The ONLY logic reason that comes to my mind for them to be on the normandy is that the reaper was cutting off acces to the portal shepard made it through. ((P.S. Where'd the reaper go after you woke up from the explosion?)) So they pulled back, unable to reach the commander. Seeing that shepard was still alive and headed for the portal, they called in joker to carry them up to the citadel. I'm assuming they had to find a safe place for the Normandy to land, without that reaper blowing it up.

Skip forward a bit, and the explosion... Thing... Goes off. Joker (being the best pilot out there) jumps to FTL just in time --thinking it's bad-- and tries to escape it. He fails, and they crash. They would still be somewhere in the Earth's nebula, likely extremely close in fact. They still have the best crew in the galaxy and an FTL com link. I'd assume that a ship ((of which there are many left)) could just drop by shortly and pick them up. Remember, they were in FTL flight, not a relay jump.

Even if they had no FTL link, there are still hundred if not thousands of ships sitting around earth after that fight. I'm sure they would scan around the nebula for a while until they found it. It's not like they have anyhing better to do. Nor could they say no to shepard, the guy has a way with words.

I hope this helps give you some context, but the ending was still @#$%. Bioware, you know better. Fix it with DLC or something.

If that was their explanation they could have showed it in the game. Moreover, Anderson followed Shepard in the conduit so it was obviously accessible as your party members are close to Shepard while Anderson wasn't. It's also a plot hole that they end up in an jungle environement as there aren't any planet in the Sol System that has a jungle except Earth and it's clearly not Earth.

It was really easy to add lines that simply say go ahead commander we can't reach you or have Shepard questions if the others are still alive. Instead they magically disappear from the beam area. You get no explanation and they are magically on the Normandy during the ending. The Normandy is supposed to be in space helping the sword team. So Joker came back from the huge space skirmish, collected the team, didn't look for Shepard, ran from the battlefield in space and activated a random mass relay where eventually the Normandy was swept by the space magic blast from the crucible. It doesn't make much sense character wise. It means the other tried nothing to reach Shepard and they ran the from the fight.

It would have made much sense to have the characters in your squad die when hit by the beam.

I will admit though- The Jungle Planet sure is pretty.

Maybe that's why they're smiling, despite abandoning their leader and best friend.

Doesn't matter, they died on my game. No one gets to swing from vines on this playthrough! We all go together!

I would have just rathered everyone die and life start over in some evolution endscene. Or, just have Joker and EDI step out on the planet. The rest of my squadmates? Ashley, the love interest? Why are they there? How did they get there? Just a slap in the face.

Thinking I may go back to ME1 and go through and start a horrible game in spite, make sure just enough survive to get me to ME3 and have them die, and then fail to save earth and wipe out all humans in addition to the reapers.

I'm sure that's what the crew of the Hugo Gernsback said when they crash landed.

@almostfaceman - haha yep. :D

@Papa John0 - that can happen, if you don't have a high enough rating. It happened on my playthrough, my Shepard died and so did his squad/joker/edi/everyone on earth. Works for me.
