To confirm my personal problem was that I have the PSN version of the game which patched to 1.02. My friend has the disc version of the game and is patched at 1.01. He is unable to patch to 1.02. Everytime we try to play together it says we must download the same version of the game.

Why don't they just update the disc version as well? Problem solved. This is just silly

maybe they did but it never was sent out for the disc guys or something messed up the code and are try to find or what happened with it so they can send it out and not have the same stuff happen

So, our issue is resolved, once disc based users download the patch we will be able to connect to each others lobbies? if so I'm ecstatic. Thanks for the help Bioware, and everyone else involved!

Really??? I live in Australia too... how you check if you have 1.02 version?

I believe only North America is getting patch 1.02. That patch will bring all users up to the same patch level (despite the number mismatch), and you should be able to play across regions.
