.  Did I want the character to disappear?  No.  Did I want this travesty to happen?  Absolutely not.

Well while I never romanced Jacob, I feel sorry for all his fans... Maybe devs forgot that he is LI like they forgot about Thane...

No, they didn't forget. Whatever they've done to the characters we loved, they didn't forget. That's what makes this so hard to understand. Frankly, given what they did to Jacob, I'd rather they just forgot about him. At least with Thane, I'll take what they gave. I won't like all of it, but I'll take it.

Jacob? He died after ME2, whether or not he bought it in the SM.

This does not make sense. How does turning Jacob into a cheater cater to anyone? Fans who don't like the romance don't like the character and ignore the romance but since he's fine in non-romanced games, they're not catered to. Fans who liked the romance are catered to even less.

Doubtful, since the only people who'd be seeing these scenes would be those who looked past that kind of stuff, if only out of curiosity. I'd like to think that well of Bioware's treatment of Jacob in ME3, but it just doesn't make sense. Of course, how is that different from any other way to look at what they've done here? The whole thing doesn't make sense any way you slice it. That's really the end of it.

I like the part where Brynn decides to name her baby Shepard after stealing Jacob from her.

If you romanced Jacob, you should just never do his mission. Let him get killed by Cerberus.

Seriously, having Jacob on the normandy might have been an heavy risk... But the prize of having the ability to continue this piece of anthology would have been perfect...

Kinda bummed the guy didn't end back on the Normandy, only one who would've made sense to be there...

Better yet, kill him in the SM. Then, at least you get to talk to Cortez about him, I think.

Hey, guys..

http://twitter.com/#...124151607070721

This tweet came in about Thane. Maybe someone should tweet about Jacob and see what comes up? So far as it goes, it can't get much worse with either of our favorite characters, can it?
