How the hell do the endings give a "good" closure like Hudson said? what a liar.

This is exactly how I feel. It is so regretable that such an incredible body of work is soured by the final 10 minutes.

Yes I agree too.
I loved the game until the last last mission
i knew after Me2 that shepard may not survive the last game... but still making it a little bit brighter wouldn't hurt them would it.
I accepted my other squad mates loses like thane's it was natural you can not wage a war and save everyone at the same time.
abotu the gayism I1m very open minded person so it's okay my shep is staright anyway...
It was really a great game but the ending could have been better (happy ending)

Agreed with OP.

It's a bit like having a raised a genius child and to witness his or her success as an adult only to see them inexplicably take a gun to their head just as they are poised for their crowning achievement.

I fully agree with you OP. Everything before the end was amazing: The Krogan female's speech and ending the genophage, ending the war between the Geth and Quarians, seeing the Asari homeworld fall.
Then I got to the end and everything I spent three games doing no longer mattered. I was given three choices, each showing almost the same cinematic.
I thought that the game was SO amazing until then, that there was no way they could drop the ball this late, then it happened.
The ending writing was horrible if you ask me. I really was expecting some DA:O closure on all of the characters/races/fate of the universe.

People have given Bioware a lot of flak for the endings but it must be said that the game up to meeting the genocidal space child was damn, damn good. Broke my heart, really.

Yeah. This was Bioware's and Casey Hudson's masterpiece in my opinion. Why they chose to end it like this.... to take away the last 5 years of hoping and anticipating....

This should've been our moment of triumph, a moment to be uplifted. Inspired. It should've been a golden moment for bioware.

now i just feel empty.

As I stated in another thread, it took me ~40 hours to run through ME3. And I can say, unequivocally, that for the first 39 hours and 50 minutes, ME3 was the greatest game I've ever played. I thought so then, and I still think so now. Bioware and the ME team should be commended for giving me perhaps the greatest gaming experience of my life for that stretch of time. And so, for the record, it is on the basis of those first 39 and 5/6 hours that I will remain a loyal bioware customer and fan.

But, as we are all acutely aware of by now, the last 10 minutes were not of the same caliber. Not because Shepard probably dies (I accepted that likelihood early on) but for a host of various other reasons, including serious lack of much needed closure. This was the game that was supposed to answer all the questions, and leave us with a sense of satisfaction and hope for the future of our own private, little universe. We didn't get it, or at least I didn't.

And the worst part of it all, for me anyway, was that it should've been great. It should've been everything we were waiting for. Bioware had greatness in its grasp, and they let it slip away. And that's what disappointed me the most.

Most of the people on here complaining about the ending is because they didn't get the direct things they want - Shepard somehow surviving, marrying their love interests, etc.

This is wrong and it simply proves that you are just spewing bull**** without bothering to actually read the concerns that people have.

That's probably the most disappointing part. With DA2, the whole game was just boring so by the time I got to the ending I was just glad for it to be done. ME3, however, was just so fantastic up until those final moments that it managed to completely ruin an otherwise fantastic game for me. Such a wasted opportunity.

The two main problems I have with the game that becomes a problem after your first playthrough are the stupid dream sequences (chasing the kid...BORING) and every mission ending in the comm room, where you gotta go through Private Campbell & the other private with that stupid barrier wall.

I am having trouble doing a renegade playthrough (finished paragon) because of those two reasons -_-

Just thought of a 3rd thing that annoys me to no end -> Not being able to skip ALL the dialogue. Several parts of the game where it won't let you, especially towards the end of the game.

I am so incredibly frustrated with the ending. I completely agree, I loved the game beyond any other game or series I have ever played, and wow, the ending made me sad.

I was literally tearing up from the final scene with Anderson. I was thinking "my god this is the greatest game of all time". And then the god-child showed up.

The crazy thing is, the rest of the game being so good sort of overrode any anger I had initially. I was just...numbed. Until I started thinking about it.

Had the same exact reaction myself.

Bioware failed to reach for simplicity, which as Leornardo Da Vinci said, is the ultimate form of sophistication. Before Hackett tells Shepard the Crucible isn't firing, it was perfect. But they couldn't let it be that simple.

I've likened it to someone finding a stranger in the desert. And rather than just giving them a drink from your water bottle, you build a rube goldberg device that ultimately dumps some water on their head. Just give them the drink of water. It doesn't need to be more than that.

i just told him the very end of the game was "stupid"

That way ive seeded a way for him to enjoy the rest of the game, and just shrug off the ending.....

i hope =0

Absolutely, Ashley avatar picture person. Absolutely.

The game is so great, EVERY SINGLE PERSON who complains about the ending says this. All of these people are some of the biggest fans BioWare has ever had exactly because how deeply attached to the game they are. Mass Effect had a potential to be the greatest epic story ever told in a video game medium. THIS made the ending so unforgivable. It wasn't just a bad ending, it was the ending that ruined the best game I've ever played. GRRRRR.

Agreed.

I couldn't agree more, I was in love with the game the whole way through (didn't care for Vega but hey that's easy enough I just left Slab McHamfist down in the loading bay) the game felt good, it felt like everything that made Mass Effect awesome was there again which... made the ending all the more disappointing. When you get everything so right your expectations build up and up and you keep thinking you're going to get this AMAZING ending like everything else in the game then you get... 3 random non-nonsensical choices that don't fit at all and trivialize all your choices up to that point and well... it hurts to fall flat on your face from so far.

The really sad thing is I normally would be against Bioware offering a new ending DLC that I had to purchase however this was so bad and I feel so invested in Shepard and the rest of the crew that I would pay quite a bit for a much better ending for all of them just for my own sanity (though it would be paid begrudgingly). Please Bioware if by some miracle you read this fix the ending, please... secure this game as one of the gaming greats of all time by giving it the spectacular ending it deserves.

I've stated this opinion before in other threads. It WAS amazing before the end. Sure there were a few things I nitpicked at (like less conversation choices) but everything was so amazing that it didn't bother me too much. So when the end came about and ruined it I was crushed, even though I knew the ending before hand.

The ending also made me look at the other things I didn't like more. I became less forgiving of them because of that stupid ending.

Everything was absolutelly amazing right up to the moment when Harbiner landed. Hrbinger why did you do that?! You ruined Mass Effect forever.
As Sovereign said their actions are beyond our comprehension.

I couldn't agree with you more. Mass Effect 3 was the greatest in the series and one of the greatest games of all time, UNTIL I got to that final 10 minutes of gameplay... words... words cannot describe my disappointment

I don't rage and im not going to do that now either but the game is amazing (perhaps best game ever) up to the point when Shepard wakes up next to the the "boy shaped citadel".....I mean Bioware I have 7 different Shepards from Me1 and Me2....shall I perhaps pick 3 green ligths 2 blue and 2 red?......ye ok I was not going to rage......mumble mumble.....
