The review scores don't bother me, because I think the vast majority of ME3 deserves it. The fact that nobody mentioned having an issue with the ending bothers me. (Except maybe Jeff Gerstmann from Giant Bomb, but he had a lower opinion of the game overall. Didn't single out the ending too much.)
I say everyone look out for @ZODIAC_MF on Twitter cause he's playing through the game and tweeting about it, and when he gets to the end I can guarantee he will lose his ****ing MIND.
How did Mass Effect 3 get such amazing reviews...

There's a difference between "the game sucked" and "the end made the game suck.". I'm in the latter camp. ME1 was amazing. ME2 was really good. ME3 was outstanding, until I got to the end and found out that nothing in ME1 or ME2 or ME3 for that matter made any difference. They are still good games, but for me at least, they are not worth playing again. I think reviews are more for a general audience, not the 12 Shepards and counting audience.

It's an amazing game, except for the ending. I would easily give it a 10 if it weren't for the ending, and I don't hand out 10s like they were nothing special.

What everyone else is saying.
If you get 99% of the questions right on a test, the teacher is going to give you a 99, even if your incorrect answer was the most ridiculous thing anyone has ever written.
99% of the game was one of the most--if not THE most--amazing things I have ever played. The game does not deserve poor scores for 5 minutes of cutscene.

I JUST finished the game like 5 minutes ago. I loved the game. I'm a little iffy on the ending but the game is still an amazing game. An ending can't take that away.
It most certainly can. Had I known the ending was this ****ty then I wouldn't have bought the game, I can tell you that.
Cry more. I play a game to have fun. I loved the story but like I said the ending was pretty iffy for me. I can live with it though. Apparently most people are just so shocked and shaken up about the endings that its ruining their lives.
A bad ending does NOT make the entire game bad. That is just being childish. Stop being childish people.
I invite you to consider that individuals with alternative opinions are not 'childish,' and that your attempts to declare as much are extremely egotistical and, interestingly, show a lack of maturity. For some people, the ending is really important. It's quite alright if you feel otherwise, but it does not mean that your position is the adult one.

Considering this is the end of the line. That ending least weigh 50%.

Because 99% of the game, outside of the final 5 minutes was probably one of the best games of all time IMO. Still worthy of a good review overall despite how much i HATE the ending.

Yes, Its not just the ending of one game, its the ending of the entire series. That means its worth more than 1 percent.

Put it this way.
Why should a great game with a terrible ending get a PERFECT score? (Or in the case of some reviewers near perfect) and why should none of the major reviewers bring up the games awful ending in their review (W/out spoiling the ending)?
I've seen a number of major reviewers put up in the past "The bulk of the game was great but the ending was unsatisfying" or something of the like.... How can you give the game a perfect score?
And more than that like others have pointed out this is the ending of the SERIES, a series like none other, it put player decisions from all past games front & center of this one. How can you give the end of the series a perfect score?
That's what is so frustrating.

I'm going to guess that the ending is satisfying for new players. For those who don't have imports and thus don't really think about what impact the choices you've made in the previous games has on the endings. For those who haven't spent two games getting attached to the lore, story and characters.
I mean, how many of these reviewers played the previous games? And if they did, how many imported their saves, or really thought of it as anything else but a part of their jobs?

Seriously. It got 8/10 in the only respectable review i saw. All, and i mean really ALL the other reviews could have been written by EA market boys as far as i know because they basically said the same thing. This could actually be a possibility.
If we speculate in other possible reasons i believe there are two others to consider:
*Reviewers measure other things than we do when they do other reviews. They don't care about ME import bug. They don't care about anything of that we do. They only care about... who knows.
*Reviewers seem to be gamers that play very many different titles. Thus they actually aren't fans a specific title. They play every game out there. If you compare ME3 to Duke Nukem Forever, ofcourse its a 9.5 or whatever. If you compare it to the other crap games they play on a regular basis, its probably really good.
But for us fans, its utter crap. Its a useless title done to cater the masses and the reviewers. Thus, it gets good scores.
Reviews of hyped titles say nothing.

The game itself is absolutely amazing, and minus the ending, this would easily be the GOTY. Everything is done right in this game, and it does actually deserve the scores it got.
The ending just sucks and goes against everything else in the series.

Ok, if someone went through the entire game and enjoyed it up until the ending, how the hell can they say that the ENTIRE game is bad? Explain that to me, please.

As someone before stated, the rest of the game was really good; it was the ending that ruined it.
So, what I surmise, is that the reviews (or most of them) were written based off unfinished playthroughs. People played the game and did enjoy them, but didn't finish the story for their review. Otherwise, it would be mentioned more often, I think, since the ending of a series based on choices would be an extreme selling point.

I think that is what makes this such a huge deal. Earlier parts of a series can recover from a bad conclusion because we know there is more to come, but when the last part stinks at the very end and that is what we're left with, it's hard not to weigh it heavily.

its a usual thing.
reviewers get caught up in the hype, want to get people to read their stuff so they play down features, after a while things will die down and the accepted norm will be that ME3 is a great game with some serious flaws; 1 key doing everything and an ending which isn't as good as it should of been.

For whatever it's worth, in IGN's article talking about Chobot being in the game they put a disclaimer in saying that Chobot's involvement in the game would not sway their opinion when it came time to do the review. Not that they couldn't have been lying.

The game as a whole is utterly amazing. I loved the game up until the end. Shepard was scripted a lot of the time making me feel like he was a different character than the one I had crafted over the past 2 games, but overall I was highly satisfied with the game.
Until the end. Then I was left with just nothing. Just a 'what the f is this?' feeling.

Perhaps the reviewers are satisfied with the game, and actually most of the fan base is too, it's just a few moments that ruin the overall experience for long-time fans.
People who have devoted so much time and effort into their characters and decisions over the course of the series are the ones who feel 'left out' & 'hurt'.
The game itself is great if you are newcomer to the ME universe, or just judging it on gameplay alone, but for the long-timers, the fan-base?, yeah, it's a slap in the face. Not what kept us playing and so devoted to the series.
It's not the game we are judging per se, it's the lack of feeling that anything we've done, as devoted fans of the series, even mattered.
It's as if they sold us out........
