Most people I've talked to have either played ME3 or Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but I've yet to meet anyone besides myself who's played both.
For those who have... Is anyone noticing serious similiarities between the endings of both games? You're given three choices, all of which suck.
In DE:HR, your choices are: Support one of your main political antagonists and screw yourself and other augmented people over, or support criticism of the the head antagonist and screw yourself and other augmented people over, or the third option... Just kill yourself and take all the evidence with you.
I'm struggling to notice much of a difference in the ending of ME3... Where your options are: Kill yourself... Kill yourself and... Wait for it... Kill yourself.
The ending cutscenes are almost completely identical regardless of your choice as well... Just like in DE:HR... I'm wondering if Bioware just ran out of ideas, looked at Deus Ex and said: "You know what? That'll do. Let's just copy that. Good enough."
Honestly, why didn't Bioware just add the 4th option to use that pistol in your hand to just shoot yourself in the head and be done with it? Same difference for the player's character in the end anyway.
Anyone notice similarities between ME3 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution endings?

Actually, at least in Deus Ex there was wiggle room for ambiguity, in ME3, the transhuman plot point comes out of left field, shoots the story in the face, and than leaves you with more questions than answers and not in a good way. It railroads you into 'synthetics are bad' despite many characters proving this idea false but evidently Bioware wants you to support that because it's the only way Shep lives.
It's stupid.

There were 4 choices in the ending of DE:HR, as I recall.

Oh... what was the 4th one? I just remember 3 buttons. Damn... they weren't competing with metal gear for the weirdest ending! They were really competeing with Deus Ex
the plot thickens!

The difference was that Deus Ex cleaned up all the endings. They all worked. None of them work in Mass Effect 3. It's just throwing away 3 games worth of stories and characters in a single go. I would have much rathered a Halo 3 ending with Shepard floating, alive, in dark space and everyone crying at a memorial to any of the endings presented.

wow i never played halo but that would be a good ending...everyone thinking shepard is dead ,and something or someone saved him ,then he comes back later.(i know that what me2 did but still better then the ****ty ending)

To the OP
I own and have played both to the end. Got the best possible ending in both. The Mass Effect ending is a total rip-off of the Deus-ex HR ending. The major diffrence between the two is that the ending for Deus-Ex fit the game, i couldn't see it ending any other way. Yes you had 4 choices but almost anyone who played agreed they had a satisfying conclusion. As for Mass Effect 3 I think they mixed up the script with another game they were working on. I expected to have three diffrent endings in Mass Effect 3. The "renegade" ending where we lose and its just depressing to watch, The Grey ending which we kinda have right now, and a Paragon ending or triumphant ending to the series. More to the point if this is the end of the series ( I can't see how you can recover after ALL reaper tech being destroyed, some of which is essential to getting from point A to
why the hell cant we finish Mass Effect on our own terms. If Bioware truly does listen to their fans, and I'm going to put my money on that they do, now would be the time to address this.

@Salty
I made a post similar to this, where I talked about the similarities and why it should have been different. Even though I was comparing ME3 to the original Deus Ex, which I think is a bit more similar, the comparison to DXHR is also valid.

With DXHR we were prepared for endings to not matter, cuz, well, prequel. And there is a reasonable explanation: singnal intercept.

shepard survives if you destroy reapers.
unexpected from BW, but logic, since you worked your a** off to destroy them in whole d**n serie.

Thing in, in DEX:HR endings make perfect sense because transhumanism is the theme of the entire game. The same endings look out of place in ME story, it's like if Adam Jensen defeated Hyron and sailed to Undying Lands with all the elves.

HR endings were meh, but still they aint left me that angry. You save world in the end, and then decide what to do with it. You aint forced to die, destroy everything and rewrite lore to point of no return.

Edward Price provided this gem in respect to the ending, DEX:HR, and BSG.

I think all ME3 ending are more like Deus EX 2
1.Illuminati Ending = Control Reaper
2.JC (Helios) Ending = Synthasis
3.Templar Ending = Destroy

You mean the magic pick your ending button that didn't take any prior action into account? Yea I noticed.

Deus EX HR had 4 endings, ME3 has 3
In both artificial inteligence tells you what to do, but in Deus Ex HR it is not deus ex machina artificial intelligence, you met it before
In both you get 80% similar cut scenes but RGB colors are only in ME3
In Deus Ex HR 3 of 4 choices you get only if you do "right" decissions in last mission, in ME3 you need high EMS to unlock Synergy (i think)
But it is pretty similar ending for different games.

We never asked for this...
Anyway, jokes aside, as d-boy15 said, the ME3 endings are more like the DE2 ones.
