The worst part is, they did everything else RIGHT

it took me ~40 hours to run through ME3. And I can say, unequivocally, that for the first 39 hours and 50 minutes, ME3 was the greatest game I've ever played.
This is exactly how I feel. It is so regretable that such an incredible body of work is soured by the final 10 minutes.

I loved the game until the last last mission
i knew after Me2 that shepard may not survive the last game... but still making it a little bit brighter wouldn't hurt them would it.
I accepted my other squad mates loses like thane's it was natural you can not wage a war and save everyone at the same time.
abotu the gayism I1m very open minded person so it's okay my shep is staright anyway...
It was really a great game but the ending could have been better (happy ending)

It's a bit like having a raised a genius child and to witness his or her success as an adult only to see them inexplicably take a gun to their head just as they are poised for their crowning achievement.

Then I got to the end and everything I spent three games doing no longer mattered. I was given three choices, each showing almost the same cinematic.
I thought that the game was SO amazing until then, that there was no way they could drop the ball this late, then it happened.
The ending writing was horrible if you ask me. I really was expecting some DA:O closure on all of the characters/races/fate of the universe.

This should've been our moment of triumph, a moment to be uplifted. Inspired. It should've been a golden moment for bioware.
now i just feel empty.

As I stated in another thread, it took me ~40 hours to run through ME3. And I can say, unequivocally, that for the first 39 hours and 50 minutes, ME3 was the greatest game I've ever played. I thought so then, and I still think so now. Bioware and the ME team should be commended for giving me perhaps the greatest gaming experience of my life for that stretch of time. And so, for the record, it is on the basis of those first 39 and 5/6 hours that I will remain a loyal bioware customer and fan.
But, as we are all acutely aware of by now, the last 10 minutes were not of the same caliber. Not because Shepard probably dies (I accepted that likelihood early on) but for a host of various other reasons, including serious lack of much needed closure. This was the game that was supposed to answer all the questions, and leave us with a sense of satisfaction and hope for the future of our own private, little universe. We didn't get it, or at least I didn't.
And the worst part of it all, for me anyway, was that it should've been great. It should've been everything we were waiting for. Bioware had greatness in its grasp, and they let it slip away. And that's what disappointed me the most.
I was going to make a post saying exactly this, but you did it for me! Quote for truth

Most of the people on here complaining about the ending is because they didn't get the direct things they want - Shepard somehow surviving, marrying their love interests, etc.
This is wrong and it simply proves that you are just spewing bull**** without bothering to actually read the concerns that people have.

I am having trouble doing a renegade playthrough (finished paragon) because of those two reasons
Just thought of a 3rd thing that annoys me to no end -> Not being able to skip ALL the dialogue. Several parts of the game where it won't let you, especially towards the end of the game.

I was literally tearing up from the final scene with Anderson. I was thinking "my god this is the greatest game of all time". And then the god-child showed up.
The crazy thing is, the rest of the game being so good sort of overrode any anger I had initially. I was just...numbed. Until I started thinking about it.
Had the same exact reaction myself.

I've likened it to someone finding a stranger in the desert. And rather than just giving them a drink from your water bottle, you build a rube goldberg device that ultimately dumps some water on their head. Just give them the drink of water. It doesn't need to be more than that.

i just told him the very end of the game was "stupid"
That way ive seeded a way for him to enjoy the rest of the game, and just shrug off the ending.....
i hope =0

The game is so great, EVERY SINGLE PERSON who complains about the ending says this. All of these people are some of the biggest fans BioWare has ever had exactly because how deeply attached to the game they are. Mass Effect had a potential to be the greatest epic story ever told in a video game medium. THIS made the ending so unforgivable. It wasn't just a bad ending, it was the ending that ruined the best game I've ever played. GRRRRR.
Agreed.

The really sad thing is I normally would be against Bioware offering a new ending DLC that I had to purchase however this was so bad and I feel so invested in Shepard and the rest of the crew that I would pay quite a bit for a much better ending for all of them just for my own sanity (though it would be paid begrudgingly). Please Bioware if by some miracle you read this fix the ending, please... secure this game as one of the gaming greats of all time by giving it the spectacular ending it deserves.

The ending also made me look at the other things I didn't like more. I became less forgiving of them because of that stupid ending.
