I don't know if the developers were trying to compete Metal Gear for wierdest endings or getting runner up for the worst endings of the year award, regardless, I didn't enjoy them and I've see the outcry online that many feel likewise. I don't know what was more painful, the lack of real "choices" or the fact that they all ended withthe same lame cinametic(add different colored light show)? Perhaps it's the combination of those those facets that really bugged me enough to open  thread to share my pain. I know it has been said... but did every choice have to have shepard die? Hard choices? You know what I did? I turned the **** around and wanted to jump off the ledge, I mean ... considering NOTHING mattered in the end an the whole act of gathetic forces and nurtering relations was completey pointless and superfelous; no matter what you decide you die... JUMP OFF THE LEDGE I figure, sadly that "choice" of suicide was curiously unvailable to me. I feel almost as screwed as I was with DA II. With the only real difference being that this game was actually still fun to play up until the end, where as DA I played with the mindset of "this has to get better eventually". For those of you who haven't played DA:II.... it didn't get better. Long story short I'm pissed, sad, and insulted by the direction the story took. To make it even worse I'll put it like this, I used to play Mass Effect but then I took a ME3 ending to the knee.

It's the worst ending of any game I've ever played, not just Mass Effect. I'm not objective, because I loved ME1, and really liked ME2. ME3 was almost brilliant in the way that genius and madness are two sides of the same coin. So close and yet so far is much worse than not being close at all, it appears.

The ending is the worst mass effect ending easily. It's right up there with the worst ending for any story.

Matrix 3 and Mass Effect 3 are probably the two worst endings ever.

The Ending was so bad, I canceled my SWTOR account. =)

Not Kidding. I refuse to give any more money to BioWare.

That is a grievous slight against Matrix 3. At least in the Matrix, Neo tells the Architect to shove it and creates his own future for humanity. Shepard just gives up and only does what the Catalyst AI allows him to do.

Yeah I spent about five minutes of my life shooting through the stupid kids head. Is it wrong to shoot a child if he's a corporeal visage of some ancient AI bent on establishing some misguided ideal of order? I don't think so, man I wanna blow his corporeal brains out. Not every synthetics brains, just his. Stupid twit ruined everything, probably ruined the endings too! :P

Actually...yeah. It really is unfair to the Matrix in that regard.

That warrants a Keanu-esque "Woah."

I used to think that Dragon Age 2 would hold the worst ending in my book, but these endings [in ME3] definitely surpass that one.

Yup.

Shepard is, for all intents and purposes, the anti-reaper. He would never give up and bend to their will. Oh, but when their master acts like an innocent child, then Shep conforms to its will. It's an insult to the character and the players.

lol I don't care what Neo says to the Architect... the humans were supposed to end the war, destroy the machines and retake the surface... instead you get this diplomatic BS about allowing people to leave.

Great, that means people get unplugged from their huge battery and dumped into some sewer runoff ditch somewhere. And everyone in Zion gets to continue scratching out a miserable living, eating cave slime in some dank pit somewhere.

Great work, Neo.

Two worst endings ever.

You see, Dragonage 2 isn't that bad of an ending.

Mostly because you know there's going to be a second one set within the world and it will go on.
At least, that's what I believe. Then again, I was disappointed from the start not being able to play my Warden. I certainly don't hate DA2, I just think it's sub-par compared to Origins.

With ME3, we're talking about a great game here. Put that in with the others in the Trilogy, and you've got a damn near master piece. BUT, the ending hurts all of that. That's why its so hurtful.

Oddly, I expected less. I thought (and hoped) that ME3 ended with "Best seats in the house"

It was the biggest let down of any game I have ever played. Even worse then Halo 2's cliffhanger. At least with that I knew there was another game coming to wrap it up, so all it did was make me super excited for Halo 3. This, this is just so bad. Even worse is the fact that the game pops-up after the credits with "LOLOLOLOL IT WAS ALL JUST TEH STORY! NOW WAIT FOR DLC AND BUY IT STUPID!"

Worst game ending ever?

I don't know about that. It was disapointing and kind of left a hole in my chest.

To me, Shepard never got back up after taking the laser to the face. At least I can put that down to him dying in combat, not in some messed up fashion where he has to press one of the three self-destruct buttons

For a moment I considered the notion of "it could have been worse" but then I remembered this game wasn't made in Japan. With popular Japanese culture you expect and incomprehensible abstract ending for a game or anime. As western consumers I think we deserve better. Although, while I'm on the subject of cultural differences, you think they will actually like this ending over there? Seems right up their ally, don't get me wrong, I love Japanese culture, anime and such. I've just grown to expect that stuff when it comes to their games and anime.
