The worst part is, they did everything else RIGHT

But, as we are all acutely aware of by now, the last 10 minutes were not of the same caliber. Not because Shepard probably dies (I accepted that likelihood early on) but for a host of various other reasons, including serious lack of much needed closure. This was the game that was supposed to answer all the questions, and leave us with a sense of satisfaction and hope for the future of our own private, little universe. We didn't get it, or at least I didn't.
And the worst part of it all, for me anyway, was that it should've been great. It should've been everything we were waiting for. Bioware had greatness in its grasp, and they let it slip away. And that's what disappointed me the most.

The game is so great, EVERY SINGLE PERSON who complains about the ending says this. All of these people are some of the biggest fans BioWare has ever had exactly because how deeply attached to the game they are. Mass Effect had a potential to be the greatest epic story ever told in a video game medium. THIS made the ending so unforgivable. It wasn't just a bad ending, it was the ending that ruined the best game I've ever played. GRRRRR.

I loved it right up until the final mission. I think it's a great overall game with some technical issues here and there until then.

The crazy thing is, the rest of the game being so good sort of overrode any anger I had initially. I was just...numbed. Until I started thinking about it.

I ended up RPing around it, though.
And a lack of control over character deaths really upset me. The fact that you can't save Thane is sickening. When I decided not to cure the Genophage, I thought it was awesome that I could kill Mordin (despite him being one of my favorite characters)... until I found out that he dies regardless. Similarly, with Tali, there's absolutely no way to save her if the Quarians die. Yeah, it makes sense, but why give us the Paragon interrupt if it does nothing?
But yeah, at the top of my list is of course the endings.

I was literally tearing up from the final scene with Anderson. I was thinking "my god this is the greatest game of all time". And then the god-child showed up.

Almost my exact reaction. The ending with Shepard and Anderson was so perfect...then it all went to hell.

Anyway, can't believe what people are saying. Don't know if I should trust the comments. I mean, the ending might be the most disappointing one ever, but remember this - lots of people hated on Star Trek as well. It might just be a 'controversial' ending as far as I know. But I don't know, so. Sigh.
Bioware is breaking my heart.

I can't think of a worse ending. Shepard has been fighting for galactic civilization the whole time and no matter what you do, it is destroyed.
What was the point of uniting races if they won't be able to communicate with each other anymore?
Poor Krogan. They just have some radioactive, dead rock of a planet. It was pointless to cure the genophage because they will never thrive on that planet alone.

And like aim, that numbed the pain of the bad ending. That numbness was gradually replaced by pain as I started thinking about it though.

Agreed, even just some more itme with the LI's would have made the game's ending seem more bearable. Most of the ME2 LI's get very little screen time, it breaks my heart especially since i picked jack who they completely deprive me from.Militarized wrote...
Everything else right is spot on... except for some of the LI's

It felt there was a gap when Shepard is injured tying to make the way to the beam of light,..I was thinking..did my party members die? I was looking around on the ground but no hints....It sems like something was cut or not finished.
Bioware needs to Patch the Ending so our choices play some effect because right now the ending conflicts with the Mass Effect whole theme for the game- choices matter.

Everything else right? Your mean removing player control of Shepard through linear auto dialogue? How's your second playthrough going? I'm barely getting it done cause its like watching a movie twice in a row. With VERY little changes to the dialogue there's no point in even playing it. Forget the endings, the lack of dialogue control is what killed this game and made it into a movie.

Are you playing action mode? I didn't have autodialogue. I think only action mode is autodialogue.

As I stated in another thread, it took me ~40 hours to run through ME3. And I can say, unequivocally, that for the first 39 hours and 50 minutes, ME3 was the greatest game I've ever played. I thought so then, and I still think so now. Bioware and the ME team should be commended for giving me perhaps the greatest gaming experience of my life for that stretch of time. And so, for the record, it is on the basis of those first 39 and 5/6 hours that I will remain a loyal bioware customer and fan.
But, as we are all acutely aware of by now, the last 10 minutes were not of the same caliber. I agree.. It was an awesome game.. They just... Fumbled at the 10 yard line. I however Find that.. unacceptable and While I love the game and the series.. I can't find myself trusting them again. That and stack on top of it the whole Online pass thing that EA's trying to do with every game so that if you buy something used you have to pay them money to be able to use online portions of games which are marketed features of said games. Yeahh.. no.

Some folks have panned the entire game as bad. I have heard reasons ranging from bad enemy AI to forced gay romance and of course auto-dialog.
You know, I have a really hard time taking the homophobia seriously, namely for the fact the vast majority of it seems to be coming from people who like Gears of War, where naught a cubbie is to be found and every muscle ripples with unsated and barely-contained hunger for man-flesh.
You know, the guys who go on...and on...and on...with homophobic slurs and similar ignorant crap, then proceed to watch UFC which is a ripped singlet away from being a full-blown hardcore gay BDSM video.
