For all of you who did not like the ending post an ending you would like to see.

So I'll start and for one of my preferred endings I will enven keep the powerful AI Kid.

1. On the Citidel Shepard chooses to eliminate all AI life. He is saddened that it will kill the Geth and EDI but it will save trillions. Commander Shepard dies in the explosion while on Earth the fighters watch the Reapers go dead. Cut to scenes in space with more reapers exploding, cut in on a few ships to get reactions from various races.

Then have the scene cut to black and then reopen back on Earth with the Normandy landing among the ruins. Have the crew step out and look out awed silence at fighters celebrating among the fallen reapers.

Have Joker say "Wow we actually did it.

Then have Liara (or other AI) look up at the still exploding Citidel: "Yes but at a tremondous cost."

Lastly have the rest of the squad look up at the exploding Citidel and have a moment of silence for their fallen commander.

2. After the Crucible is put in place just have it work as intended. After Shepard tells Anderson they have the best seats in the house cut to scenes where the Crucible just starts firing powerful laser blasts at the Reapers, all the while Anderson and Shepard watch on. Fade to Black and open back up with the two squad members you left on Earth come in behind you (in this scenario they held back for some reason).

Okay there are two scenarios I would have like to see so now lets see you all put your thoughts down.

The fans have done something far more effective: they've lampooned the **** ending we were handed.

Behold the majesty. When a lampoon ending beats the tar out of the "real" ending, you know something failed in Bioware's writers' room.

Have the Crucible fail. Shepard and Anderson wait for it to work, but nothing happens; both die on the Citadel. The fleet, realizing their loss, retreats, knowing that, even though they lost the battle, the Reapers are not invincible, and there is still hope. Depending on earlier choices, have Earth be destroyed, the resistance still clearly going strong, or the species obviously doomed, etc...

Really, anything that doesn't involve god-AI's being pulled out of someone's ass and the message of the series being changed in five minutes from "Don't hate others for no reason" to "ROBOTS ARE BAD," and I'd be happy.

Shep survives the one Destroy ending (highest war asset requirment) and is shown being reunited with the crew and/or LI.

Another acceptable option would be to have them somehow marooned together.

Finally, just showing the crew is rescued or at least gets off that planet and back to civilization.

I think any other changes are unreasonable because they're woven into this masterful plot (couldn't type that with a straight face btw), but at the very, very least, tack something happy on to that Destroy ending.

I posted this elsewhere, but here:

The whole catalyst-little boy thing is taken out entirely. Instead...

The Illusive Man is either shot and killed or commits suicide like it is in-game. Though a mortal enemy, he leaves behind a Cerberus anti-reaper weapon to Shepard for the sake of humanity before he dies. But then Harbinger takes control of the Illusive Man's corpse (much like Saren's fate) to keep Shepard from opening the citadel. Shepard and Anderson (once again, a squad member) defeat the Illusive Man for the last time, but Anderson is mortally wounded (a paragon interrupt will drain Shepard's shields instead, but leave Anderson unharmed). Harbinger also avoids Sovereign's mistake by releasing control at the last moment before Illusive Man's reanimated form is defeated. Shepard opens the citadel, the crucible moves in to dock with it, and begins charging. Harbinger and the rest of the reapers then begins to move toward the citadel to destroy the crucible and even the citadel itself, if need be.

Shepard's two companions finally make it to the citadel. While the combined fleet sets up a perimeter around the citadel to defend it, Harbinger alone manages to break through. Shepard and the two companions then fight head-to-head against Harbinger itself (final boss fight). The Illusive Man's weapon isn't enough to destroy a full-sized reaper, but is capable of damaging and slowing it down. Shepard uses this to delay Harbinger from destroying the crucible.

Harbinger boss fight summary: Harbinger continuously attempts to destroy the crucible with a single, ultra-powerful blast. This has a slow charging time. If charge bar is allowed to reach full, it's game over. The crucible has an even slower charge rate (roughly 1/4 or 1/3 of Harbinger's). Once it reaches full, you win. The Cerberus weapon can interrupt Harbinger, but it also has a charge time, and any damage taken by Shepard interrupts the weapon. Harbinger launches small fighters to harass Shepard, which must be destroyed. It also periodically blasts Shepard with a powerful laser cannon (drains shields from full to zero with a single hit, kills instantly if full health, but no shields) which the Commander must dodge. The fight area also grows progressively smaller, as Harbinger periodically destroys parts of the platform Shepard is standing on. Husks and other reaper minions also attack, and a mortally wounded Anderson aids in the team's defense, expiring during the fight (if the paragon interrupt was chosen earlier, Anderson starts out unhurt, but is mortally wounded during this fight). When the crucible bar reaches full...

Back to cinematic: Harbinger readies one final shot at the crucible, while Shepard dashes back toward the control panel to fire it. The two squad members are still fighting, and do not notice a banshee lining up a shot on Shepard. If Anderson is alive, he notices this, and launches himself at the incoming blast and intercepts it with the last of his strength. Shepard calls out to him, but with his dying breath, he urges the Commander to go on. If Anderson is dead, Shepard is hit by the blast, but makes it to the controls anyway. However, in this case, the Commander is guaranteed to perish at the end scene. Either way, Shepard reaches the controls, the crucible fires, and all the reapers are destroyed. Harbinger goes up in a massive explosion that kills either Shepard and the two companions, just Shepard, or no one, depending on war readiness and choices made.

[Insert happy ending cinematic]

Personally I'd have no star kid. Instead, your final conversation is with Harbinger, who breaks off from the battle to commune with you on the crucible. He explains the original reason for the Reapers' existence according to Drew Karpyshyn (writer who left Mass Effect to work on SWTOR, then quit). The Reapers were a race of organics who realized their Mass Effect technology was leading to the spread of dark matter throughout the galaxy, which was in turn killing stars (like on Haestrom). To solve the problem them gruesomely 'ascended' themselves into Reapers and destroyed all other advanced organic life, returning every fifty thousand years to repeat the process and 'clean up' the residual dark energy which they use to power themselves. In this way they allowed life to continue without threatening the existence of the galaxy. However, last cycle they were unable to complete their purpose due to the fact that the protheans were unable to form a Reaper. This led them to fall behind in their task and by the time this cycle occurs, the dark energy is building up to critical levels. The reason they need humans so much is (as stated in Mass Effect 2) their varied genetic composition would allow for a very intelligent and adaptable Reaper that could help them with their purpose. He gives Shepard the choice of joining the Reapers to help guide them in their intended purpose, since they have come to realize they understand organics as little as organics understand them.

The first choice would be to deny Harbinger and detonate the crucible, releasing the stored up energy to destroy the gathered reaper fleet. Shepard could warn his own fleet to evacuate earth and fall back first and then he would have to choose either to set the blast on a timer or detonate it manually. The timed blast would destroy most of the Sol system along with a good deal of straggling ships from Shepard's fleet, but would ensure the Reapers were destroyed and Shepard would survive aboard the Normandy. If he detonated it manually, he could wait for the entire fleet to leave except for a few ships keeping the Reapers away from the crucible, thus saving everyone except himself and those who were unable to evacuate earth. Earth is obviously destroyed, but otherwise the rest of the universe is left untouched. The threat of dark energy is still out there but the races now know about it and can figure out how to stop it on their own.

The second choice would be to allow the Reapers to complete their human reaper (which they have been using the citadel to build) by taking all the humans remaining on earth. They would use this reaper to clean up the dark energy, then leave. Shepard can then further sacrifice himself to meld with and become the 'voice' of this human Reaper, guiding it and the other reapers to harvest dark energy without destroying organics. Otherwise Harbringer would ominously state that they will always be waiting in dark space should the Mass Relay technology become widespread enough again to cause problems.

The third ending is only achievable if you get a certain amount of 'points' towards it. Shepard can convince Sovereign that organic life can adapt and exist peacefully with synthetics and without relying on the Mass Relays. Things like making peace with the Geth, 'humanizing' EDI, saving the council, preserving the collector base, and your ending fleet strength (symbolizing how well you united organics) would all net you points towards this and would all be used as examples in Shepard's argument. Harbinger will then offer to let him destroy all Reapers and their technology. Mass Relays, the citadel, etc. This will temporarily halt the spread of dark matter and save the galaxy for now, but there's always the chance that future generations could rebuild this technology and the problem would arise anew. The Geth and EDI would not be destroyed but their 'Reaper Code' would be lost, reverting them both to how they were at the onset of Mass Effect 2. Legion's sacrifice will have therefore been for nothing, though as he stated the Geth were already advancing towards this point, so it might still just be a matter of time (ditto with EDI). This ending ends with Shepard being picked up by the Normandy and him watching alongside the crew as the reapers destruct.

Though if we're going really barebones here, just cut the damn crash landing. It's what killed me most about the current ending and it's what raises the most questions.

Not going to lie if they did the whole "fast forward" thing it would have been interesting to see your romance have a child at least or something, (insert death brings new life) but still.

I have to point back to my DLC proposal for alternate endings :)

http://social.biowar...index/9697685/1

As you see I listed 2 originally and came up with a 3rd. I don't want to copy / paste. And both can be in addition to existing ones :)

Also from what I have heard this is the end of Shepard's story. So why I couldn't they give us a happy ending option? It isn't like they have to worry about anything for the ext game.

The fact that only two writers from ME1 was involved in ME3, might have something to do with all the plotholes in the endings.

Personally, I'd prefer an entirely different ending - the last act is basically "build the Crucible while hoping really, really hard that Shep happens to find the missing piece"... just have the galaxy's best scientists and engineers figure out a way to make it work. That would also get around plot holes at the end (why doesn't the Reaper fleet just focus fire on the Crucible given that they know it's the only way they can be stopped? Why don't they shut the teleport beam off rather than sending dreadnoughts to shoot at infantry for a bit?)

Your choices effect the outcome... ala Mass Effect 2, with a similar yet more EPIC playthrough of your choices being represented by little cinematics.

Shepard and Anderson die watching as the Crucible goes off, taking out the Reapers, half of the fleet, and most of the infantry involved in the battle.

I would be fine if the endings stayed as they are but technology and the mass relays are NOT destroyed. Have earth destroyed if your assets were low, and only have shepard survive if they were very high, but keep the technology...galactic civilization is what shepard has been fighting for and its just thrown out the window.

I think an even simpler ending would have been better though....

Shepard activates the Crucible and it works and transmits its signal through the mass relays without destroying anything but reapers. If your assets were bare minimum, earth is destroyed in the process, if they were very high, shepard gets to survive and have a happy ending.

It's the same ending used in a thousand stories but its better than whats there. What we have now is what happens when you put a twist for the sake of putting in a twist.

Shepard reaches the citadel with a strike force and a companion ( a larger strike force and both companions based on readiness and companions powers and level as well as reputation). From there you must fight with a large number of NPC's through the citadel against large and endless waves of husks until you reach the control panel. Once you reach the control panel you must deal with T.I.M, everyone is fighting the husks except for you and Anderson so you have to take him out on your own. During this Anderson is critically wounded and dies, similar to what happens in the current game.
You then try to activate the crucible and the pad brings you up too meet the little boy thing, he gives you the three choices, each of which will now have a different ending, but now there are more endings. You can fight until the last man against the reapers and lose but know you did what you could. Then there is the possibility to defeat the reaper fleet if your military might is strong enough. The final ending would be the hardest, but most rewarding possibly. In the final ending you fight non stop for forty five minutes to reach a central control chamber to deactivate the reapers and the little boy thing, as well as there influence. This is the best ending because it leaves the reaper tech in tact as well as any other advance technology on the citadel, this means more possibilities for advancement and just it seems really cool.
Every ending will have different tweaks depending on the choices you make, and of course you will reunite with your LI's. This means they get more screen time in the ending and through out the game.

Sorry, the link wasn't a link last time. Here is the link for my propsed endings.

As you see I understand the reasony why Bioware wanted these endings, but I see why they shouldn't be the only options. So I would only add new endings and wouldn't change the existing ones.

I would have had the third option be 'Let the Cycle happen', and I would have had the blue option not be worded as 'Control the Reapers' but simplified it to, 'The Reapers will be ordered to withdraw'. I also would have eliminated the Anderson/Illusive Man using the two options visual, it muddles things.

I would have made it clear that when you wake up on the Citadel time has passed, the battle is lost, and everyone is in full retreat. This a) explains the Normandy inconsistency B) adds a lot more tension to those final moments when you still think the Crucible is a weapon and c) makes the Crucible twist a bit more of a gut punch

my ending would have been similar to the suicide mission.
all of your squadmates from me1,2, and 3 would be fighting with you in london. depending on the decisions and actions you made during the game would determine who would survive and who would be killed in the final battle. for those who are killed, a small cutscene showing shepard and the squadmate giving a final goodbye to one another would add an emotional aspect to the final battle. once shep makes it to the citadel and the crucible, he should be given the choices of doing something heroic and self sacriface to guarantee the reapers are destoryed. or given the choice of living but not ending the reaper threat entirely (say they retreat but will return in the next cycle).

if you choose to self sacriface, it would kill all reapers, the galaxy would be saved. and the game should end showing your crew or your LI at a monument created in memory of you and  all the races would show a form of thanks to shepard.

if you choose to live and only cause the reapers to retreat, you could be shown in a few different ways. mayb one with your LI, one with your crew, one with you simply back on earth looking to create a new life, one of you at an old age looking back at what was done, or one of you simply carrying on with your duty as a soldier.

as an extra the player should be able to find out what became of the squadmates that survived, and last but not least answer the remaining questions of mass effect.
